I'm a huge DOTA fan so I have watched and enjoyed events organized by the Saudi, China, Russia and the USA for years so I'm not going to play Mr. Morality.
This could be a cool event but I'm guessing this is actually going to divide players by country and that would make the event boring because certain countries just dominate in particular games like China and Korea in LOL or Pakistan and Korea in Tekken. If it wasn't for Menard USA and Japan would just dominate Street Fighter lol.
Now that we are talking about the Saudi, saw las week people are ready to "boycott" EVO thanks to someone who made the rumor that the 3rd EVO of the year is going to be in Riyadh because Sony was part of the EWC (doesn't make sense, the Saudi make almost all their events in Europe and they recommend their partners to do the same because they know were the money is). I respect if people want to fight against whatever Saudi Arabia are doing with their money and videogames but they are owners of SNK, they own a part of Nintendo, now they are working with Capcom and Tencent, CEO (the event) and many other events worked with the EWC. DOTA, 6, CS and COD are also part of the EWC so Valve, Ubi and MS are in too. Basically they are just everywhere so I expect for the internet people to do the same with every company and not only "boycott" the ones they don't like and act like the rest are innocent LOL.
@nomither6 when you say "they started allowing video games" you mean the players right? Because whatever situation the industry is right now is thanks to what people buy and pay for.
If people didn't use money in the services you describe those services wouldn't exist.
There is no reason to wish for a game to be bad or to fail so even when I'm not going to buy it I wish (for the devs) that this gets reasonable sells and playerbase.
Not everything can be a hit but not everything has to be an insta failure either.
KT opening a new studio after the success of Ronin and SU making a lot of money for the CEO after Stellar Blade their first console game (and the exposition that comes with PS). Looks like the "Exclusives are only good for the publisher" argument only applies when there is bad management behind the games lol.
I don't know if this a good or bad move but Sony making it's own Pokémon company sounds like a lot of interesting situations in the future. Merchandising, music, anime, all the good stuff japanese people like to enjoy lol. Now it makes sense why the reiteration that Nintendo didn't make any legal moves against them was around last week.
The interesting situations start with the fact that this doesn't necessarily mean the game is going to be on ps5 because Aniplex always works independently and doesn't favor PlayStation, that's why they have published switch "exclusives" lol. Of course the game releasing on PS is just a matter of time but that's because of the money and not because of Aniplex.
Also if MS saw any kind of possibility of making this their own Pokémon that pretty much is done, these kinds of moves are from guys who want all the money without being owned by others.
@somnambulance this isn't about the service dude. This is about the fact that the game was super popular in Japan and japanese people like to buy stuff so if the ip is already popular start making stuff. They already announced plushies, japanese people have new cranes with plushies every anime new season so you know they love their plushies. The next step is an anime and Sony has been doing great with anime these days. Your opinion about the game is accurate but this move goes beyond the game.
I don't know half the Overwatch characters featured in that video and the other half were part of the original roster so that alone tells me how uninterested I am in Overwatch lol.
Every looter shooter tries to be the next Destiny but this takes it too far lol. The worst part is they can make new icons in a couple hours (probably terrible uninspired icons) and update them and there won't be consequences.
Tom is right about open source. There are people who work for the love to contribute and there are people who only rip off someone else work and post it for relevance and money.
@Yousef- is 2k wwe a good product? I want the opinion from someone who is enjoying it. I'm interested now that the Cody Rhodes story line made me watch wwe again.
Not going to say it was obvious because it wasn't but the moment Blade Zero announced their demo tour, two locations are tokyo game show and china joy and it was confirmed the studio was using the ps5 for the demo it made cense to think there was a chance.
AstroBot has japanese dna, Horizon Adventures needs to do big on the switch and japan in the biggest switch market, the deal with Konami for Silent Hill, Valorant on console that is ultra popular in Japan. This is just the right time to be back.
