Re: Filming for the Fallout TV Show's Second Season Will Start Again Very Soon

zupertramp

Knowing absolutely nothing about Fallout I loved the series and look forward to Season 2. Didn't expect much from this at all either but I'll give anything with Purnell or Goggins a try and I was hooked after the first scene truth be told.

Also looks like filming for first season ran for about 10 months and wrapped in March '23 so if that's anything to go by we might see this drop mid to late 2026 so I'm not sure I'd say there's anything particularly expeditious about the show's return.

Re: Some Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Fans Are Furious It's Not Getting DLC

zupertramp

@Keyblade-Dan yeah tbf to those disappointed or upset, this does feel like a last minute decision and when you consider some, albeit probably a very small amount, of resources went into a PC release that maybe could have been committed to DLC I can see why some might feel let down.

Also let's not pretend like DLC isn't fairly standard for this type of release. So if you know you aren't putting any out, probably a good idea to state that up front which they didn't... most likely because they had every intention of developing DLC but dropped it cause nah, we owe you nothing.

In short just communicate. You're not gonna please everyone but communicating at least shows some effort.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Exec Shawn Layden Says There's Been a 'Collapse' in Gaming Creativity

zupertramp

@Gewertzx "There would be no justification in creating small weird niche products without the massive infrastructure that capitalism provides."

Weird niche products were all gaming was back in the day though. You know how much Sim Ant I played as a kid? Sim freaking Ant. Lesiure Suit Larry. A Puzzle of Flesh (or heck just FMV in general). Games were quirky and weird because, to Layden's comments, there was less money and less risk involved. Not too interested in discussing the pros and cons of capitalism generally but when it comes to this industry I'd say niche games only exist now in spite of capitalism. Certainly not because of it.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Sounds Like a Ridiculously Good PS5 Upgrade

zupertramp

Probably go in for this at a later time. HFW still feels fairly fresh in my mind; add to that some open world fatigue and I'm just not craving a return to HZD just yet.

Weird to see people dumping on the first though. It was an enjoyable take on open worlds at the time. Writing was solid, combat was fun, enemies were cool... it wasn't without some flaws or retreads but it's still up there with the best of the PS4 generation imo. For $10 I'll upgrade eventually.

Re: One Year On, Plucky PS Portal's Sales Remain Strong

zupertramp

@Kidfunkadelic83 not a problem. though keep in mind, while I don't think of my area as having horrible internet options, there are places with better. and that's probably the deciding factor on out of the home use. if you just want something you can use inside the house without hogging the TV, then you should have no issues.

Re: One Year On, Plucky PS Portal's Sales Remain Strong

zupertramp

@Kidfunkadelic83 I kinda regret buying mine because if I'm not on my home Wi-Fi network the lagginess makes most games fairly hard to enjoy. I consistently struggle to steer in Hot Wheels, often mis-time dodges in Tlou p2, and my shooting average drops considerably in nba2k all because on just about any connection I have there's a great deal of delay.

I did need another controller though and as this works fine at home and can essentially be used as a second controller I guess it's not a complete waste. Just kind of expensive for just that.

Re: Acclaimed PS5 Platformer Astro Bot Really Couldn't Be Selling Any Better

zupertramp

@PuppetMaster I thought I was asking what it was. Maybe my comment came off wrong. Anyway I appreciate the input about the gameplay though (and level design and such).

It's just, seeing some random woman I don't know enjoying it on YouTube, or hearing about how it's a Sony title that sold well among Sony fans isn't really what I was looking for. Just needed some confirmation it's not just fan-service.

Re: Fortnite's Rocket Racing Seems to Be Running Out of Gas on PS5, PS4

zupertramp

Downloaded Fortnite for this but couldn't really get into it.

One problem is the launcher or interface or whatever makes me straight up feel like an elderly old man being handed an iPhone for the first time. Just too much going on and idk wtf I'm looking at.

Additionally, as regards rocket racing, like, why am I learning all these buttons just to steer? Way too convoluted. Went through the tutorial and knew immediately this wasn't for me.

The LEGO game isn't bad though. Also a bit more complicated than it needs to be but I'm probably forgetting how much I had to learn going into Minecraft back in the day that seems second nature now.

