It looks alright aside from some technical issues. I just hope there's more to do besides run around and do little puzzles. Is there any kind of civilization? Are there more environments? What do these rumoured cyberspace levels look like? What's the story? Any other playable characters? I guess they've decided to space out their announcements across the month, but I would have preferred a little bit more information.
I prefer the PAL versions of Ape Escape games due to the voice acting. If most of them are 60Hz I'm okay with this.
Actually I think the different English localisations in the European versions might be why they're using that version? It was the same with Ape Escape 2.
Makes complete sense. They're already supply constrained, imagine them giving up some of those consoles to be used in a streaming centre that a minority of people would even use.
@Shigurui we know that Oddworld doesn't have trophies. The thing about that mandate is Sony can choose to revoke it when they please, which seems to be the case with emulation. I think that's the best move since we know the trophy mandate negatively impacted the PS2 on PS4 program.
@Milktastrophe Many people think New and Tasty isn't as good. I think it's good to have both remakes and original versions of games available, because they are different games at the end of the day - some more than others.
@DonJorginho Yeah the jokes about Avatar being forgettable can be funny, but I think people are vastly underestimating how successful the sequel will be.
They've almost certainly not gotten the Michael Jackson music back. Upside is that the replacement music from the PC version actually turned out to be the original tracks after all, so I wouldn't mind hearing them in remastered form actually (just like the Sonic 1 and 2 music was touched up for their mobile versions), but it will be weird at first not hearing Hard Times in Ice Cap Zone, or Stranger in Moscow during the credits.
EDIT: Noticed the menu music is a remix from Sonic Jam on Saturn. Neat callback!
@sanderson72 No clue what else will be there, but they specified around 350 classic games at launch. I'm sure there will be more than one PSP game in that list. We do know from ratings boards that the PSP Ridge Racer and Syphon Filters are coming, maybe they'll be part of the launch.
@eltomo Yeah it must be a huge hassle, and I'm pretty sure it's the reason why the PS2 games on PS4 never got close to the library on PS3.
Frankly, it's not a big issue imo. Trophies can be nice, but there's nothing wrong with playing a game for the sake of enjoying it, without increasing an honestly meaningless number on your account.
@AndyKazama They have been expanding their game development division since it's been their most profitable in the last few years, but uhhhh, games take years to make.
@themightyant
"The recent Tomb Raider Trilogy sold over 38 million copies... is that not enough for you?
Deus Ex HR & MD, which are more niche, sold over 12 million."
And how many of those millions were bought on heavy discounts? Those franchises are 75% off or more regularly. I got the PC versions of the Tomb Raider trilogy for probably £10 all together.
I remember at the PS4 reveal one thing they announced was trial versions of every game, which never happened of course. This feels pretty close to that.
@IonMagi Sony used the same kind of language with boost mode on PS4 Pro, yet I don't think any games suffered from enabling it. Maybe there's some fringe cases, but games at the very least kept the same performance if not better.
"We’re curious whether the game will also support gyro controls"
I'm confident in saying it will. The Switch version has a lot of customisation for the gyro, and the basic stick controls are not that great so I think they know they need gyro as an option for something enjoyable to play
@wiiware They're not the mobile versions per say, but they are brand new ports rather than emulated ROMs like the Mega Drive collection so they're going to share similarities to the mobile versions. Widescreen is confirmed for example.
Saw it a couple of hours ago. It was almost everything I wanted from a Sonic film. If Sonic 3 continues this momentum, we could be in for something special.
I don't mind 1st party not coming day 1 because I mostly don't buy them day 1 anyway, outside of a few exceptions like Rift Apart and Death Stranding. If Returnal and Miles Morales are any indication I won't have to wait too long though for them to be added though, about 1-1.5 years or 2 at a stretch.
@Rob_230 That's what I was thinking. The live service games would make sense to have as day 1 inclusions since we can reasonably expect mtx as another way for then to make money.
To be fair, the amount of Vita games that aren't also on PS3/4 isn't tremendously high, and a good number of the ones that aren't would be pretty tricky to emulate because of the use of both touch panels, or the camera. Uncharted Golden Abysa would be a nightmare, but Killzone Mercenary would be sick to play on a PS5.
@Snake_V5 it would be more difficult to implement, it being more powerful than a PSP means more grunt required to emulate, plus the feature set differences. Granted I'm sure a PS5 wouldn't have trouble emulating the Vita (PS4 would probably be trickier), but then the problems go to the things I mention above. Not many Vita games that aren't already playable on PS4/5 and awkwardness with the small remaining library.
It was fine for what it was. Honestly the salt generated from these - and Nintendo Directs - is funny to me. I go into all of these with zero expectations and I always come out relatively satisfied at least. I left the hype machine behind a while back.
@Atreus97 would make a lot of sense given the timing, the large Japanese focus, and the confirmation of another State of Play coming soon.
This was a rollercoaster of a reveal. First thought was Pragmata, then the dinos came in - must be Dino Crisis! Then I saw the exo suits and thought otherwise causeit looks too out there for that, then I remember Dino Crisis 3, and then there was the red head making me feel more convincedthat this might actually be Dino Crisis, and then finally we get the title reveal.
I've been playing the demo and it's alright in my opinion. I'll wait for a sale probably though. The battle pass is free so I think they know where the wind is blowing on that front. Wouldn't shock me if they retool it by the time Season 2 is set to launch.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Swings Onto PC This August
Pretty cool. Most PC users weren't buying a PlayStation anyway.
Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake Announced for PS5, Out March 2023
@Would_you_kindly Bless Capcom and Sony for making it next gen only.

