Jesus Naughty Dog is untouchable. It looks incredible. Definitely worth 70 bucks. I didn't even know it includes the Left Behind DLC. Plus the Work Bench animations. I was such a sucka for that in Part 2. I'm glad they bothered to bring that also in Part 1.
Man these guys been bleeding for a while now. I think if AC Valhalla hadn't been such a massive success, Ubisoft would have been at the edge of their existence by now. Also explains why they wanna be acquired.
Lol I love the option "no, I hate cats" cause I actually do hate them. But I upgraded to Extra 1 week ago to test its library so, of course, I'll be playing Stray. I might start it today or tomorrow.
@Mad001 Days Gone has never sold 10 million. It had around 8 million players when the Director left the studio. Players ain't sales. As Days Gone was already on PS Plus it increased the player amount but not sales.
This year alone, Sony gonna put 4 juggernauts out in shape of Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, The Last of Us Part 1 Remake and God of War Ragnarok. I can only imagine what Sony has in its pipeline for 2023. Besides Marvel's Spider-Man 2, probably more blockbusters. Sony as a publisher really has been top-tier for years now.
OK. Anyways, a little bit off topic but what happened to the Video Pass Sony tested in Poland, I think. I assumed all their movies would land there to boost the value of PS Plus.
You guys might already know about it but if you don't, the initials of Delicious Last Course is DLC. I don't know why but when I was told that, I kind of was blown away by it. Word up, son.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Exactly. I was shocked too. I had seen these port beggings everywhere. So I assumed these games gonna sell 5 to 10 million with ease as they sell 20 million on Playstation consoles. But they barely do a twentieth of that. That's borderline insulting.
@Bismarck It does not really matter if you or anyone you know played Sony first party games on PS Now. The numbers speak volume. PS Now barely was able to maintain 3 million subs and that's across PC and Playstation consoles. So the PS Now argument is irrelevant. I don't know if Sony is happy about the numbers or if they just act so to please their investors. Regardless, these numbers are incredibly low. They ain't selling a tenth or even in some cases a twentieth on PC what they managed to achieve on their consoles. These numbers are nothing in comparison of how many PC players there are. Apparently the PC market is a different market after all.
@Bismarck You clearly don't need to play the previous games as they haven't even sold 20 million combined but God of War 2018 has. Ergo most players bought and played God of War 2018 without playing the previous installments. PS Now has been a flop ever since its release. Especially, on PC. I don't expect anything above 3 million on any single player game Sony publishes on PC. (MP games might be a different story though)
@Enuo Doubles? Are you tripping? Even God of War only sold 800K on PC. And Horizon Zero Down has only done 2 million on PC in how many years now? PC gaming ain't really into console games.
I except an announcement of a showcase of their first party titles. I couldn't care less about VR as of now, as I think Sony hasn't done an outstanding job with the PS5 yet. Third-party wise, I'd welcome FF16 and Little Devil Inside news.
Remember when these Xbox executives claimed Game Pass would boost game sales? Aged as poorly as the sales on Xbox consoles. Lol. Subscription models gonna kill gaming.
That's really impressive. Sure the bundle helped but seeing also the rise of GT 7 and Ratchet and Clank speaks volume. People are eager to play some games on the next gen hardware. Even though it's technically current Gen.
Hopefully. I need some more bangers. I'm running out of games. Just finished Ghostwire and I'm about to start Salt and Sacrifice. The Last Of Us Remake would be a great time, if it does come out this year.
@pushsquare I was wondering would you guys also cover the European Monthly Charts? As you cover the NPD charts (which is the American gaming charts) and weekly UK charts, I think viewing the European Monthly Charts is also very interesting. It's mostly Playstation oriented numbers so it might be an interesting topic for this Site. Plus it'd be just once a month. Just wondering.
@Jaberwocky The whole 111 million VS. 19 million argument makes no sense as we know for a fact that every game sells better on PS5 than PS4. Plus, this has always been that scenario in previous generations. A new generation starts and the previous halts.
