Re: Hypnotic PS5 Pro Boot Screen, Background Worth the Upgrade

Are some of you mental? The site is called PushSquare, it's PlayStation-centric by definition. A new console is out, of course PS is going to write lots of articles about it. How is that unexpected or annoying? Why do you even come here if something like that bothers you? Weird.

The animated screen is cool, and what's best is that means there'll be more.

Re: Take-Two CEO Says Borderlands Movie Bombing 'Didn't Hurt at All'

@zupertramp you say so yourself, the OP is making assumptions. He's actually saying the CEO doesn't care. Amd youre saying hes nonchelant. There's simply no evidence of this, its all based on nothing more than a personal feeling to fit a perception. Certainly not based on the context of what was said in response to a question asked. In real terms, it's quite conceivable that the film's poor finacial result did not affect the franchise as a whole detrimentally.

Re: PS5 Pro Could Seriously Improve the Quality of Your PS4 Games

"Sony did touch on this in a PS Blog post earlier in the year, but itโ€™s yet to elaborate. โ€œEnhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games,โ€

That's pretty self-explanatory, not much to elaborate on. Very much what the toggle on Pro is doing. And according to the OG, it's system wide so won't be using PSSR.

Re: Sony Says the Best Time to Get a PS5 Is Now

"itโ€™s a little odd how this commercial exists to illustrate why you should buy the console, but instead goes on to promote the dozens of optional peripherals you can purchase alongside it instead."

Peripherals is where the real money is, that's why consoles used to be loss- leaders at best.

Maps the size of postage stamps nearly makes omnimove redundant. And the Skill-based matchmaking makes playing the game frustrating when you're starting off. The first 10 hours are a chore. Other than that it's ok so far, but if the reviewer thinks its a game someone could play exclusively for a year, I'm glad I'm not that person. This game could be played every day, up to the point it annoys you, and it will, and you need to play something else.

Re: Soulslike Lords of the Fallen Resurrects with 40% Higher Pixel Density on PS5 Pro

@atthegates I understand you're worrying about that. However, that worry is not based on any substantive proof other than an opinion. It didn't happen in previous generations where there was a mid-gen refresh. So I think you'll be fine. PS5 will always be the platform where game development begins. If anyone should be worried (and I'm not) is Pro owners who may be anxious that the game won't receive extra attention, that costs time and money, to improve it just for a niche audience.

So seeing them doing it for old games is reassuring even if it not going to benefit me personally.

@WiiWareWave really? And how exactly do you 'milk' a gamer out of ยฃ700? That's not a microtransaction. That's a significant amount that people of average income would have to think about before spending it. It's the kind of price that an enthusiast would consider, not a casual gamer.

The market is full of devices of one particular model with various versions of the device at different price points aimed at different audiences, and yet if console makers do it, they're milking people as if it's not a choice. Nonsense. All perspective lost. If you want to moan about 'milking', complain about subscriptions to go online, the death of second-hand games, digital prices being kept artificially high. A niche console for a select audience is a choice, and beneficial because the base model has become cheaper in tandem.
