Is it just me or did this trailer not look or feel like RE4 at all? It’s been years since I last played it but this trailer made it seem a lot weirder and cringier than I remember. Felt like I was watching the trailer for a completely different game.

Not expecting much really like everyone else. I am looking forward to watching it though.

If only MS would put some effort into making some decent games instead of flashing their chequebook. Sony EARNED that market share through hard work and good investments. MS have done nothing. They’ve been promising great games since the early days of the XB1. Where are they?

MS are promising to release COD on PS consoles after the acquisition is approved but if I had a dollar for every u-turn MS had made in the last ten years, I’d be as rich as they are.

@zupertramp I think the actor who played Maria was also in TWD. She played Michonne’s old friend who shows up at Alexandria and kidnaps Judith. I think it’s her anyway.

@zupertramp it doesn’t feel like they’ve been through much at all in the show but in the game you really felt that they had gone through the wringer by this point. Now they’ve had a lovely break in Jackson with hot meals and showers and they’ve only encountered two clickers and a handful of raiders lol. Where’s the struggle? I know they had the soccer-mom and the swarm in the previous episode but it never felt like they were in serious danger. Looking back, as much as I enjoyed the third episode it really feels out of place and wasted too much time. The focus should have been on Joel and Ellie because they’re just rushing through the story now and it hasn’t allowed for any genuine chemistry to grow between them. They feel so two-dimensional compared to the characters in the game.

I have this on my list to buy but there are so many other games I need to get through, I don’t know when I get around to it.

It’s so good. You can tell that a lot of love went into this game. In the wrong hands it could have been a disaster but there’s so much depth. And the attention to detail makes it feel like a living, breathing world. Avalanche should be very proud at what they have achieved. Definite GOTY contender.

I’ll keep watching but I don’t think they’ve captured the ‘long journey’ aspect of the game very well at all. It’s been fun watching the episodes week by week and seeing how they compare to the game but I have no desire to rewatch the show (the sign of a great series). I just don’t feel connected to the actors or the story like I did in the game.

I know critics raved about the quality of this show but I don’t think it’s anywhere near as good as they (or it) think it is. It’s just ok.

@Dr-M I’ve never played Super Smash so I couldn’t say. I do think the pricing of the alternate styles and other cosmetics harmed the game. There was no way I was ever going to spend that much money on a single style, so it was easy for me to walk away. If the cosmetics were more reasonably priced and I’d invested money in the game (outside of the season pass) I may have had more reason to stick with it. But they made it easy for me to walk away. I also think the grind was too much. It was bad enough in season one but season two was even worse. I actually really enjoyed my time with the game but they wanted too much of my time to the point where it stopped being fun. It’s a shame but it’s the same mistake these kinds of games keep making over and over again. And they wonder why the end result is always the same.

Hogwarts Legacy and what a brilliant game it is. I heard someone say that Hogwarts is to HP fans what the Arkham games were to Batman fans and I totally agree. It’s so much better than I hoped it would be.

It was pure cringe and really fun actually. As open-world games go, I’ve played a lot worse.

I think the marketing failed this game. People never got over that first reveal.

It’s brilliant. Just when you think you’ve seen everything, the game gives you something new to do.

It happens all the time sadly and it’s ALWAYS unacceptable. The voice actors involved in Hogwarts Legacy have had to deal with online abuse and harassment recently too but nobody wants to call out the people giving them abuse.

@REALAIS I understand they need to make money - we knew the Premium Shop was coming (although perhaps not whilst the game is still in Beta). But charging £17.99/$19.99 for three pieces of furniture is obscene. It can’t be justified. The furniture packs should have been priced at £4.49/$4.99 (which is still ridiculous imo). This would encourage more people to buy them and they’d make more money overall.

It doesn’t help that the new Star Path is the weakest one yet and is made up of 60% motifs, which are useless. All the big decorative/furniture items that should be included (as they were in previous Star Paths) are now being sold on the Premium Shop instead. Greed.

Unfortunately the update has been completely overshadowed by the introduction of the ‘Premium Store’ where they’re charging 4,850 moonstones for a furniture pack containing three items.

To put that into perspective, the 5,500 moonstone pack costs £17.99/$19.99 on the PlayStation Store.

