Re: Simon Pegg Revealed as the Voice of Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster

InsaneWade

I'm personally buying the game second-hand, and donating the full amount paid to a reputable charity that is alluded in the pinned comment.

@InternetUser And is the Quidditch World Cup game downloadable on Steam, PSN, or Xbox Live to play today? Besides, all the other Harry Potter games had a form of Quidditch, whether part of the game's storyline or a separate mini game feature. No need to knock one's desire to play or see Quidditch tackled with modern controls today.

Re: New, Returning PS Plus Members Can Save £25/$30 Before Xmas

InsaneWade

@belmont It had been behind a paywall since PS3 days, with certain games that prevented you from backing up saves via USB flash drive or incase you didn't have a flash drive handy it was there..

It just remained a feature of PS+ ever since with the only change being the increase of size that the cloud would save. The use of USB flash drives has diminished outside of saving screenshots today, unfortunately.

Re: PSVR2 Pre-Orders No Longer Require an Invite

InsaneWade

@thefourfoldroot1 I recall they did this though, unless it wasn't a thing in Europe with PS Direct invite at the time. I signed up to get an invitation but never received the invite so had to rely on other retail's lottery-like reservation. The lockdown definitely gave the scalpers an advantage with the only online pre-orders then.

Re: Everybody's Favourite Exec Shuhei Yoshida Says Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest Saved PlayStation

InsaneWade

@Vivisapprentice @carlos82 Definitely. The N64 had some quality good titles and all, but PS1 filled in quantity and quality outside the family-friendly feel.

I can sort of agree with the Final Fantasy claim given how FFVII & FFVIII is the 2nd and 4th best-selling PS1 game of all time respectively and FFX being 5th best selling for PS2. Dragon Quest however isn't talked about as much mainstream-wise except among JRPG fans today.

Where I disagree is when Final Fantasy went back to multiplatform in the 360 era, PlayStation had other titles to keep them in the game to this day. That was 15 years ago since the change. Today though it's more like Final Fantasy has PlayStation to thank for the series survival.

Re: Saints Row Team Will Be Folded into Gearbox

InsaneWade

@nomither6 You should re-play the games again and revise yourself on the POC definition before re-reading my comment. It's your choice to ignore how "woke" has been used incorrectly these days that I was referencing. It's not my job to educate you any further. Have a good day.

Re: Saints Row Team Will Be Folded into Gearbox

InsaneWade

@nomither6 "Will you explain how ?"

The underdogs rising up to take over the city via politics, for one. Prominent POC protagonists, option to make your main character as diverse as possible (make a feminine appearing character with masculine voice or vice versa like in SR3 and before). Oh yeah and being able to kiss some of your allies no matter your character's sex in 4.

Just a few things that seem to go under the term "woke" these days.

Re: Death Stranding Celebrates 10 Million Porters on Original Game's Third Anniversary

InsaneWade

Loved this game and the soundtrack. The open world exploration was everything young me during PS1 era envisioned for future games come to life. Seeing the mountain in the distance and being able to physically walk there without invisible walls. Also joins the ranks of God of War in the Father/Son game genre.

But it's strange to see the reactions of people dub it a "walking simulator" and boring. Clearly, we're in an era where world building and storytelling is no longer deemed important for a great game compared to other fast-paced and concised game lengths. It's all about content and what the player gets out of it.

Re: Sony: PS5 Price Increase Hasn't Affected High Demand

InsaneWade

Yeah looking through the document you can see the PS5 started selling at a loss, then they were making profit. But with the economy hitting the fan again they began selling at a loss again. Sucks that they had to be the first ones to raise the price in other regions but what can you do. They knew the demand was so strong adding the value of a physical game to the original cost compared to online scalpers wouldn't bat an eye to the regular consumer.

@Party_Cannon You already can order directly from Sony when stock is available through PS Direct. The other avenues of going directly to a physical store is still preferred to the average consumer if not through online vendors like Amazon.

There will always be scalpers. It just so happened this gen started in the middle of the pandemic. That amplified the difficulty in access with stores not being open or limited to scheduled times won by bots that have since eased up.

Re: Random: Chloe Grace Moretz Is Eager for Sony to Make a New PSP

InsaneWade

@get2sammyb It's like a badge of honor to be out of touch with pop culture and remain ignorant these days.

I assumed she was including the Vita in her statement since it is the PSP2. Maybe next gen Sony will consider another portable type as part of the PS Family with the success of Switch and Steam deck.

Re: Uncharted PC Port Has Lowest Player Count of Any Sony Game at Launch

InsaneWade

@truerbluer Game series reputation, hot buzz on the controversy with Kojima, and probably because both parts of Metal Gear Solid V simultaneously released within the same year (GZ) & day (TPP) of the console ports. And it having a bigger distance narratively from MGS4 for sure.

