Just picked up the deluxe edition in the last sale. I’ve seen enough people online saying they really liked it and videos of performance improvements to get me to pick it up to try for myself. Gonna have to wait until after FFXVI though, so I’m afraid it’s really going to feel rough in comparison 😅

Keeping my expectations low. I’m not super excited for it, but I know I’m going to play spider-man, so I don’t really care to see more of that and I have zero interest in VR. The things I care about most are just rumors at the moment. If they turn out to be true then I’ll be surprised and happy, but I’ll believe it when I see it! Realistically though, I’ve never been disappointed by a PS Showcase, so I’m sure it’ll be great

Honestly just hoping they release the HD collection on everything. A remake would be cool, but I’m happy to play the originals over and over again

Mostly playing Zelda, but chipping away at Hi-Fi Rush and Halo Infinite (finally upgraded to a better pc after 12 years of using the same potato), but I’m planning on dropping everything when FFXVI comes out and doing a platinum run of that. June can’t get here soon enough

Any idea if the battle-passes are time gated? I really don’t like the idea of buying something and only having 10 weeks or so to finish it. Much prefer the Halo MCC model.

Absolutely a sad day and hoping everyone finds work. A small silver lining is that, at least when Concrete Genie was released, PixelOpus was the smallest PS studio with less than 30 people IIRC. It probably wouldn’t be that difficult to find internal positions at other Sony studios for most of the team.

GOOD. Generally if I see that battle pass type content is time gated then I avoid the game altogether. I’m happy to pay for the season, but I want to unlock things at my own pace without having to play the same game for 3 hours a day to keep up

We’ll see, I suppose. Putting it out so close to Zelda, Diablo IV, Jedi Survivor, and FF XVI seems like a great way to kill your game. Here’s hoping for the best!

@crazykcarter absolutely. That $69b could fund 230 God of War Ragnarok level games.

I went ahead and picked it up just to support Respawn and single player games, but I think I’m going to do a Platinum run of Fallen Order before jumping into Survivor. And of course that’s after I finish my current run of Breath of the Wild and then Tears of the Kingdom. Also assuming FFXVI isn’t out by then.

Harder to start a company? Imagine you want to start a company that makes and sells proprietary gaming consoles and licenses games from third parties to sell on your console’s store. Now imagine the biggest company in the world who owns 80% of the top 30 established IP, regularly lines the pockets of your local politicians, and is in the process of buying every business and property in your area, also operate in the same market that you want to break into. Do you think it would be easy or hard to start your company?

Just pre-ordered this morning. Absolutely loved the first game, but with so much coming out this year I wasn’t sure if Jedi Survivor would be a good investment. Thanks for the excellent coverage

Honestly though this makes sense. MS are already the global market leader in cloud gaming, so adding the second biggest publisher to their service would just give them a massive advantage that they don’t really need. Stadia already closed and I never hear about Luna, so who is their real competition? Theoretically an Apple cloud gaming service could take off quickly, but that service doesn’t actually exist yet.

Always bad release timing for me. I want to check out both of these games but just have not had the time and money to spend over everything else out there. I’ll probably pick them both up on Black Friday this year.

@PSXDave Me too. I feel like KJP managed to adapt Decima into something that even looks like it was made in the FOX engine. If nobody told me it was actually Decima I would have thought they’d somehow licensed FOX from Konami.

Maybe Sony can scoop up some of those devs that got laid off and finally make The Order 1887

@UltimateOtaku91 the model of gating story behind seasons really ruined it all for me. Sure if you stick around and play every single season then it’s probably a great game, but for everyone else the story is absolute nonsense. It’s because if this that I have zero faith in them helping Sony with other live service games. If they would sell all the story bits of Destiny and Destiny 2 piecemeal and let me play all of them when I want then I’d probably get back into the series.

Pretty sure the checkmark isn’t just a checkmark anymore. IIRC the blue checkmark gives you priority in search and conversations over people with no checkmark and the gold checkmark gets you priority over people with blue checkmarks. So the gold checkmark is actually a pretty powerful marketing tool now.

Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7 killed my HFW playthrough, so I still need to go back and finish the main game (probably a restart at this point), but I did go ahead and buy Burning Shores. With all the bangers coming out I’ll probably get back to Horizon after Zelda and FFXVI assuming I don’t get sidetracked by something else in the backlog, which probably means delaying Spider-man 2. :-/

Honestly I hope it gets delayed into 2024. This year is already insane and I don’t have time for more 🥲

@Sarxion I was thinking Amnesia is targeting more adults while Zelda is targeting a younger audience, but now that I’m thinking about it a bit deeper I think you’re right. Zelda is kind of an “everyone plays this” type of game. I’m 32 and I prioritize Zelda games over everything else.

Absolutely agreed on Horizon. Sony should probably wait for Nintendo to announce the release date for the next Zelda before announcing a date for Horizon 3 😂😅. Just give Zelda a 3-6 month birth.

@PenguinLtd lack of testing and or ignoring known issues until it’s too late (I.e. bad management.) They likely look at a spec sheet for each new device and try to make the changes to the original game based on those specs rather than testing on the actual hardware throughout development.

@Bingo-Bongo knowing how Yoshi-P typically treats the games he works on, they’ll take every day they can to add polish and fix bugs. So very unlikely it gets pushed up, but very likely that we get a super polished end product on the already scheduled release date, after a massive day one patch of course.

Something to point out is that although they’ve shown over an hour of gameplay already it’s mostly been shown in livestreams and quietly released videos from SquareEnix. Most of the mainstream/casual players won’t have seen most of this stuff unless it’s in a big show directly from Sony.

@B_Lindz I agree. I would hope that it would be more affordable, but I really doubt it. I’ll likely be sticking with my current setup for streaming 🥲

Makes sense. Personally, I’d love a dedicated remote play device if it had the right control scheme and the right price. A replacement for the phone or tablet/Bluetooth controller combo would be nice as those can be finicky and uncomfortable in some situations. I probably wouldn’t pay more than say $120 max and it would have to be really good at that price. I use remote play almost daily, but I don’t know a single other person in real life that uses it, so yeah. Most people would probably have little to no reason to buy one.

As for the rest, although Sony acquired Psygnosis in 1993, the company continued working as a multi platform publisher until 1999 when systems like the Atari, Amiga, MS DOS, Gameboy, NES, and Sega Saturn were all good and dead. Also, at the time of the acquisition they had fewer than 200 employees and the cost of the acquisition was less than $40 million in today’s economy. By contrast, Activision Blizzard currently has more than 13,000 employees.

I’m definitely interested, but it has to be the right product at the right price. I use Remote Play on iPad quite often which works pretty well, besides the random controller disconnect which usually resolves within a few seconds. If the controller issues are fixed and the device itself is nice to use then I could see myself using it, but it would have to be a significant upgrade over using the iPad or PC and a Bluetooth controller.

Pre-ordered Live A Live and Burning Shores, but will probably pick up Jedi Survivor as well. The Megaman collection is tempting too. The Battle Network games are awesome and the collection has 10 games if you include the different versions of a few in the package (similar to Pokémon games having slightly different versions). Really there’s too much to play these days and it’s becoming a chore to keep up with even the best of the best.

Wish they would release the MGS HD Collection again. It’s been 9 months since it was taken off the digital storefronts. Would love to see it available on PS5.

Interesting insights into the size of the memory specifically. Tom from “Moore’s Law is Dead” was talking about this on Sacred Symbols+ recently. Apparently devs have easier access and use of the PS5’s memory due to its 16gb of RAM being one large block vs. something like the Series X’s 16gb of segmented memory which ultimately makes it easier to store and use larger assets.

Just waiting for this and another 2 years of updates, then I can finally play Cyberpunk! 😉

Really though I’ve started twice and dropped off each time because they announce another big update a week or so after I start playing. Really enjoyed what I’ve played so far, but at this point I’m waiting for the “final,” final product.

Need a 32” version with the same features for under $300 to replace my 20 year old Bravia currently in the bedroom 😅. If you go straight to Sony’s site you see a list of 10 different models that seem to have similar features and similar prices with basically no obvious distinction between them. Super unhelpful.

FFXIV is the best single-player Final Fantasy

Of the original resident evil games I’ve only ever played 4 and 5, so I’ll take remakes of the rest of the series. An Onimusha remake similar to the RE remakes would be awesome.

RE 7 and 8 were 4 years apart, so it seems they have a team making new mainline games and other teams working on remakes. We can have the best of both worlds

@Snackfood 🤣 This is the best comment. So relatable! I made a rule for myself that I’m not allowed to pay full price for COD and that has sort of helped. I still buy them all, but I’m always a game or two behind everyone else.
