@Neonix Your comments confirmed my suspicions that HFW would not be able to offer anything too different from HZD aside from variations. Much as I loved the first game and spent time in the world after completing all the story, side missions etc. I couldn't see HFW taking Aloy anywhere radically different. This got me thinking about the appeal of the Uncharted series in comparison. I wonder if perhaps the role of Dinobots and other carried over elements, like tribes perhaps, becomes a burden to the telling of a story, which Uncharted has the primary focus on. So sure, even if HFW has a different story and expanded environment, perhaps the story is little more than a thread for more of the same from the first game. Any positives the story might bring being diluted and weighed down by the time and attention on dealing with Dinobots
@ShogunRok Yes. Thanks. Luckily I bought it for a couple of quid when it was last heavily discounted on the PS store.
Waiting for the upgrade before I get started on it. The upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 didn't carry over the trophies.
I'm a bit suspicious of yet another positive review. Going on the details in the article itself, it shouldn't get more than a 5 or 6. The only thing giving it a 7 is the structure and word content given to the postive/negative features. Enjoying the game is no reason to downplay the game's failures. I'd find clunky controls infuriating, as I would the FPS issues in co-op.
Looks very good. Having not played Destiny for a good few months now (having more fun with Outriders TBH) I'll be good to try a fresh take on the genre.
If this trend goes on I can see myself getting an old, second-hand dirt cheap phone for a couple of quid and PAYG deal just for this madness. Oh, wait, my phone is dual-sim. That's a relief
I just looked up the spoiler, can't say I was surprised. However that made no difference to my opinions about the game itself. There are no 'new' stories out there, only the way they are told. So no matter the story, if the game tells it well, and plays well, there shouldn't be a problem
@Milt Remakes and remasters are a cheap buck, a lot cheaper and less riskier than developing and marketing a new AAA title. I suspect we'll be seeing more of this laziness from Western Developers and more new titles coming from places where labour is cheaper and working conditions less sympathetic to human needs.
I pre-ordered a 'frontier's' pack that gave me a controller and first dibs at a player name. Then as more news came out about pricing structures, I realized this wasn't going to be the 'gamechanger' (ha!) it promised to be and I cancelled the order. I'm not surprised it failed. Seemed inevitable, especially how they were ripping off developers.
@Danloaded I don't think it had anything to do with release timing. It was a bona-fide crap game that successfully failed on its own merits. I still wonder what the hell were the developers/game designers thinking.
@get2sammyb. Did you get all this from playing the latest iteration or was it supplemented by ND material? What I'm getting at is: With absolute certainty, will any of us who deign to throw money at a game we've already played remember enough of our initial run through, or throughs, to actually notice and say to ourselves, "Damn, this is a totally fresh and new experience worth every one of my hard won pennies"?
Why? Oh right, because it's easier and cheaper than creating LoU 3.
Seems Developers and publishers are sticking to rehashing tried and tested games that have a better bet of big profits than investing in new AAA titles. Why else would Ubi recycle more Assassins Creed rather than put time, energy and resources into BYE2? which was announced 14 fricking years ago!
@Areus I doubt Netflix with its current crisis will be able to afford the CGi and SFX for a live action, It'll be pretty budget if it does go live. Maybe based in some weird, 'safe haven' with barely any mechs. Animated sounds more feasible
This looks like a must-buy for me. the graphic style is seems perfect for the story. It looks like the developers have blended the perfect selection of music, environment and art style for the story.
@Agnostic True. I bought GOTG and Cyberpunk 2077 and all the Uncharted on Disc as they were primarily single players. But Destiny, Outriders and GT7 I bought digital so I could jump in anytime without changing discs. (Though now I wish I went with a GT7 disc so I could get rid of it.)
Wow. The amount of elements and rankings that can be influenced by any number of factors, the choices and possible paths, could be endless. It looks pretty impressive. This got me wondering if there's some kind of algorithm template these kinds of games work off, or whether developers have to build it from scratch.
When I sit down of an evening in front of the TV, I prefer to game rather than passively stare at a screen. I play more than I watch. Usually a couple of hours most evenings. Mostly Outriders recently. I enjoy the co-op. Used to be Destiny until it became too pompous for its own good. I find Outriders to be better balanced all round with more interesting weapon/outfits and mods. I was sceptical about the recent 'worldslayer' DLC but it's worth every penny and minute of investment.
@LiamCroft It's good to have a relatively objective review not founded on whether one is a cat-lover or not, but instead considers the game on its own merits.
What saddens me about all these remakes, (and there are a lot of developers churning them out) is it's a sign that few people are willing to take the risk of giving us something new. It's no surprise that big budget AAAA games like BGE2 are being pushed back. And look at the farce around GTA6. They finally got around to putting resources, time and energy into it but only at the expense of Red Dead online. It's been said before. Greed has taken over from creativity. So many examples of this. FIFA, MW, Assassins Creed, etc.
@LiamCroft It's only an important scene as there's no real motive or story without it. As a spoiler it's not a critical issue. "I was wondering why a man would go on a deadly road trip with a young girl. Wait, what, it's because his daughter dies At The Beginning? Oh, no, this 'leak' has ruined the game for me. " Knowing his daughter dies right at the very is no great shakes at all. In fact, it raises lots of intriguing questions What are they running from? Who are these armed men? What's their connection to whatever it is the man and child is running away from? why do they not care he is carrying an injured child? Why do they shoot him without warning? What are they afraid he might do/have?
@LiamCroft I believe it. In fact, I believe there are more "official unofficial" leaks that you are led to believe. Getting someone to "Leak" gameplay, images or rumours is Free Advertising and Promotion. One well placed leak and there's an avalanche of ever increasing chatter and commentary, on a whole bunch of blogs, feeds and news websites along with more speculation and searches. And bingo, you've just saved well over half, if not all, of your advertising budget. Job done.

Growing up, we always had cats in the family and I myself have had a few cats over the years. I'm not hostile to them. I even take care of friends cats when they go on holiday.

@Titntin Wow, now there's a turn. You're right, no one asked for my opinions, or anyone else's here, unlike I presume the formal and widely supported request for your ranty tirade. Oh, and nowhere did I say people have no reason to get excited about the game. I'm fully aware my views on cats are subjective and see nothing wrong in expressing them as part of explaining why I, as an avid and active gamer, will not be buying this particular game. May I quote M'lud as evidence my earlier comment "Agreed, in all other respects it looks like a great game but the 'cat' is no hook for me." @The_Pixel_King Of course I fully respect the value and personal benefits you get from owning and having a cat live with you, particularly during these difficult times when any comfort is a blessing. I guess the same goes for anyone given the times we are in. It would be immoral and undignified to disrespect any person's healthy, lifestyle choices or practices that improves their quality of life benefits, cats or other. This does not contradict with my equally subjective interpretation that the cat is just expressing concern for it's own source of nourishment and comfort. Of course, this does raise the broader question of is there such a thing as altrusim? Or is the case that everything we do as individuals is geared to our own survival and personal well-being? Personally I think there is such a thing as selfless acts, but only with higher intelligent beings like humans, dogs, pigs, dolphins, elephants, etc.
