Thanks for bringing some levity to an otherwise dour conversation.
On topic, nobody deserves to have their family threatened for any reason and the trolls need to be reported and pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
Not sure if it’s fixed with this version but previous versions of the Backbone are incompatible with most phone cases, so that’s a bit of a bummer if it’s still the case. I will say that I’ve been using Remote Play on my iPad with a DualSense almost every day and been a great experience streaming from the PS5, so if you’re worried about steaming quality it might be worth trying it out yourself. It’s a pretty big improvement over PS4 streaming IMO.
@Cutmastavictory because we don’t know what the new writers will do. Not saying they’ll be bad for certain, they’re just unproven until GTA VI comes out. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with your comments here 100%
@RawnDawn the head writers all left after RDR2 and the cultural landscape is much more volatile than when GTAV came out, so I do think there’s a genuine reason to worry about this being wildly different in terms of the writing.
Personally, I’ll reserve judgement until it’s out and I’ve played it myself.
I don’t really care if the games are exclusive to PS, but I do care that they aren’t exclusive to Xbox, since I don’t have one. So a Sony buyout wouldn’t really bother me. They’re already spending money on exclusivity deals, so they might as well just buy the cow and be able to do what they want with it. Square already have experience with PC ports as well which could make for a seamless integration into the new PS/PC ecosystem (although they aren’t the best ports. But maybe Nixxes could help fix them).
Looking forward to the reviews for this. It’s definitely my #3 most anticipated game for the rest of the year behind GoW and TLOU, but not ready to put down money until I see some recommendations and extended gameplay.
Working toward “Omni 90” in FFXIV, currently leveling samurai and dark knight. Been neglecting my healer jobs since Heavensward, so I’ll probably start white mage next. I’m also about 1 1/2 hours into Stray and loving it so far. It’s nice to be able to enjoy cats again after living across the street from a crazy cat lady for the last 5 years.
This is like the difference between a Pixar movie from 2005 and a Pixar movie from today. The original still holds up, but the advancements in tech are apparent when you see them side by side. The remake isn’t really necessary, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy the new shiny version for years to come so I’m all in.
Maybe they went back to the drawing board after Ghost of Tsushima ate their lunch. I’ve loved the last 3 AC games, but I’d really like to see a lot more stealth options. I think a shorter, linear game with a deep story and stealth focus would be awesome
@Bentleyma Yes! Sadly the original versions used the DualShock 2’s button sensitivity and the DualShock 4/DualSense controllers don’t have that, so I think that’s why they haven’t released the originals. I think they’re done with the Contra collections and maybe the Castlevania collections, so hopefully we get Metal Gear and Silent Hill next. Can’t wait to play these again! I have the HD collection on Vita which is a pretty good version IMO, but I’d rather play them on a big screen with a controller again.
“They got patched now” - they’re still bad. Getting better, but still not great.
“calm down gigi and stop going crazy” - idk who “gigi” is supposed to be. Seems like you’re upset people don’t like the thing you like, so you’re resorting to name-calling. Very mature of you.
If the GTA Trilogy Remasters weren’t garbage maybe they would have been better received. If they fix them up I’ll be interested.
I’d definitely pony up for a Red Dead Redemption remaster, GTA IV remaster, or a graphical remake of Red Dead Revolver. I’d also be willing to fork out $20 or so for a native PS5 version of RDR2 and I think I’d actually like these before a GTA 6 because I don’t trust them to keep the quality of a new game up with the recent writer exodus
To be clear, they have not said specifically that Crisis Core is this year. They said “this winter”, which starts on Dec. 21st. If they stick to the colloquially accepted start of winter it’s highly unlikely it releases this year.
Just further proof that social media needs to go. Cory just came back from his Twitter hiatus and this is the garbage he has to deal with… I can’t wait until the game is out and the devs get the accolades they deserve while the Twitter monsters have a meltdown.
@Would_you_kindly Cory is the producer for God of War Ragnarok. Basically, if he says something about the game it’s 100% official since he’s the one in charge.
Leveling red mage and fisher in FFXIV and wrapping up Newfound Adventure. Hoping to play a little more Horizon Forbidden West too, but that’s become something I only play when my wife is able to watch and we have a 5 month old baby, so probably won’t make too much progress in that 😁
I wonder if this is Sony trying to find the internal leakers. Every time they set a new reveal date internally, whether real or not, is an opportunity to catch the person leaking information. Each time they delay the reveal they could bring one or two more people into the “circle of truth” so only a select group of people are in on scheme.
