Re: Gamescom Opening Night Live Will Subject Us to More Sonic Frontiers

JeongersGaming

@Royalblues Yeah. I am a Sonic fan, though I won't pretend the games don't have issues, but it can get annoying seeing people who just seem to want to dislike the games before playing them. In the case of game journalists I think that's a poor mindset when going into a game for review.

We've seen the poor initial gameplay reveal, but the things we've seen and heard from people who played it since have been more promising so idk why being "subjected" to more Frontiers is a bad thing here, it seems to be a good thing by and large.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Won't Spin Dash Theatres Until Holiday 2024

I'm feeling fairly confident about Jim coming back for one more go. There's some rich story potential for Robotnik's character development and family history based on the film adapting Adventure 2 that I think would compel him to return. People have exaggerated his comments through an internet game of telephone - He said during the Sonic 2 press tour that he's considering taking a break from acting or even retiring, and it's turned into a lot of people thinking he said Sonic 2 is his final film. In the same press tour he was talking about wanting to wear a fat suit for the third movie, so he still seems to be invested in the role.

But hey, if I'm wrong and he doesn't come back I'm sure we'll still get an entertaining romp.

Re: Sony's INZONE $899 Gaming Monitor Will Automatically Optimise PS5's HDR

JeongersGaming

400 nit HDR for the 1080p monitor seems a bit crap. My current 4K Monitor does about 350 and the HDR is so poor I eventually turned stopped using it. The other monitor seems really nice though. 27 inches is slightly smaller than my current one but I'm okay with downgrading the size somewhat. The 32 inches can feel a bit too big for how close I usually sit.

Depending on the UK pricing I may give it a look, assuming that £999 Amazon price is a placeholder.

Re: Sonic Origins (PS5) - The Genesis of SEGA's Mascot Revisited with Style

Frankly I got over the six MJ (really more Brad Buxer) tracks a while ago. The prototype tunes they're using are quite good in their own way, and I actually think they are better when it comes to the Act 2 variants. The MJ Act 2 tracks are all basically the same, but with less instrumentation and feel a bit half baked compared to how other zones would switch up the melodies - not so with the prototypes.

Also Carnival Night just kind of sucks outside of the Jam sample honestly. Plus it was pointed out to me that the replacement for Ice Cap has the same melody as Crystal Egg Zone from the 8-bit Sonic 2 and Ice Mountain from Sonic Advance so that's nice.

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 PS5 Versions Available to Download Now

JeongersGaming

Weirdly I can't access the upgrade for 7. And I'm pretty sure I bought the game as well as having the PS Plus Collection version. When I go to "select version" I get presented with both the standard and Gold editions. The PS Plus Collection only has that standard version, so I have purchased the game at some point. Hopefully that gets fixed. I'd rather not pay for the game again.

Edit: Just checked my transaction history and I did in fact buy RE7 Gold Edition on 15/06/2020.

Re: Sonic 3 & Knuckles' Music Partially Reworked in Origins to Fill in Missing Tracks

JeongersGaming

Aside from Hard Times Ice Cap being iconic, I can live without the MJ tracks. Honestly the Act 2 variants of those songs are my least favourite in the game, very phoned in and effectively Act 1 but with less instrumentation.

@RogerRoger The prevailing assuming is after Michael passed, the Jackson estate took over and they've been more strict with licensing. Sonic 3 re-releases ended for a decade not long after his death.

@Ristar24 the unused track was meant for a cutscene. It's too slow paced as level music compared to the others to be honest.

@shadow2k Also the Sonic 3 versions of the miniboss and Knuckles themes, but like the credits music they probably would have been absent anyway.

Re: Final Fantasy XVI Finally Comes to PS5 in Summer 2023

JeongersGaming

I would make a joke about it being delayed to late 2024, but Yoshida and his team have enough clout that I mostly believe it (still a chance it slips to later in 2023).

For the combat, it seems it really is just the one guy and no party members. Surprising, this is a first for mainline FF - unless we count Lightning Returns??? (Do we count that?). This will be really controversial but I'm open to it.
