Sony are obviously looking at making some games for a younger demographic but sadly games like Sackboy a big adventure didn't sell and Astro's Playroom, while free has a very low completion percentage judging by the trophies which makes me worried that a full game will just not sell. So the best bet for Sony is take one of their biggest IPs and pair it with another popular brand...hence Lego.
I'd be shocked if more Xbox games weren't deep in development for PlayStation at this point. 343 Industries were already said to have PS5 dev kits so watch this space I guess.
@Godot25 Putting all their games on PC day one is asking for trouble, it hasn't helped Xbox and it won't help PlayStation. Sony just need to get the costs of there games under control.
Really intrigued by this one. Seems like it'll have a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe to it. And hopefully with ex Bungie Devs on the team, they can bring a high quality shooter without Destiny 2's bloat.
To my knowledge, this has never been done before in the industry, a platform holder...having two CEOs. I wonder if Sony looked at the overall business and felt that things needed tightening up a bit. With how many studios they have along with the platform business, I reckon they felt it was too much responsibility for one person to deal with.
It does now make Herman Hulst the definitive face of this era of PlayStation from the company side as I can't imagine Hideaki Nishino will be appearing in various SoPs, interviews and showcases outside of hardware announcements.
I'm also glad that someone like Herman Hulst who has a game development background has such a prominent position within the company.
"Sony has been happy to feature PC news during its conferences as of late, with Fairgame$, Marathon, and Helldivers 2 all sporting the phrase "coming to PS5 and PC" at the end of their trailers" I don't mind the live service day and date announcements but I'm not a fan of of Sony potentially wasting air time on a showcase to announce a PC only port...Sony's audience watch those shows expecting to hear only about PS5 releases. Save it for the PS Blog.
You lot never learn do you? Why would Housemarque randomly announce a game or even tease one outside a Sony event. Heck even the teaser yesterday made it look obvious it was a comic book if you actually spent 5 seconds looking at it.
That's great to see...I know it's been a lightning rod for rather strange discourses but nonetheless it's a new IP with a sizable budget behind it so it's good to see it off to a good start.
@CaptD We talking about the same Sony that have published Helldivers, Rise of the Ronin, MLB The Show 24 and just last week Stellar Blade?
VR ports I'd agree with.
VR mode would be immense but I would also love a Returnal spin off that's like Housemarque's old school arcade games. Would make for a good fillet game before their next big one.
So Cyberpunk's two biggest supporting characters now voice Sonic characters. There's a joke in there about how both Sonic film and Cyberpunk both needed fixing to come good.
I agree it's not needed, this isn't an RPG. Besides the stats aren't that important anyway. Arrowhead have said previously that you just pick what you want. Weapons and Stratagems are more vital.
It's rather sad because Rebirth is by far the best game Square Enix has made arguably since the Squaresoft days. Was really surprised that they were capable of making something as good as Rebirth.
It's a very meaty demo, wasn't expecting it to be as long as it was.
Graphics: Characters and enemies look great and well detailed. Environments are decent, nothing amazing but hardly bad either.
Combat: It's a weird mix of Sekiro's parrying with Star Wars Jedi's special abilities. Some have said about input delay but I wonder if that's improved through upgraded skills.
Boss fights: easily the best parts of the demo, I found it easier to read their attacks as well as making use of my beta abilities.
My only real criticism would be that I wish the UI stood out a bit more visually. I didn't check in the settings but I hope you can make the UI bigger too.
Also having to pick up resources is a bit of an odd choice, hopefully there's an upgrade later that does it automatically.
I respect that they wanted to encourage emergent gameplay but every time I see someone get randomly jumped on by a giant monster I just know I would find it annoying very quickly.
A Marvel, Overwatch style game could be pretty good and there aren't that many hero shooters out there...despite popular belief there's only really Team Fortress 2, OW and Valorant.
If PC players want to play a newly released action RPG that's well optimized, is fully featured and not a single MTX in sight...then I recommend Horizon Forbidden West.
I'm glad people are starting to point fingers at Geoff Keighley. He's one of the biggest spokesman in the industry but rarely if ever talks up about the layoffs, he allows himself to be too tied up in sponsors and publishers that shows like The Game Awards become 90% trailer reel then the actual show that's supposed to celebrate the actual developers.
Are people even playing the game properly at that point? Like who cares if it adds a few frames...just play it. There's too many people who judge a game on its resolution or frame rate that it's reducing the art form into just arbitrary numbers. Some of the greatest games of all time have technical problems but most don't care cos the games were great.

@AK4tywill Which sadly that's what happened with Starship troopers. The satire was so in your face and many still couldn't see the wood for the trees.
Re: GTA Publisher Claims It 'Didn't Shutter' Roll7, Intercept Games
If your going to close studios, at least have decency to own up to it.

Re: Rumour: LEGO Horizon Adventures Is Reportedly Real, a 'Realistic' Horizon Game But with LEGO
Hopefully this isn't the start of the showcase's lineup getting spoiled.
@americansamurai1 The remake might come this year, possibly the Lego one if it's a smaller game but the others are years away.

@Bentleyma I doubt it. Development would take a year or two longer to get things up to speed. It's why they decided not to use it for Rebirth.
