@Cutmastavictory Exactly, in a world where everything is instant, there's no need to spend a fortune on a show presence when you can just chuck a video on youtube and everyone goes crazy. Plus everyone is more aware of the carbon footprint of such events these days. It's outdated in many ways I suppose. I'll still miss it though, or rather, I'll miss what it once was. I wonder if we'll ever see it again, maybe in a different form? It needed to adapt, like you say.

@Northern_munkey I don't actually own it, more's the pity. Don't know if it's even on DVD, but I'd imagine the definitive way to experience it would be a pirate copy from a Benidorm market

@ZoSo Haha, yeah I guess I am. Got vague memories of it being on telly at my grandparents house. Even as an innocent ankle-biter I think I could sense the naffness

"We’ve got a sneaking suspicion a number of you will be descending on a certain Spanish village this weekend" - that's right, I'm going to dig out my El Dorado DVD box set for a binge watch.

When I'm not watching that, I'll be playing Tchia with my youngest, we've been having a lot of fun with it. Finished the story last night, now we're just roaming around seeing what else we can find.

I still absolutely love Ground Zeroes and have very fond memories of it. It's the purest distillation of everything that's good about MGS: fantastic gameplay, clever mechanics and a wide range of ways to approach enemy encounters, with the self-indulgent cut-scenes kept to a minimum.

Mind you, I did only pay a fiver for it, a year after it released. Horses for courses and that.

"If creators from around the world who love Silent Hill bring us their pitches, I promise to look through every one of them."

I'll hold them to that when I send my first draft for a slapstick-style remake, starring Norman Wisdom as Pyramid Head.
