Ultimately, yes think it was just seen as a ‘card’ game. I quite liked it but the social element outside of combat was dated, the battle areas were tiny, and it suffered from having an unknown main character - a sin considering Marvel has literally 100s of very well known heroes. It just wasn’t what it appeared.
Coming off the bigger conversations from yesterday about AI making games in the future, this looks exactly like something an AI would create if you asked it to make a simple rally game.
Dave the Diver, although I’m still messing around in the village and that’s getting boring and taking away from the restaurant sections which is a shame.
Would be a lot more pertinent and credible if Microsoft had actually made those games, not just bought the companies after they had already been released years ago.
Story mode for me. Unpopular opinion but Souls games are ruined by their difficulty. I’m middle aged with a family, I don’t have time to die 8 times in a row on a game, I just wanted to have fun in the limited time available. It’s the devs prerogative to make games to whatever difficulty they want of course, but unless a game has an easy mode then it’s not for me.
Game devs are a business after all, bit of a sweeping statement to say it’s all avoidable. Hope this article doesn’t come back to bite them on the behind in a years time when they are the ones making layoffs.
My long term city on Cities Skylines is getting too stressful to manage now, so I’m going to play through GTA5 on PS5. Haven’t played it since it came out on the PS3 10+ years ago!
Wonder if they’ll ever put out some PS:VR 1 games again. Surely be a good way to get people using the newer tech by giving away some of the older games.
I’d say they were limiting fast travel on purpose to deliberately sell more MS crystals but the first game had this rubbish limited fast travel system as well. Rather than update the system they’ve just monetised it?
TTRPGs have been using this technology for 50 years in real life
It is interesting though, and I think in 10 years time this is going to be standard. Along with procedural level design etc it’s only a matter of time before game makers design the framework and basic plot for a game and the rest of it is just AI.
I played a single player mode which went on for an age and wouldn’t let me exit it. With no way to get back to the menu I had to do a hard close and I’ve not been tempted to boot it up again since. The whole style to me was cringe rather than cool.
It’s just a game and just a story. Just don’t play it if you don’t want a Batman to die.
More intriguing is the way that people keep trying to make Suicide Squad a thing. Movie, reboot, game - I’m getting the vibe that people just aren’t that into the Suicide Squad.
I remember it not being very good but looking at the comments I think it was just me! At the time I just thought it was a janky 3D worms and that was it.
@Jaz007 The only turn slowdown I’ve seen is when I’ve counterspelled an enemy. They just freeze for a good few seconds, but I roleplay that as the enemy being utterly flabbergasted that their nova spell has just countered and they just stand still in disbelief rethinking their life choices.
@Fiendish-Beaver not really, each of the face buttons is a specific arm/leg and then you have modifiers on the should buttons for body/head/jab etc and then you can combine that with wildcard type moves like spinning kicks etc To an extent you make your own combos just like a real fight, but if you want you can have a more nimble single strike style taking into account blocking and countering. Surprisingly deep and tactical once you recognise telegraphed moves.
Touting alter-egos as a new feature - isn’t it just a different skin? A feature in games across all genres that we’ve seen for 20+ years.
And a redesigned grapple system, which they redesign every year.
I feel like this suffers from the same fatigue that all EA games suffer from which is that they basically never change. You might as well play 3 or 4 unless you’re desperate for 60fps.
As a irl D&D player, it’s amazing to see what lengths they’ve had to go to replicate the game. Glad this game, the developer and D&D are getting some recognition.
Was never interested in these games until someone pleased with me to try Desperadoes 3. Loved that and loved Shadow Tactics so excited about this one! Great games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 528
I’ve just finished Dave the Diver so I might go back and carry on through GTA5 story (first time replaying since PS3 days) - or I might start Tunic!

Re: Helldivers 2 PC Is Getting Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement
Keyboard warriors crying into their #PCmasterrace mouse mats. What a shame.
Re: Ubisoft's Free-to-Play Shooter XDefiant Drops on PS5 This Month
Looks about as generic a F2P multiplayer fps as you could get.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Astarion Actor Set for Next D&D Adventure
Been in a Vecna based D&D game that’s been ongoing for the past 5 years or so, so hearing a voice to the Lich has been great, it’s pretty chilling!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 525
Started my second year on Stardew Valley. Just cooking and making friends now I’ve upgraded everything. What a life.
Re: Dave the Diver (PS5) - PS Plus Gains an Inventive, Satisfying Adventure Overflowing with Ideas
Sounds similar to Moonlighting, half adventure half management sim?
Can’t wait to try it! Looks great.
Re: Huge PS Plus Clearout Confirmed for May, 25 Games Leaving
Would be interested in seeing some stats for these, because I imagine for the vast majority of those games, very little people are using them at all.

