I wonder if Sony have something planned for the IP? Sumo Digital are believed to be doing a PS5 exclusive and they did do LBP 3 and Sackboy so it's possible.
@get2sammyb @Areus My guess is that they used UE5 because the rumoured Firesprite sequel might well be doing the same so they wanted it to look visually consistent.
I'm still using my 24' Finlux TV from 2013 and I still don't feel compelled to upgrade for my gaming. And if I did I'd probably only go as high as 1440p anyway.
@yazzika That's awesome to hear such a different take on how a game resonated with someone. That moment when you climb over the hill and Asylum for the Feelings starts playing still sticks with me, it absolutely captures the game's atmosphere perfectly.
@twenty90seven While your not wrong, I would also say the Steam Deck too because that showed you can make a portable without it needing it's own games for it to sell. A new PSP would need to be native to really take off, it would need to play PS4 games natively and stream PS5/6 games (can't see tech advancing enough for native PS5) It would also be a way to get a bigger foothold into the Japanese market with them far more into portable gaming. They could potentially do another Portal later on for a cheaper price as an option.
@Mr_B021 Sony clearly think the IP has potential in a different genre, plus Guerilla weren't exactly going to start a new IP three years after they just launched one.
@KillerBoy What do you expect them to do? Throw more money away and start from scratch on a single player game that will take the best part of 5 years at best?
I often wonder whether games like Final Fantasy XIV would exist in today's social media driven world with people quick to denounce anything that's multiplayer or live service.
There are people who legitimately liked Jin Sakai who would have loved to have seen his story continue so are naturally disappointed. And that's perfectly valid and there criticism shouldn't be dismissed. But let's make no mistake there are people online who are making bad faith arguments looking for any excuse to demonize anything that's seen as "DEI".
I've got an observation about the music. In GoT Jin played a Shakuhachi flute which is a wind instrument and the soundtrack was very wind instrument based. Now with Atsu playing a Shamisen in GoY, I notice that the soundtrack had a lot of string instrument sounds.
I had a quick Google search and the game is set 300 years after Tsushima and 1603 is a hugely important year because it's the very start of the Edo period in Japanese history.
@Nakatomi_Uk They have marketing deals to commit too plus release date announcements for things like Lego Horizon. These SoPs aren't exclusively for new game announcements.
It makes sense, if Sony have no intention of using the IP then it's easy money for them to license it if someone wants put up the development cost. Would love it if this opened the door to IPs like Tokyo Jungle, Puppeteer and Folklore to come back.
@cuttlefishjones Would take longer due to there been multiple games and will probably generate less profit since those IPs are much less popular then Horizon.
@get2sammyb It does make a bit of sense when you look at it this way.
An Horizon series was in the works till unforseen circumstances happened. So this would have been a product to sell next to it.
It's also an opportunity to give younger developers a chance on a bigger project rather then throwing them in at the deep end.
And it fills up gaps in their release schedules.
"Waste of resources" people really have become experts at how to run multiple games studios now. I guarantee that these remasters wouldn't make new games come any quicker. I mean we just had Astro Bot with Lego Horizon coming in November, so this idea that we're starved of new games has no merit.
It'll be interesting to see whether if it brings the graphics more in line with Forbidden West. Also Sony's remasters tended to add something extra on like Ghost of Tsushima had an expansion, Death Stranding had new items a new mission and a race track. While TLOU2 got a roguelike mode, so I wonder if HZD gets anything.
@MrGawain I can only think of maybe the odd s*** mentioned but Horizon is very tame even blood is barely shown.
@UntilRespawn A lot of us probably know who you mean. He often reminds us in nearly every Astro Bot article that he doesn't want anything to do with it.

Re: LittleBigPlanet 3 Will Be Taken Off PS Store on 31st October
@Americansamurai1 Not sure on that one but Sackboy was a step into a more 3D plain so maybe it could be a open world LBP game. We shall see.

Re: Sony's Live Service Push 'No Joke', A Lot of People Working on Horizon Online
@LifeGirl Because Sony have never really needed it. PlayStation's brand was built on variety from 3rd party games as well as there own studios.
