Re: PS5 Pro Still Likely to Launch This Year, Tokyo Game Show Reveal Possible

zero interest in such a machine. matter of fact, i find myself drawn more and more to nintendo systems and handheld gaming in general. AAA just feels like a massive letdown these days, with a couple rare exceptions. with the switch 2 on the horizon and the steam deck providing my most comfortable and versatile gaming setup, this half-generation leap will be made without me.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

nofriendo

WOW. Just finished the demo. Honestly... I'm blown away. The climax.... WTF??? It's Game of Thrones meets Devil May Cry meets Final Fantasy. Truly superb voice acting and writing. Incredible action set-pieces. Graphics and atmosphere are exquisite. What a package! I can't wait to pick up where I left off in the full game. Holy moly!

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Gets on the Sticks for Chill Let's Play Indies! Tchia Sesh

Beautiful experience, Tchia. Oftentimes these games lack in their moment-to-moment gameplay, especially when controlling the character, but Tchia is very polished in all its aspects. I'm barely paying attention to the main story (which is good!), instead roaming around the gorgeous world, launching myself from the tops of trees and commandeering birds to soar over the islands (and poop on other animals). What a unique and wonderful game!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Atomic Heart?

Beautiful game, neat premise, absolutely horrific writing and voice acting. It's so bad I quit and uninstalled the game. I've never been so turned off by video game writing before. It completely ruins the experience for me. It's peurile, unimaginative and toxic. Turns what could be a compelling immersive sim into a truly insufferable experience.

Re: PS Plus Members, This Is Your Last Chance to Claim December's Essential Games

nofriendo

I'm still confused about this, and I've been a subscriber for two years now. There's a one-month window to download or "claim" these games, and under the revamped scheme, there is also now a window, though a longer one, to play them after you've claimed them? Do I understand correctly that most games will at some point in the future be removed from the service, at which point, even if you've claimed and downloaded them, you won't be able to play them? Red Dead Redemption II and Slay the Spire were both games on the service, and now they're not, and even though I downloaded both of them, I no longer have access to play them. What's the point of that initial one-month window, then?

Judgment PS5 (got maybe 20% through the PS4 game before it was pulled out from under me and removed from the service). Gigantosaurus The Game (vibrant 3D platformers are my kryptonite). Pinball Heroes (does anybody else remember the golden era of 3D Ultra Pinball?). And maybe Heavenly Sword. Certainly enough to keep me busy through the holidays!

Re: Enjoy 30 Violent Minutes of Developer-Led Wanted: Dead Gameplay

@SamMR I too have been craving some solid hack 'n slash action, so I recently booted up God of War III for the first time through my PS Plus sub, and man, this game does NOT disappoint. It's fascinating to see the maximalism that's baked into this series' DNA, and how Barlog and crew managed to evolve it into in 2018's reboot.

@MFTWrecks I had the exact same experience with it. For some reason I still recommend the game to folks despite not having finished it. What I did play I (for the most part) enjoyed immensely. It was good until it wasn't. Its fatal mistake for me anyway is the game seems to squander your investment in the characters and story for a late-game difficulty spike combined with punitively sparse checkpoints. A much-improved iteration of the same basic setup is a no-brainer to me. These devs clearly have something special, and it seems like this time around their means have matched their ambition. Can't wait to boot this one up.

Re: Next No Man's Sky PS5, PS4 Update to Streamline Game for Newcomers, Veterans

I've put many hours into No Man's Sky but perhaps not as many as most. I don't feel I've done much actual advancing, though there has been some. Most of the satisfaction I derive from this game lies in simply inhabiting its universe. Exploring, gathering materials, blasting around space. I avoid combat and I delve reluctantly into base-building. I once tried a new game on Creativity mode, which allows unlimited resources, and quickly grew bored. I'm curious about this relaxed mode, whether it'll be too far in the direction of Creativity mode and won't keep me engaged, or whether it'll be just right for the experience I enjoy.
