Just platinumed it this week. A wonderful little game, it's 5 hour length was about right for it's concept otherwise it ran the risk of either running out of ideas or getting too complicated.
A lot of people showed there true colours this week with how they handled the hack (looking at you Eurogamer and Kotaku) plus the levels of whataboutism knows no bounds.
The disappointing part is that it says Battle Pass on it. I had hoped that Sony would try to innovate on the live service formula, rather then copy the usual business model.
It's sad to see a lot of work wasted but if it came down to working to them choosing live service or single player then I think most would agree that they chose wisely. As for Bungie's part...it's possible they along with Sony looked at how big the game was and how many people it would require to make post launch content to keep players going. It would make sense now why they collectively would come to that decision.
In a year when nearly 10.000 people have lost their jobs it was the final insult that when a show that's supposed to celebrate them they decided not bother highlighting that nor allowed them any meaningful time for their acceptance speeches. Geoff Keighley needs to make his mind up, either commit fully to it been an awards show and cut down on the trailers. Or ditch the awards format and just call it Winter Game Fest.
Things apparently Sony shouldn't be doing:
1. No Remasters/Remakes
2. No sequels
3. No Roguelike modes
4. No multiplayer
5. No Live services
6. No PC releases
7. No cross gen games
8. No VR games
Considering some of the decisions that the Bungie's leaders have made in recent years, I fail to see how a Sony takeover can't be anything but a good thing.
@ShogunRok It was always going to be a teaser trailer.
Looks amazing graphically and Miami/Vice City was always a more appealing location for me then Los Santos. Hopefully in the meantime they rerelease GTA 4.
@Cherip-the-Ripper How can they be "same old offerings" when they've never been on Plus before?
What are people really expecting? Powerwash is one of the breakout indie hits in the last couple of years, Sable is a chill exploration game and Lego Drive is a good offering for families at X-mas. It's a good variety.
@NinjaSixx I can perfectly understand point of view on that but on this occasion I don't think it's about bringing mobile content to PlayStation but more about using their IPs on different platforms. The way I look at it is, as long as we still get Horizon games on console then I'm not too concerned how many mobile offerings they do.
Seems like a good move. Previously Sony relied on just their IPs to do the leg work on mobile but it never worked. So partnering with companies who know the key markets should be a more sound business move.
@Fiendish-Beaver "what would you have them do" Well they bought a load of studios back in 2019 and that should have been enough but no they then bought Bethesda and Activision potentially taking long established multi platform IPs and making them exclusive to Xbox permanently.
Call me old fashioned but I find the idea that MS now own
CoD
Warcraft
Diablo
Fallout
Elder Scrolls
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro
Doom
Overwatch
The Outer Worlds
StarCraft
Wolfenstein
Hearthstone
And Candy Crush utterly gross. Especially when they are IPs that MS had no meaningful involvement with at all. Sony's exclusives output either comes from them directly funding it or timed exclusivity on PlayStation legacy IPs like Final Fantasy rather then buying up a whole catalogue to bloat up a subscription service in the faint up it will dramatically boost the numbers by 2027.
@Ultrasmiles 2nd party is not a common term hence why you've probably not heard of it. It's ultimately a way of breaking down (in this case Sony's) games amongst the studios. 2nd party basically means games that Sony are publishing but don't own the studio making the game. Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin fall under that.
I'm trying to think what the context of Shift Up now been a second party studio means. Presuming it's not old news from when Sony announced that they were publishing Stellar Blade. Maybe it's now a multi game deal or possibly an acquisition agreement based of certain objectives been met. Either way I can't wait to hear more.
Got to love how PS5 is very successful and it's just a fact but some want to add weird asterisks to play it down. "Too many of the same games" = my favourite type of games aren't been made so it must mean it's a wider issue. "Barely any exclusives" = cross gen games don't count... apparently. "PS5 is only successful because of PS4" = I'm dismissing previous consoles that flopped after a successful one, so it suits my narrative. There's a term for all this... it's called...moving the goalposts.
Since Sony were publishing it I would have preferred if they had a more hands on approach and gave the project to either one of their own studios or a trusted 2nd party.
@rachetmarvel Maybe people will defend Sony because it's a stupid lawsuit that's a waste everyone's time...as well as tax payers's money. Not to mention that if it was somehow successful it would have a huge impact on Sony's quality output going forward. And for what? Just because some people want to save a few quid? Just wait for a sale.
@EfYI What you played was the PS4 version slightly enhanced. This would be no different then Ghost of Tsushima or Death Stranding getting native PS5 versions.
I don't get the criticism that ND gets for not releasing a "new" game. The last time they did was TLOU2 which came out in June 2020. Meanwhile Sucker Punch released Ghost of Tsushima just three weeks later, yet I don't hear people complain about when we'll hear about there next game.

@OrtadragoonX They will eventually, nothing lasts forever. But Marvel brings in the money right now.

@Juanalf R&C didn't sell, Spider-Man did. The markets spoke.

Re: PS Studios and Many More Spread Some Yuletide Cheer with Festive Cards
I love the Spider-Man one, especially as it references when players had Venom ride a bike once they were able to break into the open world.
Re: DLC Review: God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla (PS5) - An Essential Epilogue for Fans of the Series
My thought when I was playing this was Sony could have charged around £10 for this and I don't think the majority would complain.