@Grumblevolcano yup that is the plan and it felt even more realistic after the summer SoP that had this forced feeling to it and not just bad like the 2023s. They are going to hype it with everything (few or a lot) they have.
I still think netflix doesn't have the money to do this, the cast seemed nice but netflix is irregular when it comes to their economy and Horizon needs a lot of cgi.
They said in their company showcase they wanted to expand with merchandise and they sure are doing it, if Horizon Adventures works they can make more lego sets and now this.
If the figures don't have crossed eyes I won't care how "affordable" they are, they look cool.
EVO is probably one of the best investments Sony has made in the last decade, entering the Esports world really solidified the ps5 as the system to run tournaments. Obviously top players still want pc but Sony has done great selling equipment to the biggest tournaments at good price and being partner with other hype tournaments like those organized by Red Bull.
Business is all about timing and after years of organizing their technology festival every year the saudi decided to organize the first Esports World Cup and Sony is the biggest partner of the event, oil money was already involved at EVO Japan this year when one of the biggest esports Saudi brand was a partner. So yeah I think EVO acquisition has been a huge W. Also it's another opportunity to make the relationship with Disney stronger because Disney was another new partner at EVO Japan with Disney+.
@The_Wailing_Doom it's wild but that doesn't mean that they aren't taking anything from it. CEO, Kombo breaker, Kumite, and of course the Esports World Cup just to name a few are using ps5 and inzone because Sony can give them good prices or being partner of their events. Also if Capcom was already one of their biggest partners owning the second house of SF just made the relationship stronger, you can say the same about Warner and Bandai.
@Jamie1989 "So what happened? " a big update in a 15+ million playerbase vs no updates in a 6 million playerbase, that happened LOL.
Actually 200k concurrent for a game that had 2 million and 45k for a game that had 450k pretty much describes both games in the same situation. We already know Palworld was half the price than Helldivers and sold a lot more so for a comparison of the playerbase current state actual numbers don't matter, proportions do.
Imagine that in order to get views you have to write articles about a "dead game" ... just imagine lol.
As someone who has been playing Helldivers since 2015 I can say this is irrelevant because the magic about Helldivers is as long as the servers are up you only need 3 people more to enjoy the game, not 1 million.
The game already made 12 times the money Sony was expecting, the servers will be up for a gooood time so now given the number goes up when there are updates they just need to be smart and organize the big content in seasons. Will the numbers go up to half million concurrent? No, but more people will buy the game with time, it's still top 50 in steam and eventually will be on ps plus extra.
A gaming company that was expecting to release 12 or more services a couple of years ago doesn't sound like the kind of company that expects every game to last forever. And for Arrowhead, well they want to be the next blizzard on their own right? So I'm sure they have a plan in mind to add something that captures the masses attention again because encouraging pc players toxicity isn't going to make more people play the game that's a fact lol.
BTW for your bad review to be part of the review bombing you need to have the game in your library so I wouldn't worry too much about the idea of millions and millions returning the game when the log in was implemented.
@TruestoryYep days gone from the beginning got the "next big thing" treatment from sony, all the games in that tier (god of war, spiderman, the last of us, uncharted, horizon, ghost of tsushima) has sold more than what Days Gone sold without the help of pc. Days Gone was never intended to be in the sales category of Ratchet and Clank, Returnal, remakes and ports, etc. It's all about budget, expectations and sales at full price, not about the opinion of anyone, not the media, not the people who bought the game when it was $10. My comment about the ex director is because the guy is annoying AF, he talks every chance he has even when doesn't work for Sony anymore and he should be talking about his new games.
Now, if you really think "very few Sony games are as amazing as you make you out. Most are decent cinematic story experiences but that's it" then we are wasting our time here because my comment comes from someone who can see beyond the "OMG that's a movie not a game" agenda. If I wasn't able to see that I wouldn't be here LOL.
