Re: Rumour: Sonic Generations May Make a Comeback During Sony's State of Play

Sonic x Shadow Generations

Really leaning into that movie 3 hype, huh? Sega missed the boat by not having some type of new release to tie into the first two films. A remaster of one of the more beloved modern games with new Shadow content (hopefully not JUST a skin, but something more akin to the DLC in Forces - but better, like a handful of new zones that have relevance to the character) would do well.

If you put any stock into what Zippo says, there might even be a brand new title later in the year that also has a big Shadow focus.

I'm just hoping they've learned their lesson from handing the Sonic Colours Remaster off to an outsourced developer with a spotty track record. Do it in house, update it to Hedgehog Engine 2, give it the polish it deserves.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Remake Hopes Kept Alive by New Report

@Porco Half of the MGS development team doesn't know how to make a game? Many of the key staff who made the series what it was still seem to work over there.

@InsaneWade something like Acid is precisely what I was thinking of. I only want to see the original continuity touched if it's for a Rising sequel.

@Dragoon1994 not great, but not that horrible either. Survive was a low budget multiplayer spin-off of TPP - it's competently made for what it is. There's also the other spin-off games that Kojima is credited for as producer, but in reality had little involvement.

For Rising his only contribution was bringing Platinum into the project after Konami's internal team couldn't get the zandatsu mechanic to work properly with the Fox Engine on PS3 level hardware, and then asking Platinum to make it 60fps (which really, they probably would have done anyway). Otherwise he let them do whatever.

Re: Devs Weigh in on 'Disgraceful' Insomniac Games Data Breach

JeongersGaming

There's been a lot of misreporting on the leak too. People posting that Rift Apart was a flop because the leak "revealed" it only sold 2 million copies with an $80 million budget, but apparently that data is a projection of the first month sales dating back to 2020.

It's better to do like this site and just not cover the details at all.

Re: 19 Amazing Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

JeongersGaming

Okay, so Thrillville: Off The Rails for PS2 was not available on PS4 before, so this would mean that it's the first new PS2 game they've added in years. This might also mean they have a new emulator ready, or they've at least updated that rickety old one? The one that's been used on the currently existing PS2 Classics has some issues, and several games are broken when played on PS5. I though this might have been a typo in the article, but the PS Blog indeed specifically mentions the PS2 version. Potentially big news if it means we can get better PS2 representation on the modern PSN, which could also make Premium a more compelling option. Weird to start with Thrillville though?

Re: Microsoft Still Wants to Put Xbox Game Pass on PS5, PS4

JeongersGaming

Mocrosoft's stable of studios has definitely gotten big enough to support a first (and second party for other titles - Kojima's Overdose) party only version of Game Pass for non Xbox console Platforms. If Ubisoft and EA can have their own subscription services to themselves, why not Xbox, if they really do want to pursue this path of getting Playstation and Nintendo users playing their portfolio - even if it means Halo on PS5.

It feels a bit like an endgame scenario when it comes to Xbox hardware though, what happens there? There's a notable amount of people who have invested heavily into the Xbox console ecosystem.

Re: Sony's Probably Not Done Partnering with Korean Devs

JeongersGaming

It's really nice to see an increased focus on the greater asian area in the industry, especially with Sony's Hero Projects helping blossom a development scene in places like India. For so long in the console market in particular the focus has been on "Western games" (North America and Western Europe) and Japanese games - not "Eastern games", just Japanese ones really.

@Mephisto2869 Yeah, people are only just starting to notice the tip of that iceberg.

Re: 'Development Is Progressing' on Ubisoft's Troubled Prince of Persia Remake

JeongersGaming

Considering this has gotten the Metroid Prime 4 treatment where development was shifted to an entirely different studio and rebooted, it's probably fair that we haven't seen it since that first reveal. Just look at how long Prime 4 has been kept under wraps. Sure, it's a remake and not a new game but it'll still take some time, especially if they want it to look better than that reveal.

Re: Video: Why Sony Will Never Make the PS Vita 2

JeongersGaming

The PSP and Vita were wonderful devices, but people need to accept that dedicated handheld consoles can't really exist like that anymore. The Switch is successful, but it's also Nintendo's sole hardware line, acting as both their home and portable systems. They were struggling to support both Wii U and 3DS, it'll only be worse with PS5 quality console titles and PS4 quality handheld titles. There's no way Sony will make the PS6 a hybrid device like the Switch either, the larger audience would be outraged at the compromises necessary for that to be achievable.

Handheld PC devices like the Steam Deck, and streaming devices like the PS Portal are the only viable options in the current market.

Re: Rumour: One of Assassin's Creed Red's Protagonists Is Based on African Samurai Yasuke

JeongersGaming

>He apparently ends up in Japan after his slave ship is wrecked

That's really funny, they take inspiration from this real African individual and change his background to be that of a slave when the real world equivalent (possibly) wasn't. This would be the 3rd of 4 black AC protagonists to have the transatlantic slave trade be a part of their character?

And yeah, as others have said, Yasuke's IRL significance is a little blown up in modern accounts of his story (was not actually a samurai), but Assassin's Creed has always been farcical at it's attempts at representing history so like, whatever I guess.

Re: Insomniac Confirms Primary Marvel's Spider-Man Moving Forward

I may be coping, but I'm certain Peter taking a break means exactly that, it's a break and he will be back. It goes against his character completely to retire at such a young age. With great power, comes... no responsibility???

@czDante92 That's always been the biggest problem with Miles. Everything he has is from Peter, those electric powers came about as a desperate attempt to make him different. His rogues gallery is also the same as Peter's, the Prowler is basically the one main villain he has of his own (and that's still an obscure Peter villain, but he wasn't getting much use so whatever). If they follow through with this and actually have Miles against the Green Goblin - Peter's nemesis, without Peter stepping back into the fold... ridiculous.
