Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (PS5) - The Best Yakuza Game Ever Made

@Pranwell My point of view is the game is it's supposed to be one of the longest games, yet. If you really think you'll feel like playing back through the game fully powered, just wait for a sale. For a long RPG, with probably the same characters, a replay through fully powered seems like a waste of time but I get if people want to do that.

It's arguably the most marketed Yakuza game ever made. I (ashamedly) never knew much about Yakuza games until I heard there was this weird little turn-based RPG game on sale for PS4 called Like a Dragon. Not knowing much about Yakuza but turn-based RPG being my favorite genre, I picked up this little novelty. I've since immersed myself in Yakuza games, including some of the earlier games, both Judgement games, and more recently completing Gaiden and Ishin! (and wow!) RGG has quickly became one of my favorite game studios. I know, I know, you all knew about it already, but I can't believe I slept on these games before now.

@inconspicuoususernam I'm more excited for this than a Call of Duty 29 (or whatever number they are on). I am as perplexed about people getting as excited about those as you are for this. This game is in the genre I play the most. Being excited for something doesn't mean it will be good and, yeah, Ubisoft being atttached makes me a little concerned but guess we'll see. Still excited to see what comes of it.

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?

@mariomaster96 I didn't vote for Octopath Traveler 2 because I played it on Switch and will probably vote for it on the sister site, but definitely a top 5 for me. I actually slept on the game for a while and just started it up after playing Alan Wake 3. I was a little late to the party because I couldn't get past the first couple of hours in the original.

@OldGamer999 I think MS killed and saved themselves (simultaneously) with Game Pass. I have a PS5, a Switch, and a pretty beefy PC with Game Pass. I have zero need for an Xbox. Don't get me wrong, MS is still making money off me but not on an Xbox. I think MS might be the first to bow out of the console competition of the big 3. They don't really need an Xbox, neither do I.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS Portal?

tselliot

@Discol76 I bet a majority of that was scalpers. Which is great for them, artificial scarcity leads to higher demand and they can charge more. The scalpers create the problem they profit of. Not sure a special circle in hell is even a bad enough place for that scum, and a lot of states have laws regarding scalping tickets, but it's almost totally ignored. Needs to be fixed and apply to new retail items as well (within a certain period.) It's almost as bad as racketeering just at an individual level instead of at a company or mafia level. I kind of get you pick one up at the store and then decide to sell it but we're not dealing with that. These are highly sophisticated bots affecting almost every industry. Maybe make that part illegal and akin to strict cybersecurity laws. Okay I'm off my soapbox, I just really hate scalpers.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS Portal?

@Xeno_Aura Yes. This lines up with the way Remote Play has ALWAYS worked. There is no local only option, never has been, that I'm aware of. Granted it's probably just a handshake on internet side but it's required to play, period.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS Portal?

@Titntin I have no interest in this device, as I have two handhelds already, but I hope the scalpers lose their ass in this. So bad, they are begging for food on street corners. No empathy for them whatsoever. Period.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (PS5) - A Familiar But Fantastic Superhero Sequel

@harchibald You're spot on. The story in this, while maybe not exactly new ground in canon for the Spider Man world, beats the pants off most of the drivel these sites give 9s or even 10s. I think games are being judged a lot on potential and less on comparison of other games. On whether that's a right or wrong approach, they could have scored this a 5 and I would have still played it day 1 (and probably blocked this site on my firewall.)

As a slower, relatively older gamer, and somewhat of a completion-ist, games usually take me 3 or 4 times what it takes normal players to play a game but like a book you can't put down, this was that game to me. Literally had trouble putting the controller down, even to sleep. Definitely took a game-cation from work to play this one. Really enjoyed my time with it and only wished it lasted longer. I'm already counting down the years until the inevitable addition to what I assume will be a trilogy, for at least the mainline series.
