Wonder if they will wait with the PS5 Pro until near the release of GTA6 and also some of Sonys top studio developers to assist to get the most out of the PS5 Pro so it makes as much performance difference as possible and give PS5 Pro and great push start. Of course bundles etc as well.
I also think Nintendo have done an amazing job with the Hybrid Switch and that has definitely drawn a certain crowd in from UK, more than normal as Nintendo don’t normally do that well in the UK. I think with this and what I posted above all have an impact.
I think it’s more Europe, Germany and UK where PS5 is tracking lower than PS4. But I’m not surprised the UK £480 price tag won’t help, I think PS4 was about £290 at this time in life cycle. Also Europe, Germany and UK do enjoy FIFA and COD but also a very good big AAA campaign game from Sony studios and that has been quiet lately.
So I’m not surprised that it’s tracking under PS4 a little in Europe, Germany and UK.
@naruball Correct but after the PS3 I don’t think they meet expectations. So with the PS4 they where amazingly perfect. The PS4 overall is my favourite PlayStation.
It’s a shame really that all 3 are not in a very healthy condition. Yes Sony have competition from Nintendo and other forms of entertainment. But Sony are at their best when their backs are against the wall and they have to come out fighting. Currently they seem to be on a slow cruise first party big AAA games wise and still doing very well console sales wise and have kept a high cost of the console to buy.
I hope this doesn’t give them the impression they can continue like this, in slow relaxed Sony mode.
I think they could have done better overall but they made decisions about cross generation games and GAAS games which reduced big AAA game production and the prices to me are high in the UK for time in the consoles life cycle.
Don’t get me wrong had original PS5 Day one and now have a slim digital now, so I’m supporting.
And on a SONY side note have just got a new X95L mini led 65 TV. So they doing ok out of me.
Playing Rachet and Clank PS4 on PS5 a nice 60fps this time round. I’m missing something big AAA from Sony Studios, they best give it large next year 2025.
@Neither_scene I definitely think Sony studios will have no issues with PS5 to PS5 pro. Look at some of the PS4 to PS4 Pro stunning results and even PS4 to PS5 like HFW.
For some reason Sony developers and also Nintendo just have that thing that gets the best out of their own respective consoles. But for whatever reasons and maybe the ones I mentioned Xbox developers don’t with Series x.
It is spot on because it allows Sony Studios to focus on initial release and take advantage of the PS5 and release quality AAA, on time ish and bug free ish. This helps not stretch the developers having to make the game initially for multiple devices.
Imagine every Xbox developer making for series s and series x and PC and all other devices and cloud based to release all on day one. I rest my case.
I think this is the right way to release on PC. Mainly because when the game is originally developed the studio can focus on one console and make the best of that console and hopefully get the game out in time and bug free. Then later re-focus for the PC release.
That’s why Sony and Nintendo get the best out of their respective consoles and the studio get one main focus and good micro management with aims and goals.
Four years this November and not sniff from Naughty Dog, so disappointing Sony. We could have had a new Uncharted by now easily. Especially as they are supposed to have two big teams at that studio.
I’m thinking Starfield will be next. All those updates that are coming soon over on Xbox and then the dlc. It will be a re-release with new reviews when it comes to PS5. And sort of second chance for the game. Admittedly the updates coming etc seem to be making the game a lot better than on release.
I’m just hoping for some new big AAA games deserved of the title big AAA like in the old days, single player big campaigns. Released with very good performance and quality with no patches really required. From Sony or Nintendo or Xbox. Sorry all I just fell a sleep then and had an amazing dream.
@Casco Well I have sort of heard nothing but moans and groans about DD2 performance wise. This site and the internet were full of complaints. So to me that’s not good.
@DennisReynolds Depends what’s releasing then, but I can’t see any for the rest of this year. I don’t think Sony will be they sort of hinted that last year. I don’t think Xbox have that zing to do it. I don’t think Nintendo will this year unless they surprise us with switch 2. But I’m hoping there will be, finders crossed.
@DennisReynolds Different tastes I guess I have rise of the ronin and enjoying but it’s no big AAA. I think more top notch. God of war, last of us 2, Mario Odyssey, tears of the kingdom. Very top end AAA the best that gaming can offer.
Not games that are less than those games and get released sub par and some with technical issues.
Waste of resource as most of these things are on all consoles. Why we all sit here for years waiting for some new big top quality AAA games to appear. This has be the lowest year of gaming I can ever remember
@Rich33 Ronin is very paint by numbers open world more or less, but I enjoy that sometimes and the exploring and open world. The combat seems solid for me and I can lower the difficulty level.
I played the demo of Stella and didn’t click with it overall, it’s probably what Bayonetta 3 should have been. So I won’t purchase and stick with me Ronin for now.
@Rich33 That’s good to hear it keeps things in check and runs well. I find rise of the ronin similar, not great graphically but runs well for me and smooth with good panning no blur at 60fps VRR on.
I think two games that definitely have the best of both worlds at 60fps VRR and very good graphics wise is burning shores HFW and Spider-Man 2. But they are developed by Sony studios teams totally focused on the PS5 and have all the special tricks of PS5 development and big teams doing a fantastic job and shared studio knowledge.
@NEStalgia I wonder if this will be a down fall for games consoles. The series consoles are not selling well at all. The PS5 is about 4.5 million down in Europe, same time line as PS4. And to make it worse they are charging high prices for consoles and games. For example, PS5 in UK now £480 PS4 at same time line was reduced to £300 permanently RRP.
