Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 491

Games have advanced so much every game is good these days so I'm playing any and everything; AC Valhalla, Elden Ring, MHW Iceborne, HFW, Bloodborne...I wonder how some of you do it when you keep buying a lot of games.

@wiiware haha even after all that you haven't seen anything yet, that's like 20% of the whole game, or less. On my 2nd run and still finding new things I missed right under my nose, when I thought I searched every nook and cranny after 330hrs on my first playthrough.

So on my 1st run of Sekiro, 2nd run of Elden Ring, 4th run of Bloodborne, I still believe Elden Ring tops them all, it's simply the best From Software game period. Still more Monster Hunter World Iceborne, another game you just can't stop, funny how I found it hard getting into the game in the past and now I love it so much.

@wiiware it's easily understandable why you love Elden Ring but can't get into the others. Yeah again, it's the freedom and open world. I feel if FromSoft maintains that, their open worlds would always be sitting at 96-97 on MC like the GTAs, RDRs and Zeldas.

@TBubs311
"At the end I couldn’t bother with the side quests because it felt detracting from the experience. And I’m one who usually avoids finishing a game so I can do all the side stuff."

That right there is the problem of most open world games. There's always this pressure to save someone or thing, and then branching out to do side quests makes it feel a bit odd. Geralt needs to save Ciri but hey he's playing Gwent and hunting little monsters for some measly coin. V is dying but he's doing side missions for Delamain the taxi AI. Aloy is ALWAYS IN A HURRY to save the world like all her friends tell her. Yet it's the side stuff that helps you level up and gain items. And this where FromSoftware's games shine, there's absolutely no pressure.

Just put everything on hold and playing my 2nd playthrough of the magnificent Horizon Forbidden West. God the graphics, the details on those machines still amazes you like it's the first time no matter how many playthroughs. Kojima had to admit like "damn I need that engine." Then it's probably some AC Valhalla, BB, Sekiro, ER.

Grinding in Sekiro right now and this is why Elden Ring is FromSoftware's best game. With BB, Sekiro etc you have a couple of places to go grind, in ER is a vast world you can go anywhere, find new places, new things all the while grinding. So it's those 3 for the weekend, the lovely AC Valhalla plus I might start HFW 2nd playthrough proper, the graphics is on another level, games like those makes it hard to leave PS. Aaand some GoT Iki Island probably.

Sekiro. Beat Genechiro, beat Armored guy, almost felt impossible in the usual From style but there's always a way. Finding items I missed from 2016 in Bloodborne. Just chilling in Elden Ring, finding hard to get to items. Having fun in the world of AC Valhalla. I really wish to start HFW second run but I want to give it all my attention so I dunno.

Re: Bloodborne PS5 Running at 60fps a Welcome Sight for Old Hunters

Still fine as is. I'm more intrigued about how FromSoft cleverly hides things right under your nose. Can't find a way to get to a shiny pickup in Old Yharnam all these years, and another one on the roof of Raya Lucaria in ER, but finding other new stuff though. That's the beauty.

@AhmadSumadi @nyXhc420 You just gotta LEVEL UP, it gets easy. Don't let FromSoft's masterpieces pass you by all because you never bothered to level up.

Re: Microsoft's Potential Game Plan in 2020: 'Spend Sony Out of Business'

TheArt

That email is 2019, he thought spending Sony out of business was going to be straightforward and clearly it hasn't been, they've hit a road block with this Activision deal. They might just not bother going forward, I mean Bing should've spent Google out of business, it didn't happen, your work and talents talks for you and PS Studios aren't short of those talents.

Re: Xbox Insinuates It Bought Bethesda to Block Starfield PS5 Console Exclusivity

@UltimateOtaku91 I know the other games don't sell that much but ES/Fallout can be as big if they aren't even already as GTA/RDR. It's just disappointing Bethesda had to sell, I doubt TakeTwo would make themselves available for purchase by either Sony or MS, if anything it'd be some independent group. Shame on Bethesda, if they needed a bailout it shouldn't have been from a console rival. Still, Sony's to blame too, for all that needless aggressive timed-exclusivity BS.

Getting the hang of Sekiro, FromSoft just does a great job of making you feel it's impossible at the beginning of their games, but later, you realize oh it's possible. But damn still, it's hard. Still satisfying Eivor's wanderlust in a Wanderlust themed ship in the beautiful and fantastic AC Valhalla. Then it'd be a bit of ER, BB and whatever else.
