Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 464

Ghost of Tsushima started out slow for me but after getting to ACT 2, I can't stop playing. Still on AC Valhalla too which is brilliant but my gripe with these games is why can't they just have a perfect navigation guide like Rockstar's or Horizon...hate it when you end up at dead ends and constantly have to bring up the map. That's why Elden Ring is just something else, it has no guides yet the map is easy to navigate, speaking of which, still can't stop admiring ER's art but that's for all FromSoft games. Will be gallivanting in the Eternal City, Nokron.

Re: Big Discounts for PS Plus Members in New PS Store Sale

TheArt

@mcdreamer I was bored in the beginning but I really like it now after getting to ACT 2 and realizing there's a whole variety in the environments. The whole no sleep in open worlds break immersion for me but I'll just disregard that and appreciate its brilliant combat and fantastic art direction.

@Blacksmith1985 True, it's the same price I got GoT in the January Sale without Plus.

Re: Work Is Underway on the Next Gran Turismo Game

TheArt

The just race race race thing isn't enough. If they wanna shake things up and beat the Horizons, NFS, and the upcoming The Crew, maybe they should take notes from GTAO. Imagine GTA's world with GT cars but without the guns...Where you can just take your sweet ride for a spin, see other online players ride around or meet up in clubs, maybe manage a business with AI or friends, stunting events, make some actual damage to cars, it's not all about courses upon courses upon courses.

Re: French Trade Union Calls on Ubisoft Paris Workers to Strike Following CEO's Comments

TheArt

@TheCollector316 I liked Far Cry than AC but after the trilogy Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, I feel I prefer AC now. Though I had a hard time liking Odyssey maybe because RDR2 was also fresh at the time. If you play these AC games with an open mind and not with the "let's hate on Ubisoft" mindset, you'll find they're pretty good. Although Ubisoft should blame themselves for releasing too many games with similar frameworks creating that narrative about them.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 459

TheArt

Still AC Valhalla, Origins and GoT. I like the art direction in GoT, no wonder it won that category in 2020. Valhalla is the most immersive simply because you have a place to call home to sleep and friends like family. I just don't get open worlds where the player roams around forever, no rest mechanic to fast forward time etc, don't they ever learn from Rockstar. I'm glad HFW added that, albeit is just Aloy sitting and advancing time tsk sigh.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 458

TheArt

The Sale ambushed my wallet now I'm overwhelmed with huge games I wonder if I'll have much time for, still, not gonna rush them. I got AC Valhalla which I'm highly impressed by. About to start Ghost of Tsushima. Playing AC Origins too, also excellent. Now I feel like I'm an AC guy after FarCry just got too nonsense for my liking especially with FC5. Meanwhile I've kinda left my Elden Ring second run hanging. I'll have to pop in and make slow progress.

Re: Elden Ring Dominates God of War Ragnarok in GOTY Awards, Breaks The Last of Us 2's Record

TheArt

It's deserving of all the awards but lemme just say game critics going forward should be more forgiving of map markers. I'm blown away by AC Valhalla right now and it does a lot to hide stuff though there's still some feint markers. Always hated how your eagle in Odyssey points you to a target and Alexios says something like "there he is" like are you the eagle now... Valhalla eliminates all that and makes things more obscure. But then again if these games say they're going to hide all markers, it's gonna be insane and we might bash them for it. So yeah critics would have to make up their minds.

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

TheArt

It was easy predicting the order of @get2sammyb 's top 2. Only problem is the supposed Director of RPG in the office @ShogunRok didn't have Elden Ring in his top 5. Some points could be docked off his RPG credentials.

@Korgon same. I haven't played Ragnarok but somehow I spent more time with HZD than GOW18 and I'm suspecting same might be true with HFW/GOWR but I could be wrong. It was disappointing how PushSquare kept putting GOW18 at #1 on any list, sleeping on HZD. I'm just saying Horizon should be just as respected as God of War.

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Elden Ring

TheArt

@LN78 Lol he's not really a troll, he just likes going all out at the bottom of comments replying to every single human he doesn't agree with, it's laughable sometimes. @dark_knightmare2 tone it down bud. 😉

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Elden Ring

TheArt

@dark_knightmare2 What nonsense. Who said I was in my feelings or cared. I was just stating the obvious on how some people actually thought ER will be #1 on a PS site. ER won GOTY, why should I cry over any site's list. Clearly you read my comment thinking I'm angry, you're always overly dramatic at the bottom of comments.

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Elden Ring

TheArt

I see most of you haven't been on PushSquare long enough to know a highscoring PS Exclusive will always be #1 especially when it's GoW. It was the same story with GoW18 and RDR2 in 2018. I mean it's a PS site, isn't that enough of a hint.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year 2023 Edition

TheArt

AC Valhalla & Origins. First off I don't think anybody who's into immersion should start with Odyssey because it's the worst of the 3 in that regard, and it's quite sad I did. Wasn't in a hurry to check out those 2 cause I was thinking they'd be similar to arcadey Odyssey with its no fall damage, ridiculous running animation, awful horses but boy was I wrong. I realized the more experienced Ubisoft Montreal made those immersive 2 and Quebec did Odyssey, part of the reason I got Valhalla quickly after being impressed by Origins. It's hard to notice repetition in assets in the 2 also compared to Odyssey, there's a city in Origins that looks well organized with roads like RDR2's Saint Denis. In Odyssey a million people are generated all over the repetitive places in close proximity like flies and it's hard to ride your horse without smacking them.

Valhalla is superb, with nice graphics, all new assets, better horses, it takes a lot of notes from RDR2 but of course since it's Ubisoft killing respect for their own games with a gazillion releases a year, people sleep on their talent plus there's the law of diminishing returns. The internet makes it seem Odyssey is the best but I'm really feeling the other 2. Aaaannd I'll probably continue Elden Ring also.

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

TheArt

People who say it's the same dungeons or ruins. Difference is the loot is always UNIQUE and not the same coins, ingots, leather like other open worlds. That alone encourages exploration and makes it rewarding.

@The_Pixel_King I feel the difficulty in FS games is part of the charm. I started NG+ on ER and got bored because I was just mowing down bosses and everyone, I felt overpowered. Quit it and started a proper New Game. Like Miyazaki said, there's a joy in overcoming a challenge.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Open World Game of 2022

TheArt

It's kinda funny and sad at the same time that other open world games are getting marked down for having markers on the map 😆. Like oh so I'm the bad guy for hand holding and giving you all the help. As much as I like Elden Ring's blank slate figure out everything yourself style, I don't think others should be marked down for simply giving you help.

Re: Game of the Year: John's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

TheArt

@middyone I mean it's no secret Horizon borrowed ideas which look typically Ubisoft in its design. It's just the robots, gameplay and graphics makes it stand out.
Elden Ring would've been overrated if it had that same open world structure but it doesn't. It's the sense of mystery and discovery. You're dropped in this world with no objectives, no maps, nothing. You're left to figure out everything by yourself. And then there's this huge golden tree far away you can't seem to ever get near. I mean it's just a feeling that's hard to describe.

Re: Game of the Year: John's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

TheArt

I love GoW but there are times I feel Horizon is a better franchise. Yeah it's your typical AC type game but there's just more fun and satisfaction taking down kangaroo robots than draugr. And yeah we sometimes have to put our opinions aside, "face facts" and acknowledge Elden Ring's greatness.
