Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

tabris95

@dskatter I 100% agree with this. Not only that, but Nintendo allocates it's extra manpower from its studios to NEW games! Grezzo, normally known for remasters, is co developing the new Zelda. Monolith Soft has an entire B team devoted to learning through helping out various 1st party projects such as Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, etc. These situations are not even remotely the same.

Re: Annapurna Interactive Exodus Sees Entire Staff Resign

@OthmaneAD What an insane take. You might not like what you've played but you can't deny their catalog:

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
Hohokum
Stray
Neon White
Solar Ash
The Artful Escape
The Pathless
The Unfinished Swan
Kentucky Route Zero
Sayonara Wild Hearts
Telling Lies
Outer Wilds
Journey
Gone Home
Donut County
Gorogoa
What Remains of Edith Finch

One of the best publishers out there honestly.

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio Gets a Fantastic Story Trailer

tabris95

I feel like this game is 9 parts anime and only 1 part fantasy. When the game is trying to sell you on a character's personality by saying "she relishes in eating unconventional food" it makes me feel like they're just randomly drawing anime tropes out of a hat to assign to their characters rather than writing an actual personality.

Re: FromSoftware Boss Puts Elden Ring Difficulty Discourse to Bed, Once and For All

tabris95

I think the problem that more players are having isn't that these games are difficult, but HOW the developers have chosen to make them difficult. The Souls genre has been going for a while now and every entry the development team has to come up with a fresh way to keep players on their toes so the series doesn't become stale. I think this has lead to some design choices in Elden Ring that some players just don't agree with.

Re: FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki Would Love to Try His Hand at a Traditional JRPG

tabris95

Let's be real here, a Souls style JRPG would be very close to SMT in a lot of ways. Punishing difficulty, dark and oppressive atmosphere, abstract story telling based on differing ideologies and recreating the world where no answer is correct , silent protagonist with fully customizable build options, multiple endings based on your decisions throughout the game. There's a reason I keep recommending SMT to all my Souls loving friends

Re: Sonic Frontiers' Final Horizon DLC Proving to Be Surprisingly Difficult

tabris95

Just finished this. While the ending is a total treat for fans, the gameplay feels even more jank than the base game and begs the question if this was even play tested before release. The difficulty is all over the place, with some of the earlier challenges being far harder than the later challenges. Certain challenges require you to reload your save in order to retry because necessary platforms disappear and don't respawn. The new characters only highlight how much this game and it's camera weren't meant for precision platforming. For those turned off by the difficulty, I'd say just YouTube the final boss fight and ending.

Re: Preview: Armored Core 6 Could Give Newer FromSoftware Fans Whiplash

tabris95

@Diowine Because this series IS very niche. There's been 15 Armored Core games and not one of them has sold over a million units in it's lifetime, with most entries selling between 200,000 to 400,000. The studio itself was very niche until the success of Dark Souls in 2011. These games just kept being made because at the time, they were just barely keeping FromSoftware afloat. For comparisons sake, Dark Souls has since gone on to sell over 33 million copies while the last two Armored Core games, which released in 2012 and 2013, have sold under 1 million COMBINED. That means that just Dark Souls alone has sold more than five times the amount of the entire 15 game Armored Core series.

These games have always only had a small following and the only reason you're seeing so much coverage now is because after the success of Elden Ring and the rest of the Souls series garnering wide appeal, FromSoftware is pushing the hell out of its marketing team to try and make Armored Core 6 stick.

Re: Total Final Fantasy Franchise Sales at 180 Million

tabris95

@LifeGirl I don't really think the comparison to GTA V is meant to be impressive or unimpressive, rather it's just meant to put things into perspective a bit. GTA V is the 2nd best selling videogame of all time and by a wide margin. I see it as a bit of a fluke and I honestly don't think Rockstar could replicate it's success if they tried.

Re: Fate/Samurai Remnant Starts a New PS5, PS4 Grail War on 29th September

tabris95

@Matroska I just had this conversation with my friends! Apparently this was fairly common back then for a creator to tell the story they wanted to tell in their game but include H scenes to ensure it sells. I still remember the old Studio Deen adaptation of Fate//Stay Night trying to skirt around a sex scene by making a giant fever dream dragon appear instead 😂. Wild times.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

tabris95

Combat feels brain dead so far. Small enemies don't fight back to the point where you don't even have to use the dodge. Larger enemies and bosses are damage sponges that only seem to serve the purpose of showcasing the stagger mechanic, which makes the only enemies in the demo who actually fight back...not fight back, so you can continue mindlessly wailing on them in peace. In fact, I'm just gonna say it. Combat is better in Forespoken. So far I'm not sold on this.
