@Northern_munkey Agree, there are a lot to play anyway. Yes, deducting points from score may be a bit too harsh, at least a minus point in the conclusion. If reviewers don't say anything, who's gonna do it? Nobody with a major audience anyway, apart from some Tweeter nuts. 😄
@MikeOrator you realize this is the first AAA game with no phsyical release right? Nobody is expecting an indie game to get a physical version, that's just a bonus. They knew what they were doing. They knew fomo will push even some die hard physical fans to buy it digitally.
No minus points for lack of physical edition is bad decision. You're letting them win, just because it's a good game.
If this was a review for the PC version, I'd get it.
At least stop acting like you care for physical media, in some other articles of yours.
Do these Netflix games even run natively on tvs/phones or are streamed? I have a hard time believing they could optimise AAA games to run on every mobile device out there or even worse, on TVs which have SOCs weaker than the weakest smartphone out there.
You guys have to put a negative spin on everything. I see it as a good thing because now the ratio of disc vs discless will be even more in favor of disc version, which means Sony are still happy to keep physical media alive, unlike MS.
The logic is clear. They are pushing people to outright buy the disc drive edition from the start, which is a good think, because it looks like Sony still wants to support physical media, at least until the PS6 comes out.
It's an easy sell for shops and showroom assistants also. They'll direct you towards the better deal.
No wonder they didn't want to release a physical version here. As for Square Enix, where are the Playstation versions of Triangle Strategy, Harvestella, Dragon Quest Monsters/Treasures?
I believe this is not a coincidence to be announced right after the aleged hack. The hack is probably real and they want to get ahead of the inevitable leaks.
@Mad001 Playing PS1/PS2/PS3 discs on the PS5 is like a wet dream for every PlayStation collector out there, but unfortunately, from what I know, PS5 drives don't read CDs and DVDs, so may keep that hope up for the PS6, if that will even launch with a drive at all. 😄
PS3 games, though, that is a big possibility, but only if they figure out emulation on PS5 and don't have issues with 3rd party publishers because of it.
Would imagine most of these sales are on PC.
This game hasn't seen a decent price drop since release, as others have already said, and the physical copies are hard to come by anyway.
Great to see that NISA is bringing these old Nintendo games to Playstation, unlike Bandai Namco with Baten Kaitos and ATLUS with Etrian Odyssey, which skipped PS4/5 entirely
Looks good, but horrible choice for the D Pad. The replacement one looks the same, just raised.
That's a deal breaker for me.
Who thinks circle D Pads are a good thing anyway?
@Rmg0731 I'd suggest not buying any game on PS5 at launch if it's released on GamePass Day 1. I usually pick em second hand or when below 20€.
Not many of them have been must plays so far, apart from maybe Plague Tale Requiem.
Wo Long was a cheap knock off Nioh, Lies of P is a cheap knock off Bloodborne, and this Yakuza Gaiden is probably one of the lowest budget games in the series yet. They're not even bothering with a physical release for it. That's gotta say something.
Waiting for a deep sale or a second hand copy for the PS5 physical version, like for all games launching Day 1 on Gamepass. They already got paid, and it's not a must play.
@RunGMhx For me it's not the generation to forget. There are some amazing games. This is the side effect of similar architecture and backwards compatibility. What you gain with back compat, you lose in exclusivity, but I don't mind it. I'm happy even if I play PS4 games with better framerate, resolution and improved load times on my PS5. Also, there are tons of PS5/Series X only games, if you care to look beyond the more popular games.
@PaperAlien Games take 6 years to develop, that's what's going on. Considering most first party studios released something in the last 3 years, it's gonna take a while before we see something new from them.
Sony could have had some games between big hitters if they hadn't closed Japan Studio, like the idiots they are.
@Shadcai For Ni No Kuni, probably Bandai Namco has to step up and bring some cash to the table. Those were AAA RPGs. These 2 games, Decapolice and Inazuma, seem made on a budget.
@Cherip-the-Ripper What? They didn't even make a PS5 version of Psychonauts 2. If you are not informed, they only brought the game to PS4 because that version was already crowdfunded. MS doing good for the industry, just look at the Starfield physical version, try installing it offline. Hint, you can't.
@Shigurui Pretty sure Sony doesn't have Starfield timed exclusivity money. Stop trusting any idiot on tweeter. Actually I'm sure Deathloop and Ghostwire wouldn't even have been made without Sony involvement.
@PSme Whatever hate people may have for Sony, their way of operating is different. They saw that Stellar Blade and Lost Souls Aside are having development issues and offered publishing exclusivity in exchange of helping them finish the games. That is how you do it.
MS has the western RPG market cornered and their monopoly making practices will continue.
Weird nobody is talking this was forcefuly taken of the multiplatform market. The industry is OK with MS acquiring everything and making it exclusive now.
@Bionic-Spencer HDR should look more vibrant than SDR, it has much more color depth. It must be something on your TV settings. Try deactivating contrast enhancer if you have a Samsung TV.
@Sam_ATLUS Unless you live in the UK you'll never see a discount on the physical version. All their games released in the last couple of years are either still full price or even more.
@UltimateOtaku91 Spider-Man 2 won't exceed 90 on Metacritic. Which Insomniac game has ever managed that? I think none. They make good games, but never GOTY material.
@Gryzor I Would imagine that's because of the insane output of the last few years. How many games did they localize? Probably 15 to 20. They're rushing them, and still have a big backlog
@Pat_trick Not even that imho. These are niche games. Of all the recent PS5 re-releases NISA did, probably the YS games are the only ones wich are better known. Anyway, I'm glad they re-released YS 8 & 9, Caligula Effect 1 & 2, and now seemingly Trails of Cold Stell 3 & 4 for the PS5.
@meistergeister Actually not, Death's Door, Tunic and The Ascent are amazing. They were released as Xbox exclusives. Funny thing is they only have physical versions on PS and Switch, with The Ascent having only PS physical. 😄
This has a great price point. Will get a physical copy in the future when all these releases die down. Just ordered a PS5 copy of Blasphemous 2, which was way higher on my prio list. 😄

Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Kraven It was just an example, and new games hold up to 80% value if resold in the first 1-2 months, not to mention Nintendo games, which are gold.
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Kraven Can you get anything back from your digital library if you lose your job and need money? No, you're stuck with it.

@dschons Some people will get the remark, just not you.

@Logonogo enjoy your all digital future then, cause this is the starting point, the success of this game, with no physical.

Re: Netflix Aims to Be PlayStation's Next Big Rival, And It Wants Grand Theft Auto
@Kevw2006 Is any of those games a AAA made in the curent decade or just indie games? Indies I could see working.

10 days? You can complete the game 5 times in that interval.
