Re: Apologies PS3 Anime Fans! Crunchyroll Is Closing Down

InsaneWade

It's astonishing how long the support has been on PS3. The last time I watched Crunchyroll on PS3 was a few years ago in the spare bedroom and it was a bit of a slog browsing through the list before finally being able to watch something compared to when it first appeared as an app.

Re: Sony Coy on Potential PS5 Price Increase

InsaneWade

If the PS5 price is increasing, it's because they will bundle it with a "free" PS+ year subscription / game bundle. It would be the smoothest way to not only increase the PS+ sub count but get the money on top of it.

@The_Moose
"I honestly blame the pervasive narrative out there that there is apparently a huge contingent of the population who are racist, sexist and transphobic and that we must make a big song and dance about the addition of any character who ticks some "victim" box to a video game or movie."

It's amazing how just a simple "first _ character" can be this triggering. I personally just see it and think "Cool, weird that it took this long" and then move on.

Re: Ex-Square Enix Dev Heard Rumours of Sony Buyout

InsaneWade

@KundaliniRising333 Care to elaborate on Square Japan's slump?

I don't know, Eidos has been taking more deals with Microsoft for over a decade advertising their games on Xbox first despite selling way more on PlayStation. Plus, Crystal Dynamics have been stunted creatively with Eidos having them only focus on Tomb Raider (check their cancelled titles) until recently. I wouldn't be surprised if the IPs get adopted into the Xbox family in the future looking at how their next focus is a Perfect Dark reboot.

Another factor, Sony has gotten more western after dumping the house of Ape Escape, Square joining in would fill the void missing again.

Re: Ex-Square Enix Dev Heard Rumours of Sony Buyout

InsaneWade

It makes the most sense given the tight history Sony and Square had starting in the mid-late 90's. Sure, they expanded out during the 360 era but clearly they sold the most on the PS side despite that.

If true, they could have it similar to Bungie. FFXIV brings so much revenue for only being on PS & PC, they would then still be able to continue selling multiplatform while getting enough of the cut.

Re: In-Depth The Last of Us Remake Comparison Deep Dives PS5 Improvements

InsaneWade

The natural dynamic lighting that I see in modern games doesn't always blend well with older games when remade. It seems the stylized choice with the shadows makes certain areas look much better originally.

Anyway, no one can say Naughty Dog did nothing with this remake. The developers obviously put work into this. Dismissing their time spent on this as "lazy" is just insulting the developers and not the upper management who placed the responsibility on them.

Re: Final Fantasy 10 Series Blitzes Past 20 Million Units Sold

InsaneWade

@Ralizah I actually share most of your sentiments except I rate XII even lower than X 😜. I was about 12 when I finally got to play this game and right after playing FFVIII and Chrono Cross with a "mature" main protagonist, Tidus really grated my nerves. I missed the overworld exploration and find the linear forward pathways very limiting.

But overtime, I've grown to accept Tidus' personality, the turn based system finally allowed us to switch between other characters on the fly and newer fans could easily get into the game without interruptions. I get it when people love this game, I don't love it but I like how defining of a title it is.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I's Emotional Intro on PS5 Has Leaked

InsaneWade

@micolash_the_host Maybe you've forgotten but no matter what is shown ever since Last of Us Part 2's leak, Naughty Dog has been torn to pieces. So why would they think this scene being purposely leaked would make any difference?

If there was a more purposeful leak it would be on the environment and how much the in-game world looks like now. Is it Shadow of the Colossus Remake huge of a difference? Stuff that would really kill the "cash grab" rhetoric.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Stray?

InsaneWade

Had to put "not yet, but I will" for playing because there's an error each time I try to download it. It's fine, it'll be worth it.

I don't own a cat, but there's some adorable strays in the neighborhood that I greet daily who take good care of cleaning my yard of lizards and frogs.

Re: Sony Officially Acquires Bungie, Accelerates Vision to Create Generation-Spanning Entertainment

InsaneWade

@ScepticDK It's called mutual gain with Bungie. Wherever Bungie's games sell at Sony will reap the profit. Multiplatform is consumer friendly these days, yeah? So now part of Xbox player's money will go to Sony with the live service.

Haven has garbage developers? That's weird, I read it was veterans of former franchises like say.. Call of Duty? They're focusing again on multiplayer titles. What could be the next Fortnite, PUBG, etc. now that Call of Duty's fate on Sony platforms after the next game is up for debate.

It's too early to tell, but they're clearly planning for the future or at least attempting.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for July 2022 Revealed

InsaneWade

@IonMagi Welp, now that we know it was an "error" guess we can thank the Italian blog for confirming how bad Sony's handling this.

@itsfoz It feels like we're in the beginning stages still, since they're still hiring more workers dedicated to the archiving. It's such a shame that the PS3 really is holding back all the gold in the classic titles.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for July 2022 Revealed

InsaneWade

@IonMagi I'm pretty sure we'll get those as well in the next update (early August?). My guess is they have PAL International versions ready. I'm only saying this since Asia at launch had a smaller selection than us and had to wait until US/Europe launch to gain the missing games as well. Not defending them, this is just my assumption.

Re: No Crunch on The Last of Us PS5, Says Environment Artist

InsaneWade

@nessisonett This is unfortunately the age of where we can tweet out a developer "source?" when they announce a game or release date. In between the waves of doubt and entitlement is sprinkles of reasonable and intelligent arguments.

You'd think ND were strapping us into a high chair and feeding TLOU in a huge spoon to our mouths from some comments across the web.
