Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

Dudditz09

Ha PCs are too complicated. Trying to convince himself or the casual gamer?

Never mind, they really aren't difficult at all.

Do I prefer to plug in a console and play? Sure, but I like to tinker as well so a PC would be no problem to me, the additional cost isn't an issue, and if I'm laying down £700+ to game (and really it would be closer to £900 by the time we include a disk drive, stand and additional dual sense), it sure as hell won't be on a console where I am locked into an ecosystem and locked hardware.

If this is the price point where console gaming is heading towards for the next gen, I'll be taking my money and putting it into a PC where I can play what little I play online for free, where I can sink as much or a little as I want into it at any given time, where I have a multitude of store fronts and sites to purchase games, where I can take a mouse and keyboard for my strategy games, a control pad to play Forza, then maybe switch it up to Spiderman afterwards.

Yeah, consoles are more convenient to a point, but I think if this pricing is the way forward, it will have reached the point where the convenience just doesn't provide value for money for me.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

Dudditz09

Now that I have settled down, surely this now sets the tone for the pricing for the PS6.

And if that's the case, I'll switch fully over to PC, if I'm paying that sort of money for a console, which will have a mid gen refresh in 3/4 years, I'd rather up my budget and control my own upgrades.

Re: Soapbox: Astro's Playroom PS5 Did Live Service and You Didn't Even Notice

Dudditz09

See for me the best example of live service, done fairly well by Sony, is GT7, new cars, challenges, tracks etc.

To me that was live service done quite well, although it's been a while since I played, so maybe that's changed?

A game like Astros Playroom getting a wee update here and there after launch isn't even a stretch to claim it's live service, that's total nonsense, otherwise every game is live service.

Games that get patches for bugs fixes, optimisation etc, or small free content update (say akin to The Witcher 3 when they released a dozen or so freebies) are not live service.

Live service is an ever evolving game, whether f2p with battle passes etc, full priced and evolving like GT7 or Splatoon, or worse, full price with MTX like EAFC with Ultimate Team.

We as a community all know what live services is taken to mean, this article reminds me of that guy at a party who gets drunk and goes all devils advocate thinking he real smart.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About the PS5 Pro?

Dudditz09

It's a no from me, I'm not spending another penny on hardware from this gen, my next will be the PS6.

Gives me pause though. I buy a console for convenience, because I can drop a maybe say £1000 (roughly obviously) every 7/8 years and I'll have the latest offerings from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft (more this gen because I bought a Steam Deck).

If the gens are likely to be come less defined and the updates more iterative, then if I'm honest I will be more likely to drop consoles completely (possibly with the exception of Nintendo) and just go for a PC.

If I'm expected to spend more money more often to keep up with the requirements to play, I sure ain't doing it for a console, I'll control my own upgrades thank you.

Re: Devs Allegedly Pondering the Point of Sony's PS5 Pro Upgrade

Dudditz09

Won't be for me, I've bought the PS5, thats as far as I go for spending this gen (with Sony) for hardware. I'll keep my money for a PS6 or finally flit fully to PC.

As much as I love gaming and have have enough to spend on picking up consoles, I draw the line at dropping a load of cash on a mid gen refresh.

Re: Capcom Responds to Dragon's Dogma 2 Microtransaction, Performance Backlash

Dudditz09

I can honestly say I would probably never have known much about the MTX had it not been on blast all over the gaming media, that's how inconsequential they are. I don't agree with them, wished they hadn't done it, but it's not like a play to win type MTX so it's not impacted my game.

I don't think MTX are going away any time soon, so if I have to accept them then this is the sort I can grudgingly accept.

Performance is iffy and I'll be honest, I expected before starting that I would have to set it aside. I admit I can be a bit of a 60fps snob depending on the genre, and I expected I wouldn't be able to cope with this.

But it's so enjoyable I have been able to push past it to the point where I have managed to cope with the pop in npcs, frame drops etc.

Still, it would be good if they can't get some fixes in place for the stuttering and make it more stable overall.

Re: Poll: Which Xbox Franchises Would You Buy on PS5?

Dudditz09

Having also got/had XBoxes this isn't really a huge thing for me.

That said if I could keep it to just having a Playstation that would be super.

So if we could have Forza/Horizon, Fable, State of Decay and Fallout that would be perfect.

Never really got on with Halo or Gears of War, wasn't a fan of Sunset Overdrive...

But really, I don't see this as all that exciting.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Remastered Director Doesn't Get Fan 'Consternation' Surrounding Re-Release

Dudditz09

I dunno.

This one isn't for me anyway so I'm alway gonna have a view of it that it's not worth it (to me) regardless. I was a huge fan of the first, was bored to tears with the second.

But I don't think we need to be doing this for games that are less than 5 years old, even 10 years old.

Take the Resident Evil Remakes. Those I was willing to spend money on, a complete redo of the games, better controls, better graphics, changes here and there to bring them more in line with today standards.

Fantastic Remakes, (even though 3 is meh), worth the money.

This, even for £10, just isn't worth it to me.

I also don't like the definitive way to play arguement. I mean yeah, it's right, obviously, but they can easily trot this out when we hit the PS7 and we are on the 3rd remaster of TLOU 2... Only another £15 if you had the PS4, 5 and 6 version!
