Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

ShonenJump121

I feel like we get more remasters and remakes compared to new games these days, not helped by the fact that they are often of PS4 games.

You don't see people complaining about Freedom Wars being remastered, because that game was stuck to a console that sold poorly just like the Wii U. I doubt most people have even played that game.

But people are buying these, given The Last Of Us Part I sold super well so I guess its free money.

ShonenJump121

If its not reviews someone is going to, its listening to someone else's opinion whether it be on YouTube or on forums. Their opinion may not align with yours on the same game, 90% of the time the only to know if you'll like something or not is trying it out.

However, its not like the average person or even most people have either the time or money to try every game that comes their way. This is why renting games was important and to an extent demos.

Just use whatever you want, in the end there's preemptive way of knowing you'll like something even of dedicated franchises. Someone might love Monster Hunter World and then think Monster Hunter Rise is just okay.

@Sherlock- You know what I mean their audience is not the same. The same people who buy CoD and Fifa every year are not buying a Switch.

Games selling better on Switch is because the user base is that much larger for one and they've carved out something unique that you can't get anywhere else with a console with the whole handheld hybrid thing. They have their own market and always have. Same way the Wii outsold everyone else while people were arguing between the 360 and PS3.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

ShonenJump121

If I didn't already own a PS5 and it came with the disc drive and stand and was cheaper. It would need all of those things to even be considered.

From that outlook is the only way I could see myself being tempted. I believe the PS4 to the PS4 Pro was a much larger gap and was more substantial. This generation needs more games though. It is really as simple as that.

@get2sammyb Well, Nintendo does their own thing. Nintendo is their own sort of bubble, they have a long history and very dedicated fans. Xbox/PlayStation consoles are usually way more closer to one another comparatively to a Nintendo console. See the PS3/360 vs the Wii and the PS4/Xbox One vs the Wii U.

If you want the fancier resolutions, framerate and all that.
Your options are between PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

The allure of a console is the cheaper price and the pick up and play aspect to it. Surely, consoles can't keep becoming more and more expensive right? Excluding Nintendo, since their consoles are usually cheaper due to not going in as hard on the hardware.

Microsoft wouldn't be seen as lesser if they actually seemed like they were trying.

The whole situation with Redfall, the worsening of the Halo IP and the shuttering of Tango Gameworks after saying they really needed games like Hi-Fi Rush.

I mean what are they actually doing? Tango is owned by Krafton now, but that's still not a good look on Xbox's part. Feels like Xbox has been floundering around since the Xbox one release nearly a decade ago now. Their showcase was promising, but I sure hope that many of those games turn out excellent so it kicks Sony into high gear again because we have seen what happens when Sony gets arrogant and cocky.

Whether you like Xbox or not, competition is always good and does nothing but benefit us, the consumer.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

ShonenJump121

I can buy a PS5 which comes with the stand and the disc drive for $499.99. This is $200 more and it comes with neither the stand nor the disc drive, which will drive up the price even more. It doesn't help that consoles this generation haven't had any price drops, whatsoever.

And for what? Not like the games supported will be massively different compared to the base model. If this is how much the Pro costs, I can't imagine the PS6 being that far away from it in price and I don't think I'll be able to justify the price of a PS6 at that point.

And at that point, might as well buy a PC. You can do much more with that than a console, if you're going to spend a ton of money anyway.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

ShonenJump121

I hope it fails; Sony needs to get checked. This generation has been middling compared to previous ones.

Between this and upping the costs of controllers and the fact that even the stand is sold separately. I'm not going to defend them nickel and diming us like that.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Needs to Take a Long, Hard Look at Itself

ShonenJump121

I really wish Sony would actually deep in their back catalogue and do something with the numerous dead IPs they have just sitting around.

Resistance, Infamous, Socom, Twisted Metal, Killzone, Syphon Filter. People lambast Nintendo for not putting out a new F- Zero or whichever, but at least they haven't abandoned nearly all of their older IPs.

And getting rid of Japan Studios was such an L move. They may've not sold the best, and they didn't always have bangers on their hands, but they they always were a part of the weird and quirky part of PlayStation that is lacking now. (E.g: Jumping Flash, Ape Escape, LocoRoco, Soul Sacrifice, Puppeteer)

I think it is very telling how excited so many people were at the State Of Play about Astro Bot and no one cared about Concord.

Re: PS5, PC FPS Concord's Poor Player Numbers Have Predictably Gone Viral

ShonenJump121

I feel like this is to the surprise of essentially nobody? The writing wasn't even on the wall with this game; it was written in big bold letters across a gigantic flag.

I don't even know how you successfully break into a market like this with the competition being so fierce. It always struck me as odd that Sony would go so hard into the live service area with so many games.

Many of which are bound to fail, or be canceled most likely.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Concord PS5, PC Review?

ShonenJump121

Will it be good, like an out of nowhere success like Helldivers 2 Dunno. Maybe?

For me though, it just isn't the type of game I am interested in; but I am sure it will gain some community by it being a Sony product. Call me an old head, or what have you but I'm mainly a single player game guy these days.

Re: Until Dawn PS5 Is Priced at $60 / £60

ShonenJump121

Lol. Just why, no I mean really now, a remake of a PS4 game?

It is not even like they added a boatload of content or something. I really don't see why the price is what it is. Its not like the PS4 ver. looks offensively bad or something.

I just do not get it.