Re: Super Bomberman R Online Heading Offline in December
@lolwhatno I'm not sure if that bothered them since Metal Gear Survive is still chugging along.
Re: Super Bomberman R Online Heading Offline in December
Hope they have Bomberman R2 on the way.
@Luminous117 It was fun but the long waiting between games killed it for me. Longer than the actual matches it felt like at times.
Re: Oh No! Some PS1 Games on PS5, PS4 Look to Be PAL 50Hz Versions
I prefer the PAL versions of Ape Escape games due to the voice acting. If most of them are 60Hz I'm okay with this.

Re: Xbox Store Leaks Destroy All Humans: Clone Carnage, Standalone Multiplayer DLC
Seems like a logical way to expand on the multiplayer offering in the original Destroy All Humans 2.
Re: PS Plus Games for Asia Officially Confirmed
Toy Story 2 better have trophies.
Re: Multiple PS1 Game Trophy Lists Have Been Revealed
@Shigurui we know that Oddworld doesn't have trophies. The thing about that mandate is Sony can choose to revoke it when they please, which seems to be the case with emulation. I think that's the best move since we know the trophy mandate negatively impacted the PS2 on PS4 program.
Re: Spider-Man Games Could Have Been Exclusive to Xbox
"Good luck finding your unicorn", said Activision, while definitely not seething while hiding behind a smug mask.

Re: Babylon's Fall Still Going Ahead with Second Season of Content
Actually enjoy this, but they need to make it free to play if they're gonna keep it going.
Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Update Could Finally Drop Next Week
Very cool. Hopefully they fix Syndicate next.
Re: Sony May Have PS5 Marketing Rights for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
@DonJorginho Yeah the jokes about Avatar being forgettable can be funny, but I think people are vastly underestimating how successful the sequel will be.
Re: Final Fantasy XV Hits 10 Million Units Sold Worldwide
@Anti-Matter safe to say you're not going to be checking out XVI then? Did you play World of FF? I thought that was a cute little game.
Re: Final Fantasy XV Hits 10 Million Units Sold Worldwide
@Constable_What Agreed. It's very flawed in parts, even more so early on before the updates, but I loved it all the same in spite of those things.

Re: You May Already Own Some of the Retro PS Plus Titles
Since the PS2 games are seemingly recycled from PS4 I hope they fix some of the issues. Ape Escape 2 on PS5 is just... not playable at all...

@eltomo Yeah it must be a huge hassle, and I'm pretty sure it's the reason why the PS2 games on PS4 never got close to the library on PS3.

Re: PS1, PSP Games on PS Plus Premium Can Have Save States, Rewind, and Improved Performance
@sanderson72 it isn't.
Re: Sony Shares First Look at PS Plus Extra, Premium Games
Looks like nobody in the PS Blog comments even bothered to read the actual article and chose to complain about how small the list is.
Apparently some here too.
It's not the full thing, they already confirmed about 350 classic games at launch. There's a whole lot less than those here!
Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake from Bloober Team Reportedly in Development
I would rather they didn't. The original 4 games are all fine as they are, and FAITHFUL ports would be preferred.

Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions
@Jayslow It does provide the actual origins. Sonic 1 on Mega Drive came first.
Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions
They definitely overexplained this, making it seem needlessly convoluted at a glance. The 3 columns in the middle weren't necessary lol.

"Kid game bad"
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man, Returnal Coming to PS Plus Extra, Premium
@BritneyfR_ee if by the monthly games, you mean the basic tier ones, they should still be permanent.

@naruball Warcraft's box office was pretty much carried by China, yeah.
Re: Babylon's Fall Survey Asks for Player Feedback to Offer a 'Better Game Experience'
I enjoyed the demo honestly. Just waiting for a price drop before buying cause I know it's coming soon.
Re: The Crew 2 Is Getting 60fps Support on PS5, Five Years After Release
@Recover20 that and hopefully fixing Syndicate.

Re: Gravity Rush's Kat Cropped Out of International Women's Day Promo on PS5
They could have easily fit both Kat and Sackgirl in if they shrunk them a bit. There's enough white space on the right edge of the screen.

Just listened to the song, it's a good tune to be fair.
