@Marquez I wasn’t crazy about the story at first but the last hour or so is amazing. I wish I had focused on completing the story first and done all the side stuff last.
Nice. I still haven’t finished the main story (took a break to play Jedi Survivor) but I only have the final mission left to do I think. I’ve already completed all the side content. I thought the dlc was good but not outstanding. I’m sure Guerrilla and Sony are pleased with these numbers though.
Edit: Sorry, I saw the image and thought the article was referring to the dlc. I haven’t had a coffee this morning 😂
I’m not like, ‘down with the monarchy!’ or anything but it isn’t the same since the Queen passed away. I was going to try and watch a bit of the coronation but I was looking after my two Nephews this weekend, so that went out of the window. We went to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 3 instead (amazing btw) and spent two hours at Total Ninja. Oh and lots of Fortnite. The new Star Wars collab is brilliant.
@Totheteeth same, I haven’t had any issues really on PS5. My game did crash one time after I’d exhausted all the conversations at the Cantina and I had to listen to all the conversations again (that was painful) but other than that it’s been fine.
I’m 27 hours in and it’s an 8 for me. I’m enjoying the game a lot but the main story feels a bit underwhelming so far. I think it’s partly due to the switch to a more open-world style game. With these huge and complex maps to explore, it’s easy to get side-tracked and any urgency in the main story is lost.
I am enjoying the exploring though tbf (and will probably get 100% collectibles) but I think I preferred Fallen Order’s more linear approach. I thought the pacing in Fallen Order was much better (and the story was more exciting) whereas Jedi Survivor feels a bit more laid back, like it’s not in a hurry to go anywhere. I’ve enjoyed every minute, don’t get me wrong but I really expected more from the story. I haven’t finished it yet so the ending might be crazy good but that’s how I feel so far.
I completely forgot about PS Stars until I logged into my account last night. I do think it’s annoying that you have to activate the challenges on the app before they start tracking. Ive played so many games in the last 12 months but because I haven’t logged into the app, I haven’t got any rewards (only points for purchases).
They could have a solid lineup of games by now if they put in the effort during the XB1 gen. You can’t achieve success over night - it takes time, money and talent. They’ve wasted the last 10 years.
Really enjoyed this game and I’m not usually a fan of Sonic games. I’ve always found them a bit repetitive but the open world aspect in Frontiers sets this one apart - with the classic-style Sonic levels not being the main focus. I actually enjoyed these levels more because of it. Just a shame there wasn’t a snowy world but I heard they ran out of money towards the end.
Watched my Dad play Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and MGS on the PS1 - the PS1 startup sound is forever imprinted in my mind. Bought my first console (PS3) when I started working and have been PlayStation ever since. I tried Xbox with the XB1 but nothing compares to PlayStation.
I think it could get there eventually but we’re still a long way off. If Xbox was the leading platform, MS would really push it and probably get us there sooner. Thankfully they aren’t because I like how things are now.
I loved the first Horizon game but I lost interest in the main storyline after they jumped the mechanical shark in Forbidden West. The main storyline feels like a bad SyFy show now. Burning Shores is still fun to play but it doesn’t really go any deeper than that for me anymore. I did like Seyka though - I thought she was the best part of the dlc.
One criticism of the dlc specifically… I think it was a mistake to have the flying mount unlocked from the start because it removed the need to travel on foot and reduced the feeling of danger/wonder when exploring the new map. Your flying mount should have been destroyed as you flew towards the Burning Shores and only replaced when you override the Waterwing.
Most of the people posting 1 star reviews probably haven’t even played it. They’ve just seen the articles online about the ending (which I haven’t reached yet but have a good idea what’s got their knickers in a bunch). Some people were mad about it being PS5 exclusive which could be a factor too. But I mostly think it’s the other thing.
My only issue with the Horizon series is the silly direction they went with the story in HFW. But now anyone criticising the game at all will be labelled a redneck or whatever (like what happened with TLoU2).
Burning Shores and I’m enjoying a lot more now after my initial disappointment. It is more of the same but I’m starting to get into the story of the dlc now and it’s pretty good.
Dead Island 2 I only played an hour or so last night but I liked it. I’ve already killed around 50 zombies and I do wonder if it might get a bit repetitive but I’m enjoying it for now.
Tomb Raider (2013) I started replaying this last week when I had nothing else to play and forgot how good it was. I got pretty far (to the beach area) and will probably finish the story over the weekend. Hope we get a new Tomb Raider game soon.
I’m enjoying it so far but was initially disappointed that it didn’t look or play any different to Forbidden West - I had the flickering lighting and pop in too but mostly it’s been fine.
