I think I'll pass. I've had the game in my collection for ages and still never finished it. Not sure why, I just found it boring and I hate that since its very rare that I don't gel with a 1st party game from Sony.
@Ralizah Many of those games have never been re-released physically so it would be something else. Rayearth being one of them, more people need to experience that game.
I feel like we get more remasters and remakes compared to new games these days, not helped by the fact that they are often of PS4 games.
You don't see people complaining about Freedom Wars being remastered, because that game was stuck to a console that sold poorly just like the Wii U. I doubt most people have even played that game.
But people are buying these, given The Last Of Us Part I sold super well so I guess its free money.
If its not reviews someone is going to, its listening to someone else's opinion whether it be on YouTube or on forums. Their opinion may not align with yours on the same game, 90% of the time the only to know if you'll like something or not is trying it out.
However, its not like the average person or even most people have either the time or money to try every game that comes their way. This is why renting games was important and to an extent demos.
Just use whatever you want, in the end there's preemptive way of knowing you'll like something even of dedicated franchises. Someone might love Monster Hunter World and then think Monster Hunter Rise is just okay.
@Sherlock- You know what I mean their audience is not the same. The same people who buy CoD and Fifa every year are not buying a Switch.
Games selling better on Switch is because the user base is that much larger for one and they've carved out something unique that you can't get anywhere else with a console with the whole handheld hybrid thing. They have their own market and always have. Same way the Wii outsold everyone else while people were arguing between the 360 and PS3.
If I didn't already own a PS5 and it came with the disc drive and stand and was cheaper. It would need all of those things to even be considered.
From that outlook is the only way I could see myself being tempted. I believe the PS4 to the PS4 Pro was a much larger gap and was more substantial. This generation needs more games though. It is really as simple as that.
@get2sammyb Well, Nintendo does their own thing. Nintendo is their own sort of bubble, they have a long history and very dedicated fans. Xbox/PlayStation consoles are usually way more closer to one another comparatively to a Nintendo console. See the PS3/360 vs the Wii and the PS4/Xbox One vs the Wii U.
If you want the fancier resolutions, framerate and all that.
Your options are between PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
The allure of a console is the cheaper price and the pick up and play aspect to it. Surely, consoles can't keep becoming more and more expensive right? Excluding Nintendo, since their consoles are usually cheaper due to not going in as hard on the hardware.
Microsoft wouldn't be seen as lesser if they actually seemed like they were trying.
The whole situation with Redfall, the worsening of the Halo IP and the shuttering of Tango Gameworks after saying they really needed games like Hi-Fi Rush.
I mean what are they actually doing? Tango is owned by Krafton now, but that's still not a good look on Xbox's part. Feels like Xbox has been floundering around since the Xbox one release nearly a decade ago now. Their showcase was promising, but I sure hope that many of those games turn out excellent so it kicks Sony into high gear again because we have seen what happens when Sony gets arrogant and cocky.
Whether you like Xbox or not, competition is always good and does nothing but benefit us, the consumer.
I can buy a PS5 which comes with the stand and the disc drive for $499.99. This is $200 more and it comes with neither the stand nor the disc drive, which will drive up the price even more. It doesn't help that consoles this generation haven't had any price drops, whatsoever.
And for what? Not like the games supported will be massively different compared to the base model. If this is how much the Pro costs, I can't imagine the PS6 being that far away from it in price and I don't think I'll be able to justify the price of a PS6 at that point.
And at that point, might as well buy a PC. You can do much more with that than a console, if you're going to spend a ton of money anyway.
I hope it fails; Sony needs to get checked. This generation has been middling compared to previous ones.
Between this and upping the costs of controllers and the fact that even the stand is sold separately. I'm not going to defend them nickel and diming us like that.
I feel like its kind of crazy that since Bungie left Microsoft and then be reacquired by Sony we haven't had anything else from them except Destiny for ten years now.
Man. What I wouldn't give to see them do something akin to the old Halo campaigns.
I really wish Sony would actually deep in their back catalogue and do something with the numerous dead IPs they have just sitting around.
Resistance, Infamous, Socom, Twisted Metal, Killzone, Syphon Filter. People lambast Nintendo for not putting out a new F- Zero or whichever, but at least they haven't abandoned nearly all of their older IPs.
And getting rid of Japan Studios was such an L move. They may've not sold the best, and they didn't always have bangers on their hands, but they they always were a part of the weird and quirky part of PlayStation that is lacking now. (E.g: Jumping Flash, Ape Escape, LocoRoco, Soul Sacrifice, Puppeteer)
I think it is very telling how excited so many people were at the State Of Play about Astro Bot and no one cared about Concord.
I can't believe they're doing this game for a third time instead of the many other LEGO games not available on these generation of consoles such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the LEGO Indiana Jones series.
After they abandoned the Vita in the fashion as they did I don't know if I really want a dedicated handheld like that again unless I am sure that they are going to really try with it.
@Frmknst Overly negative reception to aspects like character design, general lack of interest and attempting to thrive in a market that's already crowded as is.
I feel like this is to the surprise of essentially nobody? The writing wasn't even on the wall with this game; it was written in big bold letters across a gigantic flag.
I don't even know how you successfully break into a market like this with the competition being so fierce. It always struck me as odd that Sony would go so hard into the live service area with so many games.
Many of which are bound to fail, or be canceled most likely.
Will it be good, like an out of nowhere success like Helldivers 2 Dunno. Maybe?
For me though, it just isn't the type of game I am interested in; but I am sure it will gain some community by it being a Sony product. Call me an old head, or what have you but I'm mainly a single player game guy these days.
Lol. Just why, no I mean really now, a remake of a PS4 game?
It is not even like they added a boatload of content or something. I really don't see why the price is what it is. Its not like the PS4 ver. looks offensively bad or something.

Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?
I didn't buy the PS4 Pro and just went straight to the PS5 from base PS4 and I'm probably going to do the same thing with the PS5 Pro here.
Re: The Last of Us Part 1 and 2 Will Both Look and Perform Better than Ever on PS5 Pro
Really milking these two games. Naughty Dog hasn't even released a new game this generation, its so sad.
Re: How to Pre-Order PS5's 30th Anniversary Collection
About as fat of a disaster as I expected. I'm sure scalpers are very happy.
Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 Wins Over PlayStation Fans

Re: Lunar Remastered Collection Revives Two Classic 90s JRPGs on PS5, PS4 in Spring 2025
@PuppetMaster I do not believe it has had a physical re-release, like many Saturn games so it would be nice.

@Ralizah Many of those games have never been re-released physically so it would be something else. Rayearth being one of them, more people need to experience that game.
Re: Lunar Remastered Collection Revives Two Classic 90s JRPGs on PS5, PS4 in Spring 2025
Lunar is awesome, but man what I wouldn't give to get some of those other lesser known games from that time.
Vay, Popful Mail, Magic Knight Rayearth, Vanguard Bandits. I would die.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for September 2024?
It was alright. Which is probably how most of the State Of Plays goes these days.
I got really excited when they said they were revealing new titles that would utilize the PS5 Pro and it was just Ghosts of Yotei.
Re: Rumour: Concord Cost $400 Million, Sony Believed It Was the 'Future of PlayStation'
I simply don't believe this trash cost that much.

Re: Mini Review: Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis (PS5) - Expensive Expansion Is a Flawed Affair
Not sure what was expected. People didn't like The Answer back then and people aren't going to like it now either.
Re: Stone-Cold PS Vita Classic Returns in Freedom Wars Remastered PS5, PS4
Will it have a physical? Need to know that. Surely it will.

Kind of sad how PSVR2 has just been Vitaed by Sony.

How laughable. Just simply depressing.

Re: Where to Buy Astro Bot and Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller
Seems like it'll be another one of those hard to get controllers. Out of stock nearly everywhere.
Re: PS5, PC Disaster Concord Is Now Officially Offline Indefinitely
I only feel bad for many of the devs. I can't imagine spending years and years creating something for it flop.
That's time you are never getting back.
Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time
Talk about dancing all over Concord's grave.
Maybe it'll make Sony realize that not every game from them needs to be a 70 trillion dollar budget game. Obvious hyperbole, but you know what I mean.

Re: PS5, PC Shooter Concord Dead on Arrival, Is Being Taken Offline This Week as Dev 'Explores Options'
Wow, that's. . I've seen live service games die before, but this is unprecedented. What a disaster.

I can't believe they're doing this game for a third time instead of the many other LEGO games not available on these generation of consoles such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the LEGO Indiana Jones series.
Re: Upcoming PS5 Games for September and October 2024
I almost forgot that Rain Code was coming out on other consoles. It should look quite a bit better than the Switch original.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Harry Potter Game?
The GBC games are very competent RPGs that I never hear anyone talk about. Those were my childhood.

There really was no way this game was succeeding.

I just do not get it.
Re: Random: Divisive Dark Souls 2 Is Seeing a Resurgence and Some Revisionist History
It felt perfectly average in most aspects. Its fine, that's about it.
Re: Poll: Have You Pre-Ordered an Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Controller?
Its one of the few controllers I bought for my PS5 that wasn't the standard one. Amazon had some before they sold out.
Re: Suicide Squad the Villain Behind Warner Bros Gaming Revenue Drop
Its insane we went from the Arkham Trilogy to this. What a downgrade. I understand the co-founders left, but its still sad to see.
Re: The Order: 1886 Dev Ready at Dawn to Close After VR Stint
They were a solid company, it kind of sucks that people only lambast them for the Order 1866 when they were so much more than that.
Those PSP games were genuinely something else. Daxter and the God of War games.
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Studio Really Will Try and Port the Game to PS4
I can't imagine the experience even being worth the hassle? Game ran like trash on PC and wasn't much better on PS5.
Now we're porting current gen games to last gen? Come on, what are we doing.
Re: Sony Subsidiary Aniplex Ignores PS5 for Fate/Stay Night Remastered
Its especially weird because the other two VNs are on PlayStation. Holy Night and Tsukihime.
Re: Poll: Is the Astro Bot PS5 Controller the Best DualSense Yet?
I'm not normally one to go crazy about controllers so I haven't kept up with many of them, but this one did catch my eye.
It'll probably be one of the first special edition controllers I buy for my PS5.
Re: Killzone: Liberation (PSP) - Top-Down Shooter's a Bit of a Slog
Killzone Mercenaries on Vita I actually think is solid little game.