And even beyond that, games like Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Demons Souls and Retunal have been said to be big hits according to Sony themselves.
The last gen support should have stopped when the next gen launched. PS4 had 7 years and a phenomenal library of games. Now it's unnecessarily expanding and crippling the potential and the library of the next gen games with the limitations of its hardware. 7 years of ongoing support is absolutely sufficient for customers to be happy with the purchase of a 400 euro hardware.
I love Prey but, to me, Arkanes best work is Dishonored 2. But I respect your take. That's how I'd order their games: Dishonored 2 Death of the Outsider Dishonored Prey Deathloop I do like all of their games. At least, those I played. Arkanes upcoming games not coming to Playstation is by far the most stinging result out of Microsofts Bethesda deal. Just BTW.
I hope it doesn't mean they're just starting a new project.
Nevertheless, I expect a new game by Sucker Punch in 2024 at the latest. All Sonys in-house studios should take Insomniac Games as a muse for quality and quantity in regards of video game releases.
Subscription models don't increase sales whatsoever for big games (I'm aware that Oddworld ain't really a big game still). Microsoft flat out lies about it. Their own released games are the ideal proof of it. Neither Halo Infinite nor the latest Forza game was longer in the top ten charts than 1 week. These subscription models might increase popularity for smaller titles and this is where Microsoft is cherry picking from to delude people into believing their lies. The subscription services is putting a blow into games quality sooner or later. If by sheer quality or by quality dragging monetization methods. Screw these models. Rants over.
Finishing Elden Ring. I'm at the last boss and he keeps kicking my ass. I haven't felt the difficulty spike at all up to this point, but now, yeah I feel the difficulty spike.
Hopefully I can finish Elden Ring this weekend to start off next week with probably Ghost Wire Tokyo. Let's see if Radagon can stop being a bully and let me slay him.
My take might be very controversial but I think every big publisher should have a dedicated studio only making remakes. Not only for the fans of that particular game but especially for the determination of potential revival or continuation of a video game. Trying to attract even newcomers as oldtimers alike. There are so many games from previous generations I want to play but due to the technical obsolescence I really don't want to play them. Unbearable graphics, horrible frames, slowass loading, clunky controls, terrible audio design, cringe voice acting and so on and so on. Remaking video games to nowadays standard should be a regular routine for all big publishers.
@RBMango I know where you're coming from but I still disagree. Horizon is a massive franchise. The first one sold over 20 million copies. How many brand new IPs can claim that? Horizon doesn't have to hide from any releases imo. Even though Elden Ring is much bigger than Forbidden West, Forbidden West is still doing good on its own.
Looks good. Most games seem to find some success even with that much competition around. Strangers of Paradise doing better than I thought it could. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands up there while being a Spin Off. Everything but Ghost Wire Tokyo, apparently. It's been said a bunch of time but this year is absolutely staggering. Although April seems slow for the most part.
Sony is generally extremely quiet about the projects of their first party studios.
And I agree that Naughty Dogs absence feels weird. They always had something concrete for us to look forward to. Now we're pretty much guessing more or less if their project Faction 2 is even a thing.
Sony bless us with a Future of Gaming 2 or something like that.
Just another piece of proof, of the already skyscraper high stack of proofs, that subscriptions in gaming is going to kill gaming as we know it. Every game is going to have the worst kind of microtransactions in em to make money as the games won't make money by sells alone.
When you taught GT 7 had bad microtransactions, wait for the time when everything is in a gaming subscription. ***** everyone who supports these subscription models btw.
@Number09 Hitting the skids? You mean after being number 1 for 3 weeks straight? Of course, as some point it decreases in position. It's still top 5 after 4 weeks. How many games besides them annual games can claim that? Especially nowadays. Elden Ring is another one of them btw.
Sony desperately needs a State of Play or something similar to Future of Gaming event.
I don't care about the whole Spartacus subscription nonsense at all, but Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 are out and are undoubtedly success stories. Now I need some sort of a road map for upcoming Playstation games in general. Plus the release date for God of War Ragnarok. All we know are Insomniac Games projects. I need certainty.
