I’ll be super interested to see of this actually lives up to the hype. I actually ended up buying a fair few clones… but didn’t bother actually starting any of them, as I didn’t want them to take anything away from the original.

My initial guess… this wouldn’t have won any awards of it was a PlayStation exclusive. We shall see 🤔

Man, it’s at times like this (Q1 2024) that I just hate the fact that my backlog is so deep. I’ve bought Granblue Fantasy Relink, Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, have pre-ordered Stellar Blade and have a constant eye out for a decent sale price on RotR and Dragons Dogma 2… but I honestly have no idea when I’ll get to them.

I’m only starting the original Helldivers tomorrow ffs! 😅

Played my first Splinter Cell game recently (Blacklist) and really enjoyed it tbh. So much so that I’ve picked up the Classics HD Trilogy, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this remake too for sure.

Probably won’t play it at release (or even during 2024 tbh) but love the look of the game and look forward to getting around to it eventually.

Gonna be boosting the online trophies on Burnout Paradise: Remastered. Never played it back on PS3 but heard it’s great… looking forward to a test drive.

I get a feeling that this will hit in a similar way to Days Gone for me… ie reviewed poorly but I’ll end up really enjoying it.

4th playthrough of Asura’s Wrath before a further playthrough required for the platinum. I loved it initially as the story and style is to my taste… but all these runs are starting to take a toll 😅

@CaptD I also remember the IGN editor’s tweet (Justin Davis) about using Gamepass everyday but barely touching his PS5… then getting fact-checked and he actually barely touched Gamepass at all. Paid promotion from what should be the objective media.

@UnlimitedSevens yeah I’m not saying that I want Xbox out’ve the picture, nor that I want Sony to be the only game in town… I’m just happy that Microsoft’s attempts to simply buy up the industry look to have backfired.

I actually thought Microsoft’s decision to aggressively buy up the big third party publishes would’ve eventually worked ie. convinced the vast majority of PlayStation and Switch users to jump ship.

Glad it didn’t though, I disapproved of the arms war it initiated and feel that the more independent third party devs and publishers the better… I also feel that Microsoft of all corporations would’ve been the worst people to steward the industry given their track record.

These guys cast some serious shade in Xbox’s direction yesterday… you just don’t see enough corporate shade of that quality these days 🤣

Some positive gaming industry news for once 🍾

As someone not steeped in FF culture (I’ve only played VII Remake, XV and XVI) it was a truly epic action RPG. I understand that it didn’t necessarily scratch that JRPG-itch for the series-veterans but I loved it!

First-person has killed a lot of my enthusiasm tbh

On my third sojourn to Nioh 2. This time to finish everything off. The more I play, the more I appreciate its combat system… great game!

So I played down HD2 being ‘only’ 28% under the aligned Spider-man 2 sales earlier… this though 🤯

@Korra agreed… while 28% is a helluva lot closer than would be expected, it’s still under 3/4’s of the sales, on two separate systems… and wouldn’t be considered close imho.

@Fyz306903 kind of… but personally I would always prefer standalone extensions like Miles… and LL over dlc expansions like Iki island and Burning Skies. Maybe that’s just me though.

I’ve long thought that every major first party release should also be accompanied by an expandalone, like Lost Legacy, First Light and Miles Morales. They’ll rarely sell quite as well as the major release… but will definitely recoup costs.