@Rmg0731 I don't know man, probability is based in facts and the facts are the 2 PS services (GT7 and Helldivers) of the PS all in services age were huge successes so even if Concord fails (and we still don't know if it will, it could be the same Helldivers situation where 1 million is more than enough because these games have a price tag) the probability of the Bend game being a success is higher than it failing so I wouldn't be worried of it shutting down. Now add that they "sold 9 million copies of one game" and the chances for it to shut down are even lower lol.
It's hilarious how people are using sales of a 5 year old game that has been on sale since the year it was released to justify that it was "good" when the game was one of the worst PS games when it came out (yes ps games are THAT good) and the only one who was talking sales was the ex director who was pissed off because the general opinion was that the game sucked.
The poor sales of Days Gone first year was basically the reason Sony strategy of pc releases changed to release games sooner.
So ... we don't remember anymore that the contract with MS for the publishing of this and two games more didn't have an expiration date and MS didn't pay for the sequel because the first one made no money (xbox and pc combined)?
This answer was a social media answer, they have almost a decade working in 3 projects at the same time.
We don't even know if we are going to exist next year and analyst already talking about this, same analyst who said gp would have 100 million subs in 10 years and that sh*t is actually killing xbox instead of growing. Meh.
The biggest takeaway from this is that if in his mind the best option was to admit conversations but nor consummation he should have said something like "she was 17, almost 18 when i met her" before saying he isn't a predator but he didn't so we are talking about a 35 years old guy having inappropriate conversation with a 16 yo or younger and that is freaking disgusting.
So you are telling me the same company that put "Only on PlayStation" in the Persona 5 boxes without an exclusivity deal and only taking advantage of the situation now is silent about an exclusivity deal with one of the most awaited games of the 2020s? Pfff ... please, MS thinks everyone is a gp user to believe their bullsh*t or what?
When everyone was losing their sh*t because MS had atlus games in their showcase I (and many others I'm sure) was only thinking about this game and how it looked more interesting than the atlus games lol.
@Fishmasterflex96 It dependes, looks? Sure. Gameplay? Maybe it won't be as simple. Concord looks generic but behind it there's a lot of veterans who know what the are doing. Actually gameplay is the only hope that game has to save itself from failure.
@get2sammyb Actually Ronin is the perfect example, people preach that they are up for a change in how games are made in order to "save the industry" but the moment they see something that doesn't look like the "standard" the altruism's gone and they trash the game. People don't want to acknowledge they are the reason why the industry is the way it is (and why sony for example is the way it is) and there is no simple going back, just forced by other portion of people buying other kind of experiences (less expensive in both time and money) like AstroBot opening the business for new markets.
Oh man that game was terrible, I remember watching the news about that game being a ps4 console exclusive and I was kind of hyped because it looked like a platformer like Jak so I watched the movie and I remember clearly "This movie s*cks ..." and the game came out like two years later and it also s*cked.
Anyway, PC demo huh? Yeah this game for me was always a pc game, I didn't even know this was going to be ported to consoles. If they are intelligent they could use the xbox delay to sell this to those who like console exclusives like how Larian did the marketing of BG3 using Starfield but the fact that they are showing only a pc demo ... Cyberpunk but with monkeys.
"This is why we can't have nice things"
Nope, we don't have nice things because people don't buy them.
-People wanted the last guardian. It didn't sell
-People wanted remasters, ports, remakes. They didn't bought Gravity Rush ps4, Medievil, Patapon (MOTHER ******S), etc.
-People want more smallers games, platformers, for PS to be more like Nintendo and you can read all over internet people trashing AstroBot and Horizon because they want GoT2.
This also applies to pc players, people wanted freaking Returnal on pc and it sold like 100k copies lol.
