@IamJT That’s not how these internet people work! There will be people playing something like First Descedant for 500 hours without spending anything, and then complain it’s not good and there’s no real endgame content.
I have really liked all these games. One of the only series where I think the story and world building is very strong, unlike most other forgettable games around these days. This 4th one is crying out for some 4 player PvE type drop in action with each person taking on a horseman.
@pharos_haven Every character is basically just a re-skin of a Warframe one at this point, with abilities take from another. Viessa is Frost, Bunny is Volt, Ajax is Rhino etc Ultimates are just Primes.
Don’t like the games, but I think this could be really good! Will go in fresh not knowing the game plot etc so will be good to see if it holds up on its own without needing background info to be good.
@trev666 I did too! I came to it 2-3 years after release. Barely any other players but I thought it was great - sadly still too bugged to play properly though. Had it the time/market to grow and launched in a better state, it could have been brilliant.
@Ainu20 Hit the nail on the head. 10 years ago Warframe had the space to slowly change into the game it is now (it was dire on release) and have the market to bring people slowly to it. The only reason I ever tried Warframe was because it was F2P and there were almost no other GaaS F2P games out (and I was too poor to buy a game). These days they are everywhere - so much choice that there’s never a need to revisit something old that wasn’t any good.
I have done a 180 on First Descendant, and am enjoying it after being overly critical last week. It’s still shocking how much they’ve copied Warframe and Destiny, and it isn’t as good as either of those, but it is mindless fun. Like the gaming equivalent of a dirty kebab.
@rjejr On the phone app, I don’t have a browser I can use. I’ll try on the console store then and see if I can remove it, I don’t think I’ve ever looked on it! I guess my point is consistency in access. Shouldn’t have different functionality based on the method of how to access it.
You know what else is annoying? If you purchase something BEFORE taking it off the wish list, it stays on there but you can’t then unheart it. My wishlist of full of games that say ‘Purchased’ instead of a price!
I think this makes sense and is a fair thing to do. Not every game needs an evil option. Yes it’s an RPG but there’s limits on all stories, if you’re trying to make a story about a group of good heroes, then sucking the life force from someone’s blood doesn’t exactly scream goodness.
Utterly shameless rip off of Warframe, Destiny and Outriders. It’s not bad, but just not as good as those three. However playing it, whatever fun there is just leaves a sour taste in my mouth whenever I realise how bad the plagiarism is.
The game rips off Warframe hugely, it’s a blatant copy paste of that, but worse in every way. I’ve put in 20 or so hours hoping it’d get good, but it’s just plain bad and unoriginal in every way.
I have finished the campaign in Anno 1800 and am away for a few days, so while I consider if I want to keep playing it for a while post-credits, I’ll just be on Marvel Snap until I get home.
I loved the first one but I can’t seem to get onboard with these remasters. Compared to modern day gaming, everything about them frustrates me. I wish they’d do more proper Bluepoint-esq remakes instead.
Having said this, I do think this particular game was an underrated classic!!
I only really liked the first one, and I read a lot of the books which were quite good. But I wasn’t a fan of the changing games after. Now that this is so far removed from that first game and style, I might enjoy it as a different fantasy action game.
My boy, who has always told me the metal music I listen to is ‘boring’, is now asking me to listen to some Metallica as he’s excited for this. So that’s a win I guess??
Looks fantastic! I don’t think it’s so much like Ubisoft-format fatigue that’s around at the moment, but more like Far Cry and Assassins Creed fatigue, because I’m more than happy for that tried and tested formula to be applied to other IPs.
I played online for the first time recently after a lifetime of single GTA games. For new players it’s incredibly bloated, with very little new player introductions to mode mechanics, and a lot of those mechanics are very dated compared to modern day online games. I’ve had some fun in it solo as playing with other people is just endless griefing or like the solo missions, wildly unbalanced. New updates like this would do nothing unless you’re already a vet.
But it’s undeniably GTA and that means it’s core is daft fun, I am very hyped for what a brand new and updated modern online mode in GTA6 will bring.
Do any of these shows impress anymore? Can’t remember the last time we had one where the general consensus was that it was full of exciting new reveals.
@BamBamBaklava89 Agreed, nobody is completing that grind to get Agent Smith for free.
I enjoy the game, but it’s very basic (no end of game stats?) and the whole thing seems designed to get you to grind or pay. Would be much more enjoyable to have some custom mode selections and all the fighters and just have it as a normal priced game.
@get2sammyb 100% Wetherspoons for this. Imagine a Tekken level in a spoons, knocking over someone’s pitcher of cocktail and £2 pint of Fosters, while a Monday curry special goes flying. Amazing.
I have bought it twice. Once on release for PS3 10 years ago, and then once for PS5 on the cheap last year. Thought enough time had passed to do another play through! Admittedly only got in 10 hours or so before I moved on, it’s feels quite dated to me, but it is one hell of a game and just mad how it’s spanned 3 generations.

Re: Until Dawn PS5 Is Priced at $60 / £60
I liked the game when I played it originally. I don’t like it that much. Like the article says, who was even asking for this anyway?
Re: Random: You'll Wish Scrolling Beat-'Em-Up Resident Evil: Survive Was a Real PS5, PS4 Game
@everynowandben The old one is Survivor and the new one is Survive.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 540
Just got the plat on First Descendant so rather than just grind forever more, I’ll delete that and give Mount and Blade 2 a try.

Re: Mini Review: SteamWorld Heist 2 (PS5) - More Mechanical Tactical Magic
Loved the first one (and all Steamworld games) so looking forward to this. Glad it’s kept the charm of the original!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 539
I’ve still been playing First Descendant, despite me at first being very negative. I have half-change my opinion but it sure is addictive!

Re: Borderlands Film 'Final Trailer' Makes Another Play for Your Attention
I love Borderlands, so I will go and see it with an open mind, just to see the world realised.
The casting is way out though. Why they needed Jack Black to do the voice of Claptrap and not the original voice artist, I have no idea.

Really looking forward to Mount and Blade.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The First Descendant?
Regardless of the game, I just can’t get behind the dev team who have so blatantly ripped off other peoples work.

Is this patch applied to the free trial? Haven’t started it yet.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 535
Having a great time with Anno 1800. Size of the UI and console controls and a story mode have made it quite accessible and fun to play.
Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Gets a Free Trial for a Limited Time on PS5

I loved it at the time! But as with most games of that era, borderline unplayable now.

For the Emperor! This looks great. First one was brilliant so glad they’ve built on that in seemingly every way.
Re: As If There Was Any Doubt, a Sequel to the Uncharted Movie Has Been Confirmed

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 531
I am dipping more into GTA Online, but as I’ve never played it before, it’s hard to know where to even start.
Otherwise a few rounds of Multiversus which is fun, but I don’t know how much longevity it has as it’s about as deep as a puddle.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for June 2024 Announced

Chargeable cosmetic DLC? That’s just another name for microtransactions. It’s the same thing!

I’ve been playing Immortals of Aveum, so maybe finish that. I wasn’t sure before I started but I think it’s an excellent game, really enjoyed it.