@KilloWertz This! Seeing people complaining about getting $110 worth of games in a single month for a subscription they pay at most $60 a year to keep up.
For those people: I’m sorry they aren’t giving out Horizon Forbidden West and GT7 for free! 😂🤣
I just finished Observation yesterday and I’m still in the mood for space thrillers. This has gotten fairly good reviews and the PS5 version seems to be a good upgrade over the PS4 version. I think this might be next on my list
@rjejr the reporting on it (only mentioning Extra) seems to be as you proposed. Everything in Extra is included in Premium under the “PlayStation Plus Game Catalog”, but not the other way around since Extra doesn’t include the classics catalog or cloud streaming.
To your point of it being confusing, it seems like a better naming convention would’ve been helpful. Maybe something like “Bronze, Silver, Gold”.
@nessisonett Same for me. I’m on 200gb internet and using an Ethernet cable on the PS5 and haven’t had any issues with streaming so far. I will say that I noticed a significant difference going from streaming on PS4 to streaming on PS5 for some reason, so maybe there’s something there that affects it.
Congrats to everyone on PushSquare that can now enjoy the new PS+ service!
In the US here and just finished my first game downloaded through the service, “Observation”. It’s a short space thriller from Devolver Digital with unique environment interaction systems. Not a bad place to start with the new catalog of games.
For the people not happy about this not being turn based, do you play modern action RPGs at all or do you typically stick to turn based games? Not judging, just curious.
For me, I would love a new turn based FF, but I’ve loved the action combat from the last few games as well. So I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy with XVI, especially with Yoshi-P at the helm.
Jimmy really needs to get in a room with the other Sony execs and work on collaboration. Why wouldn’t you at least use PlayStation branding for this stuff? Makes no sense whatsoever.
Honestly my main criticisms of Remake are the side quests, which I didn’t really mind until my 3rd 100% play through (I like a little campy/corny content from time to time, although finding random cats is a bit boring), and the squeezing through tight spaces which were clearly intended to hide loading on the underpowered PS4. The loading shouldn’t be an issue in Rebirth since it’ll be designed based on the PS5, so there’s one thing taken care of.
Corridor-like levels don’t bother me. The way I see it, the more open the environment is the less polished (don’t @ me about the door 🤣) and dense it will likely be. Some of the best games of all time were just corridors (the first 6 God of War games, The Last of Us, Ocarina of Time except the fields, every 2D Mario, Uncharted 1-3). It especially doesn’t bother me because the original FF7 had even less freedom of movement than Remake and i think what we got with Remake was superb. With that said, I wouldn’t mind a more open world/bigger environments to explore as long as they can pull it off and keep the quality high.
What I do want from Rebirth is an expansion of the combat system with more weapons, magic, and materia option and more playable party members. We’ll probably pick up Yuffie at the beginning of the game and Vincent a short time after, but will we start with a playable Red XIII??? How are they going to make Cait Sith work??? Will we see Cid or are they going to save him for Part 3??? Will they throw is a curveball and make Zach playable at some point???
It’s a close call for me, but I think XVI just barely wins. I’m really looking forward to the more medieval setting. The last few FF games were more technology based on terms of setting, so I’m looking forward to the change.
Seriously though I would love a remaster or full remake of Crisis Core. I’m all in on the FF7 craziness at this point. Unless Goofy shows up. Then I’m out.
If this wasn’t a Sony game I’d probably pass, but the Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls remakes were fantastic, so I’ll bite for this one. If it ends up to have not been worth it for me, then I’ll likely pass on the next remake they announce.
This looks awesome and I’ll likely still pick it up, but I’m not into multiplayer at all. Anyone have recommendations on a beat ‘em up that’s best when played solo?
This seems specifically designed to dissuade media from reporting the games coming other consoles. Typically articles come out immediately and whenever new information becomes available the publisher of the article issues an update or correction that gets incorporated into the original article’s webpage. 99% of people never see the update/correction, so 99% of people go on believing those games are exclusive. It’s just an effective way of hiding the truth by taking advantage of the way online written media is disseminated.
Looks like the PC app is currently broken. If you download the PS+ app from the PS+ page it downloads the old PS Now app with a new PS+ banner at the top, but PSN is inaccessible. I can see all the old PS Now library as well as the new PS+ library, but can’t play anything.
I’m mostly okay with this, assuming the expansions are akin to MMO expansions (substantial addition of story content and NOT TAKING EXISTING STORY CONTENT AWAY). I’d prefer if the cosmetics were just in-game unlocks, but I’m okay with them being sold as MTX. If I don’t feel like I need them I won’t buy them, simply as that.