This isn't Sony first rodeo but now there is a difference here, Elden Ring was so hype that even the most basic streamers that only play fortnite and GTA rl talked about it just to be in the hype train and the youtube algorithm. That was one and a half year ago. Sony made a bet and it worked, the game is more valuable now than 2 years ago but I wouldn't expect anything until the ps6, xbox wants to release their console earlier? Make your console the console where the game that people are begging for is. PC players can wait? Nice, as they should. Is that going to sell a lot of consoles? Probably not but the reputation would be high from the beginning and that matters in the stock market.
A couple of years ago ps haters used to be around and one of their favorite activities was to enter to every discord xbox/ps news to say how discord "fleeced" sony. Now if you don't remember MS paid Discord to implement on xbox and after some time working together MS tried to buy Discord but Discord refused, couple of weeks after Sony invested in Discord and Discord started to work on a PS implementation in pandemic years completing first the xbox implementation, that's why they were "fleeced".
Wherever those haters are right now they can now rest in peace knowing the implementation is almost over lol.
The most interesting part is that they say they had conversations for this since the development of the LEGO set, the set released in 2022, let's say talks started in 2020-21, 4 years to make a game that looks that good is a great development cycle. AstroBot was also in development since the ps5 release, another 4 year project, I hope the switch bros buy this game so Sony invests in more smaller projects.
@Mikey856 sales numbers man. When you are working with a franchise is in the best interest of the owner to give you info so you know what makes money and what isn't. It's well know LEGO games sell best on the Switch so Switch is a must, you are already making pc games so pc makes sense and your console is also a must LOL so ps5 is in. Then you have xbox, a console that many studios are skipping on purpose to see if MS offers them a gp deal so they don't lose money porting the game and you also have the ps4 that most of its users are playing online games. Skywalker sold 5 millions (it's star wars after all), if xbox and ps4 had real numbers in the LEGO databases to push for those 5 millions the game would be there but if the data shows whatever number isn't significant enough then you skip them, xbox because is your competition and ps4 because you don't want to release more ps4 games.
@The_Wailing_Doom Sackboy is fun but by the time they made that game Sumo Group was already a thing and 1 billion for it was too much. They paid for insomniac 1/4 of that.
We are a little closer to a timeline where the fantastic Episode 3 game releases on ps4/5 and it has trophies. Quiet good decisions are what keeps the fire going.
All the love to van Dien but Extermination isn't as charming as the movies (or as HellDivers). The best feature of the game is that you can actually play with big squads but if people complained because they had to play with randoms in teams of 4 can't imagine when they are 10 or more lol.
Actually interested if the supposed 100k xbox players wanting HD2 on xbox will buy this just out of spite lol.
Tbh the only thing i'm "tire of" is not getting a full rpg, the rpg elements in their games are great, they have the talent, it's time to make one lol.
Already pre ordered my physical Astro Bot copy and I'm going to preorder LEGO Horizon too. I think is funny how people trash Adventures but also complain about it being on the Switch. If people were able to see beyond f*cking COD and GTA and buy other kind of games Sony wouldn't need the Nintendo Switch to reach the number of copies LEGO expects.
I think Astro Bot has A LOT to win here. It didn't need a crazy budget to use a franchise, it didn't need a crazy development time (4 years) and sony doesn't have any crazy expectations behind it (Returnal sold 500k and it was enough to buy the studio and give them new offices, LEGO Skywalker sold 5 million and obviously LEGO expects similar numbers with Horizon). I believe that if Astro Bot can put Ratchet and Clank type of numbers (between 1 and 2 million) we will see a lot more Asobi in the future. And they may have a chance, Astro Bot was #1 in vg sales on Amazon in many countries.
Also I hope the Switch bros actually buy Adventures, if that works we could have LEGO sets, I'm not a LEGO fan but I have a couple big Star Wars sets and I would love a Thunderjaw set.
It was always strange for me that they decided to put only their Indian studios to make this game, people from India are super talented when it comes to software but Prince of Persia was the face of the company before Assassins, it deserved heavy and experienced development power from the beginning.

F the people who are going to defend this guy.