Was going to download, but guess I’ll wait now. Bad timing to have not released this just before making it free to everyone.
Re: Planet Zoo: Console Edition - A Tame But Charming Zoo 'Em Up
@Loamy There’s giant African land snails!
My son loves animals and planet coaster so he’s already been having a blast with this, it’s basically exactly what it looks like.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Dragon's Dogma 2?
Should be a ‘Yes but I’ll wait for them to patch in 60fps’ option.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 PS5 Frame Rate Controversy Rumbles on as Previews Give Conflicting Reports
Such a shame if they can’t make it 60fps. Love love love this series but I just can’t play on 30fps any more for an action game.
Re: Borderlands Film Shares First Look at Its Live-Action Cast
I love Borderlands, but Kevin Hart as Roland is a massive mis-cast I reckon, unless they’ve changed the whole type of character he is.
Claptrap won’t be the same with Jack Black, should have used the same voice actor as before.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Skull and Bones?
I thought this and Sea of Thieves were the same thing and it was F2P. £70? Um no thanks. Not great marketing, I thought it had already come and gone.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for February 2024 Announced
I’ll give Foamstars a go as could be quite fun.
Rollerdrome is ok, I played the demo and felt like I’d seen the entire game in 10 minute though.

Deal breaker for me! I just can’t go back to 30fps.

Re: The Tekken 8 PS5 Demo Is Available to Download Now
I will give this a go. Loved Tekken since the PS1 days. Is it timed?
Re: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (PS5) - A World We Don't Want To Leave
I wasn’t sure how this would turn out but it looks great! I love the movies so will go and seek this out now.
Re: Rocket Racing Trailers Are Here to Hype You Up, Available Now in Fortnite
So this is a new game by the Rocket League people, but only playable in Fortnite? Not in Rocket League itself. Why exactly?
Re: Next Gigantic Baldur's Gate 3 Patch, Feature News Coming This Week
Played 150 hours to the finish and never once had a single issue in Act 3!
However Halfling monks cannot proc topple or stagger on flurry of blows with Open Hand subclass since day 1 so hey ho.
Re: Realms of Ruin Should be on Every PS5 Warhammer Fan's Radar
This looks potentially great, but another game with a tiny UI you need to be a foot away from the screen to be able to use.

Re: Larian Unveils Baldur's Gate 3's Most Milquetoast Multiclass Builds
Rogue/Ranger has always been a really common multiclass in the ttrpg so no surprises there.
But where are all the Bard-barians? Shout and scream your lyrics before beating someone down with your drum.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 495
Throwing goblins into other goblins on Baldurs Gate 3.

Re: Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Embarks on PS5 Journey from 7th December
BG3 has set the bar pretty high and 40k doesn’t have the best reputation for games despite the amazing IP potential, but I am pretty hopeful for this!
Re: 20 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Coming Next Week
Unpacking and Sniper for me but otherwise absolute trash month.

Ironically can’t play BG3 tonight as I’m playing irl D&D, but I’m super excited for tomorrow! Downloading now.

Trying to get through Hogwarts Legacy. I love Harry Potter and the game is technically great, but I’m just not finding it that fun??
Re: Poll: Will You Be Muting Your PS5's Beep?
It’s just a beep… but I love how much this divides the community.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage Nowhere Near the Length of Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla
I welcome this. Origins and Odyssey were great but I grew bored and the only thing putting me off starting Valhalla is the length.
Re: Insomniac Games May Have a Third AAA PS5 Exclusive in Development
If it’s new Resistance then I’d be all in for that. Loved the first two. If it’s a new multiplayer only game as rumoured then meh.
Re: Twin-Stick Co-op Shooter Killsquad Looks Like Fun for the Whole Family on PS5, PS4
Everything about this game screams that it looks like it’s been completely created using ChatGPT.
However it does look fun and so what more do you need?
