This looks great but I’m way too into HFW to pick this up. Plus, it’s hard for me to find time for any Souls style game these days. I’ll probably wait for a good sale for this one, but I’m excited for those who are hyped about it.
@Sladey69 I’m in the same boat as you. I might have had one or two very small hiccups in the seven hours I’ve played, but it was a texture pop in. Other than that I’ve had no issues and am having a good time with the traversal.
@BritneyfR_ee climbing certainly isn’t as smooth as Uncharted, so I can see how you’d be struggling with it. I haven’t played Uncharted or a game with much climbing in a while, so it feels pretty good to me.
I’m 6.5 hours in and I’m loving it. I can’t vouch fir the story yet, but the combat (especially melee), traversal and characters all seem vastly improved from Zero Dawn. I adored Zero Dawn, so it’s truly impressive they managed to make it play better.
I don’t know the order I’d put them in but Persona 4 Golden, Child of Light, Killzone Mercenary, Final Fantasy X and Shovel Knight would probably round out my top five, likely in that order.
I couldn’t get over how good Killzone was as a FPS on a handheld. Even the multiplayer felt really good.
Like many, if not most, on here, Horizon Forbidden West and I’m absolutely loving it. They took all of the best things about the first one, tweaked all the weakest parts of it and added enough to make the game feel familiar but fresh.
I’m not bug on mini games like Gwent or things like that, but I’m a huge table top gaming fan and I really like Chess, so I might have to give this a try.
Guacamelee on Switch, I’ve tried to get into this game at least three other times and failed, but I’m loving it this time around. Also, Far Cry 6 to hold me over until Horizon.
Well, guess that gift card I got is being saved. There isn’t a single game on here that interests me that I haven’t already played. I really wish Song and MS would start surprising us with the games they put on sale instead of the same games over and over.
I just got a $50 PSN gift card today’s so that was great timing. I’m really hoping Chorus is in this sale, I’m already planning on getting it, but I wouldn’t argue to it being on sale.
Hellblade 2!was all I needed out of this. I adore Star Wars and was really excited until I realized it was a Quantic Dreams game, they have fantastic narratives but their games aren’t for me. I’ll stay reluctantly optimistic for it though.
If I didn’t already have a few games I’m playing through and Halo just a few days away I’d be picking this up, the gameplay looks fantastic. Also, since I just finished the book Cytonic I really want to play a space game that makes me feel like Spensa!
There was so much to love about this game, but I just couldn’t. The pieces just didn’t add up to the fantastic game I’d hoped it would. If they rebalance it in an update I might consider trying it again, but it was one of the most unbalanced games I’ve ever played.the map was also an atrocious mess.
@Reeneman I wasn’t sure about whether I’d like it or not leading up to it, but I decided to take the risk and grab it on release. I loved it. But there’s a couple of big caveats to that. First, I’ve seen complaints about it being more linear than you’d expect, which I agree with, but I actually liked that. Figuring out where people would be and when is the core of the gameplay and how you do that is fairly open, but when you go to kill the targets seems to be set in stone. Also, people complained about the run time saying it was too short. I played it for about 15-20 hours and I thought that was a good length, it didn’t over stay it’s welcome, but I felt I got my money’s worth from it. Finally, the ending has been a point of contention, I have no defense for this… it’s weird and isn’t great. If you can get past those few factors I highly recommend it. It was a lot of fun finding clues on how to kill everyone and when. Julianna made for a good change in tactics mid level. Also, getting better gear and figuring out my play style was a ton of fun. For the price, if any of that sounds interesting and you can get past what I said, it is well worth it, in my opinion. I hope that helps you decide one way or the other!
Deathloop is my GotY so far with Death’s Door very close behind it. Considering DD was a small indie team, I’d be willing to bump it above Deathloop just for what they managed to create. Congrats to all of the winners, I’m sure most of it was well deserved!
Death Stranding Director’s Cut on PS5, I bought last week and have really been enjoying it. I’m not much of a Kojima fan, but I’ll give him the credit on this one, it’s one of the most unique games I’ve ever played.
It looks awesome, but I just don’t have the time for Souls style games anymore. Maybe I’ll pick it up one day, but it’ll be a while. From Software hasn’t disappointed me yet.
No character progression on solo doesn’t give me the desire to jump into this anytime soon. I hate when games punish you for being someone who enjoys playing solo.
@Flaming_Kaiser I can understand that mindset. This is the problem with a rated score, you have your opinion, I have mine, Push Square has theirs, IGN has their own. There’s no set standard. I like that a lot of sites and reviewers have behind to move away from a score, let the review speak for itself and let the readers decide what they feel the score is. I don’t think there’s ever been a game that I can’t find something I’d change in it, but knowing that, I view 10 as something a little different than a 100% perfect game.
@Flaming_Kaiser I can’t say I agree with the idea that a game can only be a 10 if there’s absolutely nothing you’d change. A game can be a 10 for someone, but still have occasional flaws. Colin Moriarty says all the time that The Last of Us is the only perfect score he gave at IGN, but he’d change the fact that Ellie walks out in front of people when sneaking and it’s immersion breaking. I agree with that kind of sentiment. Nier Automata is my favorite game of all time and a 10 (for me), if I had the option to change 2B into an outfit that doesn’t constantly flash her butt and underwear I would, it’s unnecessary to me. Borderlands 2, which I know to most isn’t a 10, is a 10 to me, but there’s certain missions or areas I’m not too fond of, so I’d change them. I honestly think a game can be a 10 and considered a masterpiece even with having things we’d want to change.
This is my game of the year so far. It’s definitely a 9 for me, I know some people complain it’s too short and linear, but that’s actually something I love about it. The gameplay loop is a blast, the story is intriguing and the acting is great.

@Medic_Alert I’m pretty sure it was always intended as a PS4 game and PS5 was added later. They were talking about that on the latest Sacred Symbols.
