Re: PS5 Slim Officially Unveiled, Attachable Disc Drive, Launches November

zupertramp

@Wakozako c'mon man, not one person is saying it's make or break. But downsizing seems to really be making the rounds these days and you're shooting yourself in the foot if you're happily accepting that.

Like there's what I can afford, and then there's what I expect to spend. I can afford hundreds of stands... actually I could probably buy one for every person on this site. I mean they're only $30 and every purchase is in a vacuum apparently. Or, Sony could just include it with their $500 box, as they were already doing.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Top a Staggering 25 Million as Phantom Liberty Hits 3 Million in a Week

@Jimmer-jammer fair point. But the situation was still unprecedented. And whatever the reason it left the store, this surely provided some not too noble motivation at CDPR. And cleaning up their mess, in my eyes the bare minimum, just isn't deserving of praise imo.

The true test will be their next launch. If it goes well then okay maybe we can put the whole ugly cyberpunk launch behind us.

Re: Chequered Flag for Gran Turismo Sport as Online Services Shut Down in January 2024

Idk, I hate live service and online requirements as much as the next guy but this really seems like a non issue. This was always intended as an online game anyway. Now there's little need for it with GT7. Life goes on.

Not much different than how I have Hi8 tapes but nothing to play them on, unless I want to spend an arm and a leg on an old working handheld. Nothing lasts forever, even if you own it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mortal Kombat 1?

zupertramp

Game is Good to Not Bad. Nothing to write home about but entertaining for what it is. Story mode ending was anti climatic, roster is lacking, invasions is clunky and goofy, they load you down with thousands of grindy customization options and an exceedingly slow shrine to get your loot boxes. But the fighting itself is about what you'd expect. Fun if you're into that kind of thing.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

zupertramp

@ArmoredMore but there's still only so many games to choose from and we know they aren't going the gamepass day and date route so idk, I predict it'll be the same slightly dated games that's it's been for a minute now. which, y'know all in all seemed fine with me especially when Extra came along but this thing where essential goes up every couple years... it's not for me. But that's pretty much every subscription these days which is why I generally opt out.

Again though, fwiw, Extra was probably undervalued from the jump and it seems reasonable to rectify that but bumping the bottom tier service up 20 bucks a year? Nah they're wrong for that. Just my humble opinion.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

zupertramp

@ArmoredMore my enjoyment one year to the next is, more often than not, complete chance. but I guess if you end up liking the upcoming offerings more and want to chalk it up to the price hike, that's cool. still, I think most folks aren't going to see a noticable difference, as I suspect there's only so many games $6.66 will get you that 5 dollars couldn't.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

zupertramp

@ArmoredMore gonna be pretty hard to quantify a difference in quality for a service like this though honestly. Not to mention most folks, much to my chagrin, argue that these "free games" we get through essential aren't really what we're paying for so I'm not sure why the price would need to increase to offer better titles. Kinda proves they aren't free once and for all though so at least there's that.

Extra is an entirely different beast though and a price hike there seems far less an issue imo. Premium, I don't even know why anyone would pay any amount for that but that's just me.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

zupertramp

@ArmoredMore monthly is a pretty fair way to break it down. but it's also fair to take into account the percentage of increase (which is a tad high) along with the justification for the increase (which seems to be non-existent).

I don't think it's a matter of 3 more dollars putting anyone into bankruptcy.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

zupertramp

@Jacko11 idk, I'm pretty sure if there were games that should be $100, they'd be $100. No one's losing money at the current price point.

It also shouldn't go unnoticed that there are plenty of editions of games that go for well over $100 now. It's pretty unremarkable. So where they feel we should, we're paying what you feel we should be paying.

Re: Script for HBO's Last of Us Season 2 Premiere Beats WGA Strike Deadline

zupertramp

Hopefully they don't try to cram production and shooting into a smaller window than planned just to make their original release. That's my only concern with the strike... Earn deserved gains and protections from the studios just for everyone to overwork themselves trying to meet somewhat arbitrary targets. Until then though... huelga!

Still, I fell off mid way through 1st season so not too concerned over this one. Looking forward to more games!

Re: Microsoft's Potential Game Plan in 2020: 'Spend Sony Out of Business'

zupertramp

@NEStalgia idk, gamepass + acquisitions (of the most popular gaming IPs independently floating about) seems like a strategy of trying to spend Sony out of the market. You can't take whole franchises off another platform and say it has nothing to do with trying to harm that platform. Just because it's falling doesn't mean it isn't part of that plan. Do they wanna expand their mobile and PC? Sure. But to say beating Sony, the competitor trouncing them in the console space, isn't a focus... that's just not in line with the actions they've thus far taken to undermine the options available to PlayStation players.

And I don't see any of this as evil, mind you. MS isn't the bad guy. But that doesn't change that it seems obvious they are trying to leverage their power and size here.
