It seems to have a swagger that has been missing since FFX, in my opinion. Every entry since has been at pains to prove how good it is. This one just knows it.
@Cutmastavictory Exactly, in a world where everything is instant, there's no need to spend a fortune on a show presence when you can just chuck a video on youtube and everyone goes crazy. Plus everyone is more aware of the carbon footprint of such events these days. It's outdated in many ways I suppose. I'll still miss it though, or rather, I'll miss what it once was. I wonder if we'll ever see it again, maybe in a different form? It needed to adapt, like you say.
I reckon this is a better month that it first looks. Sackboy is a great game (and a surprisingly tough yet fun platinum), while I remember being interested in Tails of Iron when it was released.
@Northern_munkey I don't actually own it, more's the pity. Don't know if it's even on DVD, but I'd imagine the definitive way to experience it would be a pirate copy from a Benidorm market
@ZoSo Haha, yeah I guess I am. Got vague memories of it being on telly at my grandparents house. Even as an innocent ankle-biter I think I could sense the naffness
"We’ve got a sneaking suspicion a number of you will be descending on a certain Spanish village this weekend" - that's right, I'm going to dig out my El Dorado DVD box set for a binge watch.
When I'm not watching that, I'll be playing Tchia with my youngest, we've been having a lot of fun with it. Finished the story last night, now we're just roaming around seeing what else we can find.
I still absolutely love Ground Zeroes and have very fond memories of it. It's the purest distillation of everything that's good about MGS: fantastic gameplay, clever mechanics and a wide range of ways to approach enemy encounters, with the self-indulgent cut-scenes kept to a minimum.
Mind you, I did only pay a fiver for it, a year after it released. Horses for courses and that.
I don't know, I don't do it often but I find a good collectibles mop-up weirdly relaxing. Stick some music or a podcast on if you get tired of the game's soundtrack and just wander about, no stress. Maybe I'm just odd.
The new Elden Ring playthrough just keeps on giving. I've taken to chucking a massive anchor about, which is absolutely wiping the floor with a lot of the enemies.
Was really hoping to continue my recently-started second playthrough of Elden Ring with a pure strength-based character, but my wife and kids are too busy faffing with some wizard school simulator.
Everyone's looking for the next Fortnite. These games can't be that expensive to make, and the companies would probably argue that if they find it, it'll have been worth ten flops.
I am saddened to hear that the magical cuff banter is questionable at best. I was expecting a higher level of magical cuff banter from a triple-A release.
My eldest is playing Destiny 2, but he accidentally started playing on my account and doesn't want to lose his progress. So I'm apparently playing that.
When I can get a look-in, it's Fallout 76 (more fun than I expected) and The Pedestrian.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for April 2023?
I'm not unhappy - I'll probably give Kena a go. I'm still playing Untitled Goose Game, to be honest, so I'm fine.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 471
Untitled Goose Game and having a honking good time.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Really Is Targeting 2024 Release Date
Knowing Sony at the minute, they'll probably announce this on a bus stop poster in Skegness three days before it's released
Re: Random: This YouTube Account Has Gone Viral for Unsealing Old PlayStation Games
@PegasusActual93 The king didn't die, he just went home. To open all his games

Good to see Michael Jackson still finding work
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for April 2023?
Looking forward to giving Tails of Iron a go, had an eye on it at release but then forgot all about it
Re: Out Today, This PS5, PS4 Hot Wheels Game Requires a Toy Car to Play
@KidBoruto Nice, in that case it looks like fun! My cats would not approve though

Have you guys gone early on the April fools with this one?

Would have been unthinkable twenty, thirty years ago. Times change, but it's still a shame.

@Northern_munkey I've not stopped eating paella since 10am
Re: Random: Pop Star Rina Sawayama Is a PlayStation Fangirl, and Wants a Final Fantasy 9 Remake
John Wick still sounds like a Cockney rhyming slang phrase to me

I'd play Okami in VR with a paintbrush peripheral

Re: Lords of the Fallen Looks Ridiculously Good on PS5
Looks nice, but my problem with the first one was more to do with the gameplay. Still got one eye on this though.

@Haruki_NLI I'll drink to that
Re: Sony Wants You to Sit Up Straight While You're Playing PS5, PS4
I wonder what the game intervention server would make of me playing Elden Ring while lying on the sofa with a Crunchie and a glass of rum and coke?
EDIT: Not at this time of day, I might add. That would call for a completely different type of intervention.

Re: Bus Simulator 21 Will Plot a Stop on PS5 in May, Free Update for PS4 Owners
@get2sammyb I've got to say, I feel genuinely bad that you took the time to reply to what was nothing more than a weak pun
Re: Bus Simulator 21 Will Plot a Stop on PS5 in May, Free Update for PS4 Owners
@get2sammyb haha, I was just referring to how you can buy a seasonal bus pass, although reading it back it wasn't a very obvious (or good) gag
Re: Bus Simulator 21 Will Plot a Stop on PS5 in May, Free Update for PS4 Owners
Gold Edition Upgrade? Surely they should have called it a season pass
Re: Elden Ring DLC Confirmed as Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion Is Announced
I've already begun my new playthrough with this in mind, as I thought this might be coming. I'll be ready when this drops
Re: Horizon Fans Can't Believe How Short Aloy Is in PSVR2
This is the problem, you notice these things more when you play in VR. I'm four hours in and I'm beginning to think they aren't real dinosaurs.

Fallout 76 and Omno, enjoying them both immensely.

I'd love one, but I can't justify spending that unfortunately. You can guarantee something would fall off my car the day after I bought it.
Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's Opening Cutscene Sets the Stage for the Struggle Ahead
I've got a week off booked in May, I'll be playing this then. Just enough time to grow out my samurai beard and man-bun.
Re: Journey to the Savage Planet Coming to PS5 with Employee of the Month Edition

I'll hold them to that when I send my first draft for a slapstick-style remake, starring Norman Wisdom as Pyramid Head.
