Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

JeongersGaming

@Dragon83 Death's Door is great, and the servers for Dreams won't close in October, they just aren't updating the game anymore.

Golf game is whatever, good if you like the sport and you don't already own it, but not of interest to many others. I wouldn't call it a terrible game, it's probably well made, just doesn't have wide appeal.

Re: Preview: Persona 3 Reload Shows So Much Promise Despite Missing Features

JeongersGaming

Not really missing anything by not including Portable's female MC, that's why they ported that version to modern platforms. Pretty much everything from FES that isn't The Answer is included, plus the confirmation of brand new events unique to this version.

The Answer is divisive for it's dull gameplay and questionable story choices, and they even avoided adapting it for the series of Persona 3 animated movies. But we may get a new epilogue as DLC.

I can understand this not having everything from every version of P3 plus new stuff on top, because it's a remake of a near 20 year old game with a runtime of 80 hours for it's base version, let alone Answer's extra 30 and the entire second campaign from Portable. You'd be looking at a doubling of development resources for an already large project. Focus on the core that people like the most, then maybe add more later.

Re: Konami Forced to Clarify MGS Master Collection Is 1080p, Up to 60FPS on PS5, PS4

JeongersGaming

@vrubayka They're ports. They've made a handful of changes fixing minor glitches from the HD Collection release, switching out some of the stock footage with similar clips because they couldn't relicense the originals because some of the companies don't exist anymore, etc.

And the Switch just doesn't have the guts to run emulation of 360/PS3 games, regardless of it's lower framerate.

Re: Konami Forced to Clarify MGS Master Collection Is 1080p, Up to 60FPS on PS5, PS4

JeongersGaming

@vrubayka 1080p is fine for PS2 games, more than fine actually - it's way higher than they were designed to be seen at. Would 2160p be better? Yeah, of course but it's not a night and day difference in visual quality. I can load up any PS2 game on PCSX2 and it looks a bit sharper, like applying a high level of anti-aliasing, as opposed to medium on 1080p. Not exactly a dealbreaker.

I'd even say the difference in quality between 1080p and 2160p for PS2 games is smaller than the difference between 720p and 1080p, and especially between 448p and 720p. Diminishing returns, innit?

Re: Next! Crash Team Racing Gets Unofficial 60fps Patch on PS5

JeongersGaming

The more pressing issue that needs fixing (and likely will never come) is the broken online. If anyone in the party is playing on PS5 and a person skips the track intro sequence, the race will never start, and there's a 50/50 chance someone will be impatient and skip it. It's bad enough having a low player count.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Out on PS4 This Month, Not a Remaster

JeongersGaming

@MagisterMagi It's PS4 Pro enhanced, so it'll be higher than 1080 on PS5 anyway. The trailer is 2160p, did you even bother to check that?

60fps would be nice, but I also don't care if it has to be 30 for technical reasons (RDR code is supposedly messy). Sometimes giving old games that ran at 30 before an unlocked framerate causes problems.

Re: Resident Evil 2 PS5, PS4 Remake Is Now the Series' Best-Selling Game

JeongersGaming

Here's the combined numbers for the major RE games, based on Capcom's data, if anyone is interested.

RESIDENT EVIL 1 - 5.08
RESIDENT EVIL 2 - 4.96
RESIDENT EVIL 3 - 3.50
RESIDENT EVIL CODE VERONICA - 2.54
RESIDENT EVIL 1 REMAKE - 5.25
RESIDENT EVIL 0 - 5.05
RESIDENT EVIL 4 - 12.80
RESIDENT EVIL 5 - 13.90
RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS - 3.80
RESIDENT EVIL 6 - 11.10
RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS 2 - 4.60
RESIDENT EVIL 7 BIOHAZARD - 12.40
RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE - 12.60
RESIDENT EVIL 3 REMAKE - 7.60
RESIDENT EVIL 8 VILLAGE - 8.30
RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE - 4.90

RE2 Remake still has a little way to go before it really becomes the highest selling entry.

Re: TV Show Review: Twisted Metal - Car Crash Entertainment

JeongersGaming

@Wakozako 140% overthinking this. As several others have explained, black humour is used in place of black comedy (does it REALLY matter whether Sammy used humour or comedy, they mean the same thing), and it's probably meant to double as a reference to Twisted Metal Black, cause you know... it's a Twisted Metal TV show? You had to reach so hard for this racism angle I'm inclined to think you're just ragebaiting/trolling.

Re: LISA: Definitive Edition Removes and Changes Content to Release on PS5, PS4

"Definitive Edition"
Play the originals on PC 👍

@HotGoomba @Constable_What Yeah it's a little embarrassing seeing people defend Sony's policy by putting down well received games like this.

You don't see Sony doing this with the big publishers either, it's basically bullying smaller teams. Or their own studios. I'm sure if Neil wanted to put a depiction of underage alcohol or cigarette consumption in TLOU Part 3, or any other taboo subject matter, he'd get it.

Re: The Last of Us Composer Gustavo Santaolalla May Have Teased a New Version of Part 2

JeongersGaming

I dunno it sounds like a good idea to me, Part 2 is currently kind of inferior on a technical level to Part 1 based on the Digital Foundry coverage. Give it the Director's Cut treatment, $10 upgrade for current owners, plus a shiny new PC port for the people who just got in with Part 1 this year. Wouldn't be a terrible amount of work for Naughty Dog (some will still complain about it taking time from new games as with every re-release).

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is the Seventh Best Final Fantasy Game According to Fans

JeongersGaming

I'm going to use this comment section to say that people who claim that FF16 (or any other) isn't a true Final Fantasy game because of the combat are missing the forest for the trees. Final Fantasy has been reinventing itself in various ways every time since the second entry. There are many classic hallmarks that still persist from game to game though, and 16 has many of those. The story and characters are FF as hell, you have the chocobos, moogles, summons, etc. The spirit of FF is there from what little I've played, and from what I've heard, it gets very FFIV later.

As for the turn based side of the equation... only FFI, II, and III can truly qualify as turn based if we're being picky about things. Maybe X?