Re: TV Show Review: Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft - Globetrotting Animated Adventure Edges Lara's Arc Forward

zupertramp

@dark_knightmare2 she really wasn't that jacked though but I suppose it depends on which flashback we're talking about. And she seemed to get frustrated with Manny for cutting in the line for food so, for all her other faults, she didn't seem like one to take advantage of her status in the way you suggest. And trust me, there's plenty of gross discourse around this game, much of which I roundly ignore; I love this game. But complaints about her physique being a tad unrealistic aren't without some merit. Strong, jacked women, or unconventional body types, I have no problem with. (See: True Detective S4 or Glow - 2 shows I love) It just seemed anachronistic in this case. I'd say the same if there were a male character in this series like her but there really isn't.

Like I mentioned it's all good though. It doesn't keep me from enjoying the game.

Re: TV Show Review: Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft - Globetrotting Animated Adventure Edges Lara's Arc Forward

zupertramp

@Sondheimist @Blaze215 interestingly the nutrient thing was kinda my only issue with Abby being that buff. Sure there's food, and a gym, but it's a militarized zone she's living in. Ostensibly they are rationing food so it's gonna be hard to consume the necessary calories to build that much muscle. After all we do see her when she is young. A little tomboyish sure but frankly, there's nothing there leading us to believe she's a future Ms. Olympia. And while we don't know her mother, just going by her father... meh, I'm not seeing where this is coming from genetically either. So I always felt they went a little overboard on Abby but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Just thought they made her that way as to contrast Ellie and also so as to really help punctuate how much she must have suffered there at the end.

Re: PS5 Pro, 30th Anniversary Consoles Now Available at More Retailers

zupertramp

@gollumb82 yeah, gets a little old. I'm decidedly not broke precisely because I don't spend my money on what I consider to be foolish things. Now that definition is certainly in the eye of the beholder, so I understand it differs from person to person but simple fact of the matter is I don't see the value in this upgrade. It's really not about affordability.

Re: 14 More Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

zupertramp

@rusty82 good to know. I don't take any of them too serious so really I've enjoyed all of them with the exception of Man of Medan. Family typically all sit down together and just go with whatever but Man of Medan was just so boring. Couldn't finish it. Devil in Me is the only one I'm missing.

Re: LittleBigPlanet 3 Will Be Taken Off PS Store on 31st October

zupertramp

@sanderson72 yeah wasn't sure on the particulars with this one but it kinda sounds like it's getting abandoned altogether. Not sure though. At the end of the day, with modern games being put out in rather shoddy shape at release, it's clear we're still at the mercy of the continued operation of some server somewhere.

Re: Beat Saber Will Give You More with Britney Spears DLC Song Pack

zupertramp

@NEStalgia lol well flailing about was no problem for me. that i had down for better or worse. definitely opposites in that way.

and yeah i hated those where they want you to purposely miss so many as an objective. but even there I guess it gets you better at monitoring the other parts of the screen (or something).

iirc correctly Burning Sands and Overkill, both of which i absolutely love on expert, have sections of sabotage toward the end. so yeah, i know what you mean, very frustrating.

Re: Beat Saber Will Give You More with Britney Spears DLC Song Pack

zupertramp

@NEStalgia yeah I think I completed the campaign, or a great deal of it I don't really remember, and while I think it actually does help you get better in some ways* I agree the real fun is just free playing whatever songs you want at your preferred difficulty.

*There was one campaign level in particular where you had to basically move as little as possible and getting the hang of essentially using just your wrists was more difficult for me than it maybe should have been but I think that was one I remember really helping me get better.

Re: Beat Saber Will Give You More with Britney Spears DLC Song Pack

zupertramp

@NEStalgia Also not a fan of Britney but I also really love what I would consider terrible music when played on Beat Saber. In fact most of the music is trash imo but turns out trashy music can actually be really, really fun to slash blocks to.

Speaking of long maps(?) have you tried Angel Voices? One of my favs for sure just because it's so grueling but satisfying at the same time. Expert is the sweet spot for me where it's not so challenging it's frustrating but I will say I used to be fairly terrible and one tip I'd give is do not be afraid to slow a song down to learn it. Giving myself that opportunity for my brain to catch up with the patterns really helped.

Re: These LEGO Horizon Adventures Machines Will Make You Want a Real Life Set

zupertramp

Horizon in Lego form is brilliant. I was so so very tempted by that Tallneck a couple years ago but it was ultimately an expense I found hard to justify. Something about the two worlds, lego and horizon, really gels though.