I love this game but Gameloft have allowed their greed to take monetisation to a new level of extreme. It’s a real shame.

I completed the pre-season 1 battle pass and the season 1 battle pass but quit the game after that. Didn’t play a single match in season 2. It felt so good to drop it and I haven’t looked back. I don’t miss logging in everyday to do the same, tedious quests one bit.

Plus, the season 2 battle pass wasn’t anywhere near as good as season 1 and the grind was ridiculous. The game was fun to play for a few rounds here and there but the amount of time they expected you to play (to level up) was so far beyond realistic for most people. It felt more like a chore to complete the battle pass rather than something fun. It just wasn’t worth it.

The Halloween event is a perfect example of how awful the grind was and how little they valued your time. You had to WIN something like 780 games in 30 days to unlock all the rewards. That’s 26 games every day (for a game that stopped being fun after 3 games).

Add to that the sheer greed of them. The prices of the new character styles was disgusting honestly. More expensive than Fortnite. Less value and entertainment than Fortnite. Basically they killed their own game with greed and too much grind.

At least they’re working on a fix for the people affected. Some games with glitched trophies never get patched - you just have to start again and hope for the best (if you can be bothered).

Imagine how many consoles they’ll sell when the new Spider-Man game comes out at Christmas.

I know money is no object for them but nobody wants to throw away money on an unsuccessful business venture indefinitely.

Everything seems to hang on this Activision acquisition - MS desperately need it to be approved if they ever hope to be seen as serious competition for Sony/Playstation. I wonder what will happen if it’s stopped?

@Controller-Drift yeah, she came across as an angry soccer mom. And they can be scary but it’s hard to believe that a bunch of gun-toting, neck-beards would follow the orders of a woman in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Especially someone like Kathleen. Maybe I’m not giving them enough credit but history has shown us that (some/most) men don’t accept women being in positions of power, sadly.

I haven’t really been feeling Bella as Ellie but seeing her reaction to Henry shooting himself made me appreciate her a great deal more as an actor. That was very well done. The young kid who played Sam was excellent too.

@KingPev It’s a tough one to recommend because the reception to it has been so polarising.

The first hour or so was painful - the character controls felt really clunky and the dialogue was comically bad. But after a while (I think once you’re given free reign of the map) it all sort of warmed to me. I focused on levelling up my powers and clearing POI’s on the map and the gameplay became so addictive. The dialogue was still horrendous but I found myself laughing with it rather than at it. I just accepted that it had its own unique and quirky personality.

You might not have the same experience as I did but there’s a good chance you will too.

Forspoken. And after 56 hours 37 minutes I heard the sweet ping of the Platinum. You can probably get the platinum in around 40 hours but I enjoyed the game so much, I just took my time and did nearly all of the side content (which isn’t required). This was the first big surprise of the year for me.

Now I have a dilemma… continue Dead Space or start Hogwarts Legacy…? Or Sonic Frontiers…?

@Wheatly They’re scared that if they don’t speak out against her, they’ll be accused of being anti-trans and treated the same way. They’ll suddenly find themselves getting fewer roles, fewer awards, less promotion and being uninvited from special events and awards ceremonies. Fear is a powerful weapon and it takes an extremely strong person to stand up to it.

It does feel like there’s an element of sexism in the backlash against JKR too. Successful, self-made woman speaking up for her beliefs being told to shut up, sit down and get in line. It’s nothing women haven’t had to put up with for thousands of years anyway I guess.

I also feel bad for the people who worked on this game. All the odds were against them but they were able to create something genuinely good that’s been received positively by critics and fans alike. And yet the ‘controversy’ surrounding JKR is always there in the background putting a dampener on everything. It must be annoying for them.

My copy arrived today along with Sonic Frontiers but I still have to finish Dead Space. Too many games!

It might not be the only reason people buy a PS5 but it could be enough of a reason to make you reconsider and maybe purchase an Xbox instead - especially if your friends are thinking the same.

If your main games are COD and FIFA and you only play Sony’s first party games once in a blue moon, losing COD is a big deal. The exclusive games aren’t really a selling point for these people, it’s just a cool bonus. But take away COD (or any of their other mainstream games) and it’s an immediate dealbreaker. That’s why it needs to be stopped.

MS know exactly what they’re doing. Can’t beat the competition fairly… try something underhand instead.

