I agree, screw this type of censorship. Let the game be as it was first released. If people could handle that kind of stuff then, why not now? Or at least, leave the political satire and mental issues intact.
@Titntin Believe me, I wish PS and Xbox could stick around, but I'm not optimistic they'll be here in 10 years, as physical consoles anyway. As publishers, that's another thing, they'll keep pumping games, no matter the platform.
Will be curious if they still do Nintendo exclusives, which I have a feeling they will. They'll look like hypocrites then, but at least they'll be happy because of good sales.
Doesn't matter. Once Nintendo Switch 2 launches and it proves capable of running top end AAA games, PlayStation is dead just as Xbox. Problem is Sony can't afford to keep a Zombi console around, as oposed to Microsoft.
@CutchuSlow Not on this site, it's PlayStation centric outlet and it's got its following because of that. You PC nerds want to monopolise everything right?
@RamboMike There is a point system also. Each game has around 1300 points of trophies. You can check out on psnprofiles website, but people mainly hunt trophies for the platinums.
@MrHabushi You'd say that, but there are very many people addicted to the Trophy system. People even choose PS over Xbox for the trophy system alone, even if that seems stupid at first glance.
Probably when on sale, but I never buy games Day 1 anyway. I enjoyed FF Origins Stranger of Paradise, so I will probably love this. The only thing that bums me is the lack of suppernatural enemies. Only human enemies could get borring in a 60 hour game, just like Ghost of Tsushima.
@nomither6 There are a lot of fans who would rather Sony focus on making new games instead of working on PC ports. I know they have Nixxes working on a lot of them but studios like Naughty Dog still do these internally. Probably Insomniac also.
@NotSoCryptic Sad to say, but very true, and many people don't want to admit it. Selling out for pennies on PC and alienating PS fans. Apart from Helldivers, none of their games sold big on PC, but the brand is already damaged.
There is a solution, though, they should make their own store on PC to compete with Steam, with trophies, save sync, and cross-buy with Playstation consoles. These features would make people favor its store, instead on Steam.
Sucks that the physical is by Limited Run, but it's nice to see that many formerly Nintendo exclusives are gettin PlayStation releases all of a sudden, like Monster Hunter Stories, Grandia, SMT 5. Only Square Enix is stubborn and keeps 2 new Dragon Quest games, Harvestella and Triangle Strategy locked there.
People still buy Xboxes even if their games are releasing Day 1 on PC. There will always be a market for consoles, for no hassle gaming. Just hope we're not left with only Nintendo in this space, and keep having at least Sony too as a console maker.
What do you prefer? Close down studios for not delivering games or make them work harder and faster for less money, but have results. The latter is why there are abundant japanese games releasing this year, and no western games.
@ChrisDeku Yea, but remember around 2020 when everybody started hating and revealing crunch culture on western games. It made western publishers stop the practice, but look where we are now, 6-7 years to make a game. Wth?
It's the media that stopped crunch, but you can indirectly blame them for the drought of AAA Sony releases we have now.
With Totori at the realm of Sony, things will probably go back to what they were, now that we live in a cut costs anyway possible world.
As others stated, giving it D1 on Gamepass does imply they aren't expecting big sales, similar to Wo Long, but then again we know GP isn't growing sub numbers that much, so not bringing decent games like this would surely mean a steady decline in subs.
@zhoont yea, who's gonna make games without any people? It's a paradox.
It's weird they're doing this in an era where people are buying more games than ever before.
I just don't want Playstation to go the way of Valve with Steam to just be a platform for selling other publisher's games. They need their own games and closing studios is not a solution. Who's gonna make the games if they close all or most of the studios?
Just let studios like London Studio and Japan Studio put something smaller scale out, instead of closing them.
They are greedy idiots. They SHOULD sell the console at a loss to make the money back from selling games, even 3rd party games make them a lot of money. People very much want to buy a PS5, but not at 550€.
@Max_the_German Yea, but would you want a wattered down Spider-Man with AA budget?
Nobody would buy it. At this point everybody expects flashy top shelf AAA experiences from Sony, as others have stated.
@ear_wig The reviews are good, check out metacritic average. This Push Square score is among the lowest. It's 83 on PC and 77 on PS5, if scores matter to anybody.
I for one already preordered a physical copy.
@somnambulance Yea, FF7 alone should last at least 2 months for a normal person with a job, with the amount of content shown.
I personally only buy physical because I can recoup some money in case I need it.
I foolishly started a Nintendo Switch collection last year (because youtubers), but I realised I hate playing on it and started selling them. I got back almost the same amount I payed for the games.
@somnambulance I already preordered Ultros and FF 7 physical versions. Banishers is also tempting. Have a feeling it's gonna be a very good RPG, ignored by most people, because there are too many games coming out, also AAA price.
Probably mostly sold on PC.
I don't know why people like to play on PC so much. To me it feels like such a hassle, and this is coming from someone who started gaming on a PC in the 90s, though for much of my childhood only pirated cracked games.
Physical version is already preordered for the bonus steelbook. Hope the store doesn't screw me over like they did with FF XVI and not deliver the steelbook.
@Ken_Kaniff, does the game have SIE or PS Studios on the box? Then that game IS NOT 3rd party. Sony will publish at least 4 games this year, if not more.
Games like Until Dawn, Death Stranding, Nioh, Detroit Become Human can be considered Sony games, even if not made by a Subsidiary.
It's always been like this, even in the PS1 era. It's just that people are jumping on some hate train.
Fk Social Media, it may be good in some aspects, but it also promotes the spreading of missinformation and hate.
@Voltan, Yea it's surprising considering half the Xboxes in people's houses are digital only Series S machines.
But I guess Xbox owners have a lot more disposable cash to buy new AAA stuff because they are handed a lot of free games on Gamepass.
To this day I haven't started Dragon's Dogma 1 because it's still locked at 30 fps even when played on PS5. Will probably skip this also if it's just 30 fps. I just can't play Action RPGs in cinematic mode anymore. 60 fps is a must, no matter the compromise, for Action games.
@Marquez I'd say it's worth it more than anything else because you can eventually make your own games or apps and become independent. I bet 1/4 of the indie games that release on Steam are one man projects.
If the upcoming Like a Dragon, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy 7 Rebith don't top the chart list in Japan on PS5, I don't know what can.
Playstation 1st party games were never very good sellers, there is no point in people going for that angle. It's not that Playstation is weak in Japan, its real problem is how dominant the Switch is, and they can't do anything about that.
@Slayer25c Well, it does have a Monster Hunter style post game, which you can play with 3 other people or solo with AI companions from what I understand.
Sound good but will wait to see if it will be packed with presumed to launch PS5 Pro. About stick drift, never had any on my 2 DS4 and 2 Dual Sense controllers with thousands of hours played. My DS3, though, that had nasty stick drift.
I can't argue with that. I just bought a physical copy of Steelrising (funilly enough a Nacon game) for 15€. One of the perks of too many games, retailers discount them faster and harder.
