Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (PS5) - A Timeless RPG, and a Gorgeous Nostalgia Trip

FreasurePlanten

@LowDefAl I often prefer to consume content by release order instead of chronological order of the narrative. I've looked around and the same is the case for Dragon Quest fans even in modern times concerning the Eldrick trilogy, so I was wondering what the reviewer thought about it (from their review, it seems that the story additions that the developers promised are not very substantial).

Re: Infinity Nikki and Jessie J Confirm PS5 Release Date in Joyous Musical Trailer

FreasurePlanten

Everything I see about this game looks great! I'm cautiously optimistic, games like Genshin prove that one can have fun, even for long periods of time, in f2p games without spending much if any (as I do) money on them. But the implementation of this monetization method, I think, it's still very hit-or-miss. I seemed to notice some frame drops in the trailer? Maybe they were a stylistic choice, but something that made me wonder.

Whenever there are so many people making a huge fuss over censorship I always think "Gee, I wonder if it's about a strangely sexualized underaged character" and 99% of the time I'm right. If only you guys were as concerned about things like sexual violence towards minors in Japan, or other real life issues instead of seeing less skin in a character resembling a teenager... but that's no fun, right?

Re: Hypnotic PS5 Pro Boot Screen, Background Worth the Upgrade

FreasurePlanten

Putting aside the issue of how many articles there are about the Pro, the biased, hyperbolic way in which you're trying to push the hardware is seriously disgusting. Is Push Square committed at all to presenting information independently from how it might benefit Sony? I'm really starting to doubt it these days.

Re: Stellar Blade a 'Gigantic Leap' on PS5 Pro, PSSR Better Than Native 4K Option

FreasurePlanten

I'm dumbfounded by comments like the one by DF. Maybe unbeknownst to me and everyone I know my eyes are messed up, or maybe I'm just more reserved in my use of language. Sure, the image on the Pro side looks a bit better. But a "gigantic leap"? What? I don't think I would even mostly notice (much less care for) the difference in image quality if I did not see them side by side (not that I think it's enough to care anyway).

Final note to avoid comments asking what I'm doing in this comments section. I kept seeing titles using such superlative adjectives to characterize the PS5 Pro enhancements that I just had to come and see for myself. Could it be that contrary to my first indifferent reaction to the PS5 Pro reveal, I was actually missing out on great improvements. Well, I guess I'm glad that it's not the case

Re: Don't Nod Staff to Strike in Paris, Workers Demand Redundancy Plan Be Abandoned

FreasurePlanten

I hope the workers are able to meet their goals. Don't Nod is a, relatively speaking, small team, so I am more prone to believe they would be in crisis after mismanagement than, say, big companies like Microsoft. Still this industry lays off people like I throw away used napkins, that has to change.

Last thing: the cover image is from the latest Life is Strange game, which I'm pretty sure was not made by Don't Nod. I believe the IP now belongs to Square Enix. You should consider changing it, I think. Might cause confusion.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548

FreasurePlanten

I just finished the Metaphor Re: Fantazio Prologue Demo, clocking in almost 8 hours. What a game. This past week I also got the platinum for Vampire Survivors, and I'm now close to getting 100% completion on that game, I just need to finish some adventures. I've also started The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and aside from the framerate issues, it's being very fun and whimsical. Finally, I'm finishing Secret Agent Clank over on PS5.

Good gaming, everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 539

FreasurePlanten

I'm playing a lot of PlayStation titles, so I'll comment here this week instead of in Nintendo Life as usual.

I'm playing through Daxter, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier and Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PS5. I'm playing through LocoRoco Remastered and Far Cry 3 on the PS4. I've recently finished watching the Fallout series with my partner and we're going through a bit of a fever, so we're both playing Fallout Shelter on the iPad and I've started Fallout 3 on the Deck.

Re: Concord Is Sony's Answer to Overwatch, Launches August, Beta Test in July

FreasurePlanten

The reveal cinematic was incredible. It had such a nice vibe that made it look like Guardians of the Galaxy, which is perhaps the Marvel IP that I like the most. And then... it's the most uninteresting game following on from that. Who needed another hero shooter? To hell with these live service games. As expected, turning out to be completely underwhelming.

Re: The Next Naughty Dog Game Its 'Most Thrilling Yet', Says Neil Druckmann

FreasurePlanten

@AKAslickdaddy40 I agree, I think the story is more mature than a lot of people were ready for. I think there definitely is a correlation between being young and immature, but sadly I see also a lot of older people being so childish that I've lost hope of some people maturing much as they grow up. Having said that, on the inclusivity side of things, I don't think age plays that big of a role. I think we saw similar kind of reactions to some of the more extreme reactions to one of the main characters in the new AC being black instead of Japanese.