I don’t know why people are so angry about this game. Like it’s very existence is an affront to nature and must be destroyed or something lol

I’m definitely up for some dlc. Really enjoyed the game despite its flaws.

I hope it is stopped. People think Gamepass is the future and every game will be free forever. But once they have a monopoly, they can (and most likely will) charge whatever they want. Even if they just slowly increase the price of the subscription because of ‘inflation’ or whatever. Look at Netflix and their shamelessly greedy practices in the last few years.

I couldn’t get into Witcher 3 but this skin is pretty cool.

I’m still gutted we didn’t get an Avatar: The Way of Water collab for the movie. I heard it might be because James Cameron doesn’t like guns and he wouldn’t want his Avatar characters associated with gun violence but they added Sarah Conner and Ellen Ripley skins, so who knows?

Can’t believe it’s been less than five years since RDR2 came out. Feels more like ten.

@Atreus97 yeah, I absolutely loved the first game and will most likely enjoy every second of this too. But it does look almost identical to the first game.

@get2sammyb Well I am surprised. I only watched one of the early trailers and saw the game artwork and assumed it was an Avengers/Gotham Knights style game (and wrote it off). I feel like I need to watch a few more trailers now to see if it’s something I might enjoy. I wonder if I’m not alone in thinking this?

I haven’t played it but it looked too much like that awful Avengers game so I didn’t give it the time of day. Same with that Gotham Knights game. I just wish they would make a single player, story-driven game with these characters instead of, well, whatever these games are. Insomniac have the right idea - I want more of that.

Suicide Squad is giving me similar vibes also but I’m more inclined to give that a chance because it’s Rocksteady.

Jury’s still out for me. I feel like the more the show progresses, the less they feel like Joel and Ellie.

Pedro was very out of character in this episode.

The dialogue was a bit clumsy too. Ellie: ‘Joel, did you kill innocent people?’ Now, I wanted him to say… ‘The world changed and we did what we had to to survive.’ But instead he just hangs his head in shame and continues up the stairs in silence.

So glad it’s scoring well everywhere. This is going to be the biggest game of the year 😁

The JKR section of the review was unnecessary imo.

As much as I enjoyed last weeks episode, I feel like it’s disrupted the pacing quite a bit. It reminded me of those single-character-centric episodes we used to get in TWD (like the Cheese Man episode, when Morgan gets his stick). It was a great episode but in a short season like this, it feels like they now have to rush through and skip-over so many important parts of the game.

@Vil yeah, even if it’s average in every way possible, it’s still freakin Hogwarts 😁 I don’t think it will be though.

@Loamy I honestly don’t think it has anything to do with race (at least for the majority). That’s just an easy excuse for the people involved in creating the game to hide behind (and I love the game). There are loads of successful games with black/non-white protagonists.

@tallythwack the gameplay is actually the best part imo. The times when you’re left to explore the open world is when I had the most fun. Also, I haven’t had a single bug/glitch or game crash in my 45 hours playing, which is rare these days.

The dialogue is a bit cringe but that’s what gives the game its quirky personality. I always thought the dialogue in the Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy games was cringe too but everyone raves about those 🤷‍♂️

Edit: I do think it’s getting more hate than usual because it’s PS5/Console Exclusive too.

Forspoken. I’m in the home stretch of the story now and I love this game. I don’t know if it’s because I had low expectations or what but it’s been one of the biggest surprises for me in ages.

Still a fair bit of side content to do as I work towards the platinum - should keep me busy for a few more days until Hogwarts arrives 😁😁😁

@Ssimsim the problem with the new live service games is they’re too greedy and charge too much for paid content ($20 character variants in Multiversus for example - complete rip-off). And they’re always super-grindy to keep you playing for hours every day. I quit Multiversus after season 1 because it was clear that they don’t have any respect for their userbase.

I tried it and didn’t like it at all. Surprised to see it had 9 seasons tbh.

Got the platinum for Moon twice (PS4 & PS5) so will definitely pick this up at some point. When exactly that will be is anyones guess because it’s a busy first quarter. The original release date would have fit into my schedule much better - I can’t believe they didn’t consider this 😁

If it’s even half as good as X-Men Origins: Wolverine (PS3) I’ll be happy.