Re: Silly Speculation Alleges Sony May Have Signed Secret PS5 Exclusivity for Black Myth: Wukong
Re: Round Up: We're All Sleeping on Capcom's Kunitsu-Gami, as Super Positive Previews Drop
"We"? Sounds like a herd lol.
When everyone was losing their sh*t because MS had atlus games in their showcase I (and many others I'm sure) was only thinking about this game and how it looked more interesting than the atlus games lol.
Re: Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Gets an Extended Gameplay Overview, Continues to Look Great
@Fishmasterflex96 It dependes, looks? Sure. Gameplay? Maybe it won't be as simple. Concord looks generic but behind it there's a lot of veterans who know what the are doing. Actually gameplay is the only hope that game has to save itself from failure.
Re: Ex-Sony Boss Shawn Layden Explains How to Make Games Faster, Cheaper
@get2sammyb Actually Ronin is the perfect example, people preach that they are up for a change in how games are made in order to "save the industry" but the moment they see something that doesn't look like the "standard" the altruism's gone and they trash the game. People don't want to acknowledge they are the reason why the industry is the way it is (and why sony for example is the way it is) and there is no simple going back, just forced by other portion of people buying other kind of experiences (less expensive in both time and money) like AstroBot opening the business for new markets.
Re: Anime Sensation Kaiju No. 8 Getting Game, But No Word on PS5, PS4
Give me a localization of Tokyo Revengers game first then we can talk Kaiju#8
Re: Preview: Black Myth: Wukong Could Finally Be the Game Journey to the West Deserves
So who remembers Monkey King: Hero is back? lol
Re: Hidetaka Miyazaki 'Knows for a Fact' FromSoftware Devs Want a Bloodborne PC Port
Re: V Rising (PS5) - Addictive Vampire RPG Is a Slightly Awkward Fit on Console
I love grinding as much as european salary men love farm simulators so this game is for me.
Re: New PS5 Firmware Update Adds Full Discord Calls and More
This takes me back.
Re: Astro Bot PS5 Will Get Free Post-Launch DLC
Probably some new levels to celebrate the 5pro when the time comes. I want a Selene and Helldiver Bots.
Re: Preview: LEGO Horizon Adventures Is an Unexpected But Very Pleasant Surprise
Re: Preview: LEGO Horizon Adventures Is an Unexpected But Very Pleasant Surprise
Re: Tencent Announces 15% Staff Reduction at UK-Based Sackboy Maker Sumo Group
@The_Wailing_Doom Sackboy is fun but by the time they made that game Sumo Group was already a thing and 1 billion for it was too much. They paid for insomniac 1/4 of that.
Re: Tencent Announces 15% Staff Reduction at UK-Based Sackboy Maker Sumo Group
@Frmknst could be wrong but I think they also maid LBP3
Re: Scores of Retro PS Plus Premium Titles Upgraded with Platinum Trophies on PS5, PS4
We are a little closer to a timeline where the fantastic Episode 3 game releases on ps4/5 and it has trophies. Quiet good decisions are what keeps the fire going.
Re: Preview: Phantom Blade Zero PS5 Slashes Through Soulslike Tropes for Pure, Cutthroat Action
ACTION ACTION ACTION
Sony is showing a very good eye for chinese games.
Re: Helldivers 2 a 'Good Tribute', But Starship Troopers: Extermination the Real Deal, Says Johnny Rico Actor
That monke wants lo live forever.
Re: Reaction: You Said You Were Sick of PS5's Sad Dad Sims, So You Better Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
Tbh the only thing i'm "tire of" is not getting a full rpg, the rpg elements in their games are great, they have the talent, it's time to make one lol.
Re: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Gets the Tiniest of Teasers, Now Targeting 2026
It was always strange for me that they decided to put only their Indian studios to make this game, people from India are super talented when it comes to software but Prince of Persia was the face of the company before Assassins, it deserved heavy and experienced development power from the beginning.