Having said that, the Lego games have been fairly janky and uninspired for a minute now. Much like the Tell-tale games they took what was a really good idea in the beginning and ran it into the ground with seemingly no improvements or innovations. So having been burned by a couple Lego digital properties now, I'm holding out until I hear some absolutely raving reviews and even then this is definitely a "buy on sale" purchase.

EDIT: I guess it's fair to acknowledge this isn't developed by TT Games and so past performance may not speak to future results.

Re: Sony Product Manager Urges PS5 Fans to 'Settle Down' Over Ads

zupertramp

@LuXifer Someone else who gets it! I know all the other commenters here are much smarter than me and you but I had no reason to doubt this was intended. Its appearance being a little off wasn't a clear indicator either, instead it simply looked as if they botched the implementation.

Acting like more ads is far-fetched is borderline delusional though.

Re: Sony Product Manager Urges PS5 Fans to 'Settle Down' Over Ads

zupertramp

I'm not so conspiracy-minded that I believe this was all just a test (as if Sony needs confirmation that people hate ads) but maybe just apologize on X instead of telling people to settle down. Weird response.

I personally think the UI is still littered with way too much promotional BS but that's just me and anyway I've learned to live with it. Thankful this didn't add to it in any case.

Re: Bickering Begins Over PS5 Pro's Inability to Sell Out

zupertramp

@Shalooda I would never consider gaming and golf anywhere near each other in terms of their affordability and accessibility to the every day consumer to be honest. I mean I get that some regular joes buy golf clubs but at the end of the day it's an extremely elitist sport. Never saw gaming to be that way. I grew up in a trailer house and still had a Nintendo. There definitely wasn't any golfing going on however.

But really my point was just trying to get others to see why people who didn't plan on getting this console might still care how it sells. Wasn't really my intention to get into a debate as to whether this is luxury or not. It's kinda all relative anyway.

Re: Bickering Begins Over PS5 Pro's Inability to Sell Out

zupertramp

@Kalime78 I really don't know what Sony will do. But you do have people even in this very comments thread resigning themselves to playstations being luxury items. That attitude is relevant. The price point for the "premium" model in 2024 is relevant to the price for the more powerful and newer gen model in 20XX.

Re: Bickering Begins Over PS5 Pro's Inability to Sell Out

zupertramp

@roe But there's an elasticity to it at the moment. Some of y'all (not necessarily you but just in general) are absolutely ensuring Sony prices this thing out of reach of people who kinda just like to have a console kicking around. I mean that's Sony's prerogative of course, if they wanna be Apple okay I guess but as consumers we do have a say in that.

Re: Bickering Begins Over PS5 Pro's Inability to Sell Out

zupertramp

@Pranwell why be concerned about a future purchase? it's possible I may not have quite the Buddhist, que sera sera attitude that others have but imo, that's part of being an adult honestly - planning for future purchases. Seriously no disrespect intended but I think some people are being way too unconcerned about how much things cost.

Re: Bickering Begins Over PS5 Pro's Inability to Sell Out

zupertramp

@roe the relevance for the "it's too expensive" crowd is not hard to see. if this is a success, it sets a precedent. it's not just people being busy bodies or envious or bitter. it impacts what sony will likely do for the PS6.

EDIT: sorry, wrong word I just woke up

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Annoys with Unwanted Deluge of Ads, News Feed

zupertramp

I don't understand who defends any number of ads on a luxury gaming console. This isn't supposed to be ad supported. I bought the thing. It's mine. Good grief this is stupid but it's whatever I've come to accept I hate this gen and probably will all subsequent abominable manifestations of late stage capitalism. This is the world now I guess.

Re: All Eyes on Aloy (Again), as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Comparison Does the Rounds

zupertramp

Meh. It looks better in a way. But then the cheek bones aren't as pronounced and the smile lines have completely gone away which do y'know help people look more like people. Plus something about the new image is too smooth, especially the clothes. But lighting-wise I like the remastered image. The glossy lips are silly but it is what it is. Regardless I doubt I could replay this despite absolutely loving it the first time around. I think the slog that was HFW kinda killed this series for me.

@Pushsquarian @Northern_munkey @MikeOrator @themightyant @Weebleman @AhmadSumadi @Kidfunkadelic83 I'm definitely curious who all has me blocked though. That would actually really bother me because I try really hard not to be too annoying.
