Re: More Spicy Helldivers 2 Drama as Freedom's Flame Backlash Boils Over

CielloArc

@anon_pel222
They do, but there are two things that makes this stand out:
1 - Its a Sony product
2 - Its a PvE game, nerfs shouldn't be a thing.

In a PvE game you usually don't need nerfs, you need to buff the other alternatives in order to make them attractive, or better, you tweak the enemies and make them more vulnerable or less vulnerable to certain types of damage.

Re: Phantom Blade Zero Dev Denies 'Nobody Needs Xbox' Quote as Outrage Over PS5 Exclusivity Brews

CielloArc

He isn't completely wrong about that.
Xbox dev support for Asia is basically non-existent, and if you had the luck to get a Series devkit you still have to deal with stupid dev policies MS has, all that to sell less than it would sell on Switch/PS5 and PC.

And when I say stupid policies I really mean it. Things like mandatory parity which demands hardware specific optimisation, mobile compatibility if you wanna use xCloud services, etc. They even killed support for Xbone development which could be used to backport some games or some engines like MT Framework.

Re: Sony Subsidiary Aniplex Ignores PS5 for Fate/Stay Night Remastered

CielloArc

@Bingoboyop Given that we don't even have a PS4 version, I guess it would be a lot more work.
Like, Capcom won't release MvC collection on Xbox because the engine used on that port, MT Framework, isn't compatible with Series S/X. Maybe the same thing is happening right now where the engine used on these ports aren't compatible with PS4/PS5, at least not right now.

We are still getting an influx of Fate games, Fate/Extra Record was just announced and Fate/Samurai Remnant sold within expectations, there's still a chance for a port for this one, either that or a full blown remake.

Re: Video Game Performers to Strike Due to AI Concerns

CielloArc

Hah, as if the industry won't outsource their work if SAG-AFTRA becomes a pain in the butt.

Also, one and a half year without a deal means the companies are telling you to kindly F off and that they'll go through, after all the ones who will judge if AI generated assets is bad or not in the end is the consumer.

Re: Genshin Impact Fan Frustration Boils Over As Backlash Goes Viral

CielloArc

Say, have actual people from Africa and South America who also actually play the game spoke against it? If not then I don't care, its a nothingburger and should be treated as one.

Just like Assassin's Creed Shadow and Netflix Cleopatra, let the people who were actually offended speak and take action agains it.

Re: PS5, PS4's New PS2 Emulator Fails to Pass Tech Test

CielloArc

Given that Sly Cooper is the biggest PS Classic hit so far, surpassing Legend of Dragoon, I guess people care less about pinpoint performance than Digital Foundry does.

But then again, DF does complain if there's a 1~2 FPS fluctuation bellow the 60FPS threshold so...

Re: PlayStation Likely to Go All-Digital By PS7, Analyst Predicts

CielloArc

Yeah, not going to happen.
Unlike Microsoft, both Sony and Nintendo sell in a lot of countries where digital only isn't possible, and it ain't a small number either.

Going full digital would help them to cut costs? Maybe, but they also would lose a lot of customers on those countries, leading to less sales overall.

Re: Silly Speculation Alleges Sony May Have Signed Secret PS5 Exclusivity for Black Myth: Wukong

CielloArc

@themightyant I mean, it is normal to assume XSS is the problem here since it has a notorious memory bandwidth problem that requires a fine tuned memory management. If it wasn't for that it would be similar to XSX and PS5, but that one aspect breaks the box entirely.

Also, if PS4 Pro is anything to go by, development for PS5 Pro and base PS5 will be same thing, you just turn some settings on if you're running on Pro to let the game know it can use more resources now.

Re: Ex-Sony Boss Shawn Layden Explains How to Make Games Faster, Cheaper

CielloArc

I don't know about that, photorealism is more of a sympton than the problem.

The problem itself is that most big companies don't know how to manage a project, which leads to overspending on a project that didn't need a lot of money to begin with, it also lead to scope creep, mismanagement of resources and so on.

Case in point: Capcom and Sega both have been selling well, most of their game have photorealistic elements on them, but also most of their games have a limited scope and they chose a hybrid of stylized and realistic art direction in order to convey a pleasant visual experience. A good example of project management done right, they develop a game around a budget and turn profit at around 1M~2M sales.

On the other hand you have Square, who thinks that blowing their budget on graphics will make people buy their games.

Re: PS5 Packaging No Longer Mentions 8K, Some Fans Accuse Sony of False Advertising

CielloArc

Just a reminder that Sony never promised 8K for games and all the time they talked about the feature it was to promote 8K media playback, which PS5 is capable to handle and so is basically any gpu released after 2018.

The main problem here is that native 8K never took off and the industry found cheaper to use AI upscale on TVs, which renders the feature kinda useless not only on PS5 but on everything that had the 8K seal of approval, which include many Denon, Onkyo, Marantz and other receivers/media players.
