Re: Game of the Year: #10 - Cocoon

Just platinumed it this week. A wonderful little game, it's 5 hour length was about right for it's concept otherwise it ran the risk of either running out of ideas or getting too complicated.

Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer Project Is Officially Cancelled

It's sad to see a lot of work wasted but if it came down to working to them choosing live service or single player then I think most would agree that they chose wisely.
As for Bungie's part...it's possible they along with Sony looked at how big the game was and how many people it would require to make post launch content to keep players going. It would make sense now why they collectively would come to that decision.

Re: The Game Awards Is Getting Ripped for Urging Award Winners to Wrap It Up

AdamNovice

In a year when nearly 10.000 people have lost their jobs it was the final insult that when a show that's supposed to celebrate them they decided not bother highlighting that nor allowed them any meaningful time for their acceptance speeches.
Geoff Keighley needs to make his mind up, either commit fully to it been an awards show and cut down on the trailers. Or ditch the awards format and just call it Winter Game Fest.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for December 2023 Announced

AdamNovice

@Cherip-the-Ripper How can they be "same old offerings" when they've never been on Plus before?

What are people really expecting? Powerwash is one of the breakout indie hits in the last couple of years, Sable is a chill exploration game and Lego Drive is a good offering for families at X-mas. It's a good variety.

Re: Sony Confirms Strategic Partnership with South Korean Publisher NCSOFT

AdamNovice

@NinjaSixx I can perfectly understand point of view on that but on this occasion I don't think it's about bringing mobile content to PlayStation but more about using their IPs on different platforms. The way I look at it is, as long as we still get Horizon games on console then I'm not too concerned how many mobile offerings they do.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Shift Up Allegedly Signs on As Sony Second-Party

AdamNovice

@Fiendish-Beaver "what would you have them do" Well they bought a load of studios back in 2019 and that should have been enough but no they then bought Bethesda and Activision potentially taking long established multi platform IPs and making them exclusive to Xbox permanently.
Call me old fashioned but I find the idea that MS now own
CoD
Warcraft
Diablo
Fallout
Elder Scrolls
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro
Doom
Overwatch
The Outer Worlds
StarCraft
Wolfenstein
Hearthstone
And Candy Crush utterly gross. Especially when they are IPs that MS had no meaningful involvement with at all. Sony's exclusives output either comes from them directly funding it or timed exclusivity on PlayStation legacy IPs like Final Fantasy rather then buying up a whole catalogue to bloat up a subscription service in the faint up it will dramatically boost the numbers by 2027.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Shift Up Allegedly Signs on As Sony Second-Party

AdamNovice

@Ultrasmiles 2nd party is not a common term hence why you've probably not heard of it. It's ultimately a way of breaking down (in this case Sony's) games amongst the studios.
2nd party basically means games that Sony are publishing but don't own the studio making the game.
Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin fall under that.

Re: Reaction: PS5's Success Is Not Luck, Because Sony's Spent Years Putting in the Hard Yards

AdamNovice

Got to love how PS5 is very successful and it's just a fact but some want to add weird asterisks to play it down.
"Too many of the same games" = my favourite type of games aren't been made so it must mean it's a wider issue.
"Barely any exclusives" = cross gen games don't count... apparently.
"PS5 is only successful because of PS4" = I'm dismissing previous consoles that flopped after a successful one, so it suits my narrative.
There's a term for all this... it's called...moving the goalposts.

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Version Appears Inevitable Now

AdamNovice

I don't get the criticism that ND gets for not releasing a "new" game.
The last time they did was TLOU2 which came out in June 2020. Meanwhile Sucker Punch released Ghost of Tsushima just three weeks later, yet I don't hear people complain about when we'll hear about there next game.