It’s also been a challenge having to learn all the moves again after a year gap between the main game and the dlc. There’s the crafting system, different weapon types and ammo, armour styles and upgrades, potions, traps and melee moves to relearn. Plus the new skills/moves in the dlc. It’s probably more enjoyable for those going straight into the dlc after completing the main game.
@tallythwack you load up your last save of the main game and a few seconds after the game loads you get a call from Sylens asking you to meet him at Trinity’s house. After you speak to him there’s a cutscene with Aloy flying to the Burning Shores area.
@Orpheus79V yeah I agree. I wish it had been a stand-alone release. It had been over a year since I completed the main game and it felt a little underwhelming just loading your previous save and receiving another quest.
I also wish the dlc let you play as the new character Seyka because I find Aloy painfully dull and boring after HFW. There’s no depth to Aloy’s personality, she just helps random people because she’s kind and good to everyone 😴 Seyka is a much more interesting character.
I didn’t bother renewing my PS+ Sub when it ran out last year. I don’t play online much except Fortnite (and you don’t need PS+ to play that). Now I just buy a month here and there when I need to. I bought a month of PS+ yesterday so I could download HFW to play the Burning Shores dlc.
On the entertainment side however, there has been a subscription massacre. I’ve cancelled Prime Video, Apple TV, Now Cinema, Now Entertainment and soon to be joining them: Netflix (once they bring in their greedy password sharing ban). The only one I’ll be keeping is Disney+, unless they start with the greedy practices too.
I expected it to look better tbh. It just looks like the base game to my eyes. I thought there would be a noticeable difference with the dlc being exclusive to PS5. It’s just more of the same really. I haven’t seen anything (yet) to suggest this wouldn’t run on a PS4 🤷♂️
Just started Burning Shores this morning and I’d say it’s more like a sixth of the size of the FW map. Unless new areas are opened up as the story progresses?
I wouldn’t say I had a phobia of water but I would never go in the sea or a lake or anything irl.
The water sections in HFW didn’t bother me but I remember playing Stranded Deep and feeling really uneasy when you have to dive down to the wrecks for supplies. The sea monster fights were pretty nerve-racking too. The feeling of relief when you make it it dry land 🙏 I really enjoyed Stranded Deep though - it’s one of those games I’ll never forget.
Tchia had a deep ocean wreck too and when I was about half-way down I thought ‘I don’t like this’. Maybe I do have a phobia 😂
I sold my copy of HFW so I’ll have to get a month PS+ sub before I purchase the dlc. Looking forward to it even though I didn’t love the direction they went in HFW.
I watched the 15 minute gameplay video last week and it looks quite fun. I haven’t even played the PS3 games but I’ll definitely be picking this one up.
@Omnistalgic it does feel like the hostility towards JKR has lessened in recent months. And I’m happy about that because I don’t think she’s the terrible person we’ve been lead to believe she is. But hopefully this will lead to more productive and sensible discussions on the subject going forward.
As a newcomer to the world of HP I thought Hogwarts Legacy was brilliant. It had some flaws but overall it was everything I could hope for as a HP fan. Can’t wait for the new series and I’m happy JKR is going to be involved. It has the potential to be something truly special.
For the first time in forever I’ve found myself with nothing to play 😫
Just waiting for Dead Island 2 next week and Jedi Survivor the week after.
Really not looking forward to the gaming drought in between Jedi Survivor and Spider-Man 2. I might have to actually leave the house and see how much the world has changed since last time 😂
@zupertramp my biggest issue with Prometheus and Covenant was the crew (except for David). I’ve always said if Prometheus had the crew from Danny Boyle’s Sunshine it would be a much better film. The crew in Prometheus (and Covenant) were all so unlikeable and poorly written. I still like the movies but they could have been so much more. Michael Fassbender was brilliant as David though.
@havoc33 Alien 3 gets a bad rap but it’s always been my favourite Alien movie, despite its flaws. I only wish someone would George Lucas the dodgy composite puppetry and replace it with modern CGI. But keep the practical effects - they were perfect.

@trev666 I agree. ZD was amazing. I couldn’t stop thinking about the story for weeks after. FW left me cold.

I must be one of the lucky ones because I haven’t had any issues other than one crash but that happens with every game.
Re: PS Store Sales Charts: The Last of Us 2 Rides High on HBO Series Success
It’s a decent game but not as good or iconic as the first. The pacing was all over the place.

What is it about Fortnite that makes people shake their fists at the sky? 😂
I’ve been playing since Chapter 2 Season 4 (the Marvel season) and I still think it’s great. I can’t see myself ever not wanting to play it tbh.

@Soulless666 are you though? It seems like you want to hate the game. Give it a chance and form your own opinion.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?
@Soulless666 it’s actually very good. You should try it.

Nearly voted 8 but voted 7 instead.

I’m enjoying it so far. I only wish the standard zombies were easier to kill. It shouldn’t take 4 hits to the head (with a sword) to take one down.
