I get where you're coming from here and I feel like the response is a bit overly negative to what was intended to be a light-hearted piece.
However... I'd point out that Asobi are showing what live service/updates (whatever you want to call it) can be when done right, yet we all know that this is increasingly rare these days sadly, hence the animosity towards it
In fairness if the episode is well written it should be able to stand on its own. It'd be a funny twist if it ended up being the best episode of the series.
I get that there's an element of losstalgia to it because those treasured franchises are never coming back, but it's clearly a celebration. It's not like Astro is walking about crying and putting flowers down
@riceNpea Yeah I noticed that. I think he meant to say 'literal', unless it's a reference to an upcoming Concord novel, in which case colour me excited.
I wonder if it's too late for them to sneak a cheeky Concord reference into Astro. They could have a bot dressed as one of the characters, floating face down in the water.
I'm sure the game's fine and all that, but where's the hook? You can't just cobble together things that made other games successful without something to make your product stand out. I've seen nothing from Concord that sets it aside from anything else.
@Kidfunkadelic83 "The beardier the better" I believe was the quote.
@IslandLogic This is the beauty of my self-deluded world. It can be whatever you want. I forgot to say, she's also voicing Lady Maria in this Bloodborne sequel.
Yeah I'd be up for that. I did the same with Metro in Russian. The only problem is that sometimes I miss some subtitles when I'm focused on the shooting, during an action-heavy sequence.
Awful. I can't believe they decided to make a game out of the Borderlands films, and don't get me started on the Godfather adaptation. Also, that redesign of Nathan Drake is terrible
@LikelySatan lol cheers. I don't want to dump on it too much because I enjoyed the game first time around, but it has to be said, a lot of the framework is already there. We are seeing an increased amount of games being rereleased with a lick of paint and it's very hard not to be cynical about it.
Apologists talking about the cost of making this are conveniently ignoring the money saved on writing, storyboarding, voice acting, soundtrack etc etc etc. It's all already present.
This generation has seen several odd moves from Sony, and this is one of them.
Cult of the Lamb is enough for me. Got a big backlog on the go so that's fine. I might pay the tenner for the remaining days of Premium before my subscription is up and give Timesplitters a whirl
I'm surprised they didn't put Handsome Jack in it, or Mordecai and his pigeon or whatever. Maybe they were holding them back for a sequel. Good luck with that
Whatever your opinion on it, getting rid of this sort of thing is the only way gaming will be taken seriously. It will only ever be seen as an adolescent pastime by many in the meantime
@Kanji-Tatsumi Well said. In the wake of ever-worsening sequels, it's become common belief that the series relies on crude humour and shouting. It's been forgotten that the first one actually had a bit more about it.
I really don't feel like we need to remaster this and slap a 70 quid price tag on it. The original game still holds up, just patch us in 60fps and happy days, as they say

Should've gone to Specsavers

@PerpetualBoredom I don't understand your comment. Also, I can't help myself
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 545
Astrobot and Cult of the Lamb. What more does a man need?
Re: Which Girlfriend Will You Rent in PS4 Visual Novel?
Okay but I'd rather play a Rentaghost adaptation

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Astro Bot?
Yes, I was off today so I bought it this morning, but I was under orders to wait until my son got home from school before starting it.
Kept myself occupied by getting the secret bots in Astro's Playroom instead. Everyone's a winner.

"Some committed to skipping work, calling in sick"
That'll make for an interesting return to work interview

Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 26
@FanCFeast @Kidfunkadelic83 Ha, even if I had all the answers written down next to me, I still don't think I could do it in that time
Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 26
How are people getting ten out of ten in 21 seconds? It takes me 21 seconds to read the first question
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 544
Bit of Sifu, bit of Cult of the Lamb. Maybe some Dark Souls
Re: Concord PS5, PC Sales Estimates Are Somehow Even Worse Than We Thought

I can't believe @get2sammyb has accidentally outed himself as a Green Ranger hater today

This is actually pretty ace
@roe That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this. It reminded me of your sterling canvassing work in the Push Square tournament

Suikoden you say? Sounds interesting

Re: A New Day, a New Bloodborne PS5 Rumour
I heard Scarlett Johanssen is looking for a new husband, preferably English with a low-to-mid level income and greying hair.
Every day is bliss in my world of unsubstantiated rumour and self-delusion.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 543
I've been sacrificing my followers, re-educating dissenters and going on dangerous crusades.
In between all that I've been playing Cult of the Lamb. Ho ho ho.

Re: Explore an Apocalyptic Britain in Atomfall on PS5, PS4 Early Next Year
They should've called it Fallowt

Awful. I can't believe they decided to make a game out of the Borderlands films, and don't get me started on the Godfather adaptation. Also, that redesign of Nathan Drake is terrible
Re: Borderlands 4 Announced, Coming to PS5 in 2025
I'm not hopeful. It'll be interesting to see if lessons were learned from the mixed reception that the third game got.
At least the movie's reception wasn't mixed, we can say that much

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 542
I think I've reached the final boss in Shadow of the Erdtree. Put it this way, if there's another boss after this, I don't want to meet them.
Re: Random: Divisive Dark Souls 2 Is Seeing a Resurgence and Some Revisionist History
Tell you what it did do very well: new game plus. It really mixed things up, something they haven't repeated in recent releases, sadly
Re: 15 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Announced for August 2024
Almost bought Cult of the Lamb last week
Re: Mini Review: The Mortuary Assistant (PS5) - Prep Bodies and Banish Demons in This Terrific Horror Title

I hate it when a job turns out to be nothing like the advert

Bloodhound-stepping my way through Shadow of the Erdtree
Re: Best Borderlands Games
@LikelySatan The Pre-Sequel is very underrated in my opinion

@Kanji-Tatsumi Well said. In the wake of ever-worsening sequels, it's become common belief that the series relies on crude humour and shouting. It's been forgotten that the first one actually had a bit more about it.
Re: Oh No, PS Plus Email Spam Has Suddenly Returned
These are spam? You're kidding, I've been emailing every single one back with a considered 3,000 word review of each game.
Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 24
Two out of ten. It started badly and went downhill from there
EDIT: although looking back I've only played two of the games mentioned and those were the answers I got right so that makes me feel marginally better

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for August 2024?
I'm quite excited for Skywalker Saga, as it means I won't have to take the disc out when I send the kids to bed so I can play Elden Ring.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 540
Shadow of the Erdtree mainly, might dig into some post-credits secrets on Animal Well too.
Re: Subnautica Devs Keep Slipping Sequel Screenshots into the Original
What a game Subanautica was. I'd love a full-blown sequel
Re: Poll: Is the Astro Bot PS5 Controller the Best DualSense Yet?
I don't really mind any of them, they're all pretty good, but yeah that Astrobot one is a winner
Re: Astro Bot Continues Its Quest for PS5 Game of the Year with Sublime Gameplay Demo
I speed-read the headline and thought we were getting a demo through the PS Store. That'll teach me
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 539
Shadow of the Erdtree, and I've also restarted Dark Souls for some reason
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for July 2024?
I enjoyed the first Remnant game despite its flaws. Looking forward to giving the sequel a whirl when I can fit it in
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 537
Elden Ring, Sifu, Animal Well and WRC, which I bought this week. So Eiyuden Chronicle is on hold apparently.
