Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta?

VaultGuy415

@somnambulance There is no comparison between a DD game and a MH game when it comes to gameplay depth. DD is a relatively simple hack and slash game with most of the dev emphasis put on graphical fidelity. Meanwhile all of MH's weapons have the move variety of a hardcore fighting game character. MH games have orders of magnitudes more enemies and each enemy has many more moves than anything in DD. MH has hundreds/thousands of items for crafting or deploying in battle. I could go on — point is you don't seem familiar with this series (and that's OK).

@DennisReynolds Every MH game feels dumbed down compared to the last one; welcome to the circle of MH life. Your comments are identical to what Tri/4U fans said about World.

Rey Dau is a solid fight and focus mode seems better than the clutch claw. I'm confident they will deliver monsters that are very tough (even before MR).

Re: Fans Work Out Why Monster Hunter Wilds Feels So Weird and Weightless in PS5 Beta

Agreed that the combat is too floaty and the visuals looked not great on PS5 once you see it on a good PC.

Another problem they have to solve is the f'd up animation interactions when you destroy a wound with a focus strike combo. On SA your hunter does this long combo, but the monster keeps moving, so you smack the air while damage numbers rack up. Looks dumb.

Still very excited and expect this to be GOTY '25.

I am pretty happy with Wilds now — earlier I turned off 120 Hz mode and it looked bad, you gotta keep that on. DO NOT switch to performance mode, it looks awful.

Soloing Rey Dau is fun & a bit like the early game Anjanath fight in World; you gotta be on your toes. The mounting is good and the sneak attacks you do when monsters brawl each other are fun.

The new wounding system and counters are going to take awhile to get the hang of. Focus mode is a big departure from past MH but I will try to figure out how to get good at it.

Re: How Much Would You Pay for Your PS5 Games? Dev Says Industry Is Waiting for GTA 6 to Hike Prices

VaultGuy415

@NEStalgia I'm perfectly happy to pay $70-80 + DLC cost for the 250+ hours I got from HFW. I don't feel ripped off in the slightest. I'll get even more bang for the buck from Monster Hunter Wilds.

Your contention seems to be that AAA gaming needs to die and that the industry needs to make everything cheap, stupid, and loaded with live service gimmickry because today's kids are used to awful iPhone games marketed to them by Instagram ads.

My question is this: Are you Jim Ryan? If so, please tell us what Bluepoint is working on.