As for Uncharted, they definitely aren't self-contained. Except Golden Abyss on PS Vita with being a prequel. Starting out with Uncharted 2 for example, the characters talk about events in UC1 that have you wondering what the heck happened. Same in UC4 when they put such heavy emphasis on Nathan debating on quitting after everything he went through when he talks about it.

Pretty much Uncharted has became more niche of a franchise in the previous decade under the shadow of Last of Us and other new mainstream games. This new version is 5-6 years after the original release dates. I'm sure they were expecting bigger sales after the movie's success. But the name "Uncharted" doesn't have a strong buzz like in 2012 anymore.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

InsaneWade

Voted that I don't care. Obviously, if given the choice for 60+ frames and the visuals still look fine then I would choose that. But I'm not going to cut myself off from older games or a developer's vision by avoiding anything less. 30 fps is usually the pace of movies, which PS games are known for on the quality of their storytelling.

Re: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime Is a 'Standalone Work', No Plans for a Second Season

InsaneWade

@Eldritch Maybe it'd be easier for you to understand if we break it down to Cartoons and Anime as two different genres/subjects within the "Animation" umbrella term. The key differences are in the art style, themes, directions, and of course origins. As such there are many variations of cartoons just as there many variations of anime. Like many other genres, some cross, some borrow elements of another but still maintain their own identity.

It'd be like comparing Third person versus First person perspective in video games. They can share the same sub-genres but different origins, directions, themes, and experiences when consuming the products. Whilst still under the video game umbrella.

Re: The Sims 4 Is Now Free for Everyone on PS4, And EA's Already Teasing the Sequel

InsaneWade

Given the history of the series Project Rene will go through major transitions through the years. Checking out Sims 2 and 4 alpha stages is really amazing to see what they experimented with before the final product.

As long as I can still create Sims and generations then I'm pumped.

@Anti-Matter You should look up Sims 1 3D, the project I think was called "Simitone" from FreeSO. There's videos on that project. It is quite amazing.

Re: Reaction: PS Stars Is Overdue Yet Appreciated, But There's Lots of Room to Improve

InsaneWade

I chuckled at seeing "appreciated" in the headline from the usual loud minority who feel anything but in the comments. Anyways, this definitely would've been huge if it was introduced on the PS3 days when PS+ was even more of a benefit. The idea on cashing in on what you bought to get those discounted PS1 classic games would've been juicy on top of PS Home integration.

Right now it feels like baby steps since we have minimal community integration, therefore less places to display our rewards. Unless they find a more public area to view these reward icons, I wouldn't be surprised if they get phased out or redeemable for extra points in the future. It's free and in process so my expectations are low and I'll likely rack them up on the cheaper digital titles.

Re: Reminder: PS5, PS4 Loyalty Scheme PS Stars Is Available Now in Europe

InsaneWade

@Zenszulu "No need to change it simple because one country has a larger population so more of them could potentially be reading it."

Nice twist, but I never said that. It's good to know that you don't consider the development of a program that is free to join and rewards consumers who care enough to participate equated to a shady practice as non-offensive.

As mentioned in my previous 2 comments here, I'm aware of the multiple meanings and therefore unbothered by this. Whilst at the same time I understand and merely have chosen to take the time to spell it out for those who at least seem like they want to understand why it bothers a number of commenters.

Re: Reminder: PS5, PS4 Loyalty Scheme PS Stars Is Available Now in Europe

InsaneWade

@Zenszulu I'm able to gloss over scheme but the 'outrage' is understandable. There are plenty of words us Americans use that carry negative connotation on the other side of the pond and vice versa. What we do? We honor their request out of respect despite there logically being more Americans than UK or any other smaller-sized country. A simple word switch shouldn't be that big of a deal to receive immediate denial.

As for PS Stars, hopefully they start adding PS Star voucher codes or what not inside the game cases. So that people who still purchase physical copies would be able to redeem the points so it doesn't feel like a push towards more digital sales.

Re: Reminder: PS5, PS4 Loyalty Scheme PS Stars Is Available Now in Europe

InsaneWade

@stvevan Considering the site already reports when products release in American and Asian regions. Along with reporting the American dollar amounts with prices, it means there is a substantial audience to where they deem it worth acknowledging. So with that I'd say it's no trouble to simply switch the word from scheme to rewards.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Just Smashed The Witcher 3's All-Time Concurrent Player Record

InsaneWade

@ATaco I dunno... unless we hear that they're going to revive the DLC & Multiplayer plans that were scrapped because of the colossal release, this is more of a case of "revived/fresh" eyes.

The story and gameplay was always one of it's better aspects, it was just the buggy, unplayable mess and deceptive marketing and the attempts of bribing and locking reviewers from releasing the console port reviews until after consumers could get their hands on it. That bit will always be on CD's head and will forever be mentioned on future game retrospect videos of Cyberpunk. We were just lucky they decided to eat the costs by fixing it to be at least stable instead of dumping it all together.