@Terra_Custodes Yeah, I’m not sure what has happened with developers and this new generation. Sort of started ok but has gone wrong now in my opinion. Chasing the wrong things. Releasing games that are far better 6 months to one year later with patches. Taking ages to release games, then badly optimised etc. It’s like the whole performance of development of games as gone from about a 9/10 to a 6/10 with a need desperately to pay more attention to quality overall and micro manage development better.
@Terra_Custodes I totally agree, on many PS5 exclusive games like HFW I tried 40fps, ok a bit better than 30fps but nowhere near as good as full 60fps. HFW etc at full 60FPS VRR on, zero motion blur setting, looks so clean when panning around and smooth. Nothing else will do for me now.
Avatar in performance mode on both consoles running at 60fps is a blurred mess when panning round even with the settings correct and a top a top end VRR etc TV. It’s sort of spoils it for me a bit and is totally the programme codes and tricks they use fault.
Other games at 60fps on both consoles exclusive or third party look so much cleaner when panning using 60fps, god knows why Avatar can’t. At 30fps it is a very bad mess.
For a good few years now I have had TVs with VRR support, top end TVs. Started with the Xbox one x mainly. And now with this generation I could recommend VRR tv even more. It so helps with frame rate variability and smooth gameplay, seems to remove any previous screen tearing. VRR is great to have.
How about some big campaign big AAA games before April 2025 for the PS5 which hasn’t really been pushed to the max by Sonys in house developers. Don’t play online HD2 and last of us part 2 I don’t count as of course done on PS4 pro. So far for me Rise of the Ronin. That’s not just on PS5 but across all three consoles for me.
A bit late to the party, but Rise of Ronin. So enjoy open world games, do what I want and when etc. Really enjoying the game so far and exploring all the areas etc. performance mode on, motion blur off, VRR on. Plays smooth and perfect on me 65” Samsung, not a single issue so far.
Was thinking of getting a Sony OLED or mini LED TV but gaming wise both TVs are really restricted on what you can adjust in game mode or make little difference. As where LG and Samsung let adjust everything up or down to the maximum. You would think the makers of PS5 would make their TVs more gamer friendly etc.
Totally agree I don’t play without a 60fps performance mode. Playing 30fps and panning around is a horrible mushed up jarring mess when compared to 60fps. I don’t think I can ever go back to 30fps. And that’s on a top end VRR 120hz tv with PS5 or series x. Yes when motion is dead still at a stop then the 30fps with higher resolution can look a bit sharper, but all video games move. I could not play HFW,GOW,R&C etc or rise of ronin in any other way but in performance mode.
Higher the frame rate fair better visuals for me. There is less smudge and smear as you pan around in a game, say like HFW. It’s also smoother and far better just to look at.
As well as 60fps, I must say the 40fps on a 120hz tv is also good.
I have begun really not to like bog standard 30fps and think it looks absolutely rubbish.
@Pranwell Also yes reference quality material totally. But normal even 4K tv isn’t that and this generation of consoles definitely are not with more upscaling tricks than a magician.
@Pranwell So you think with the massive price of the A95L they would give you four HDMI 2:1 ports amd the capability to have VRR with Dolby Vision. Yes I agree it’s picture and motion are the best but the price is staggering and not really worth it.
@Rich33 Think you are correct there. Not sure why Sony don’t add it at the hardware level. But Sony are always quirky with things like that with their top TVs, when you can’t have VRR with Dolby vision and only 2 HDMI 2:1 socket, which one of is earc as well. When LG and Samsung give you 4 HDMI 2:1 with absolutely everything possible all at once. Probably one of the reasons Sony went from king of TVs to about 5th nowadays. They are such a quirky company like that.
I think it’s deliberate marketing strategy and also being tight.
@zebric21 Yes the HDMI bandwidth of the PS5 is less than Series x bandwidth, but I don’t know if that is the limiting factor. 32 for PS5, 40 for series x. So that probably is it as 40 goes into 120 by 3. Well pointed out.
@Pranwell If Sony had bothered to have VRR LFC like the series x and with a 120hz tv you would see it plays smoother and cuts out the dips. Sony should implement LFC low frame-rate compensation into the PS5 I’m sure it could do it. It’s always the same with Sony in the electronics world, always leaving something out or cutting short of what something should be.
@HonestHick Yes both Nintendo and Sony need to ramp up a bit from their own studios, there is nothing like their big AAA single player games. Xbox for me used to have a good few as well, Halo and gears of war for definite. Even Halo Infinite I really enjoyed campaign wise. They just didn’t give enough for over six years work and a new generation console and also spread 343 far to thinly on the project. Microsoft need a big slap for that 😂
@Tomato_Goose Yes I have heard this as well, dam developers need to sort themselves out. I haven’t purchased the game because of this, so they won’t get my money, until they optimise better and sort other bugs and options out.
My new approach for a while now has developers can’t release game in a good state. Is wait until it’s fixed with patches and buy cheap and probably second hand, then they still don’t get my money. I know I’m only one person but they need to be brought to justice.
@HonestHick Well Xbox could have a good end of year if Avowed and Indy are top notch, but with all developers at the minute you never know what you might get at the end of the day. Yes the PS5 is very quiet for me this year and I thought last year was bad for me on PS5.
I fancy Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid prime 2 remasters for 2024, let’s see what happens, Maybe even twilight princess as I fancy that game at the minute.

Nice, no more pointless remasters would be a good start. Unless they are a very very old games remade, at a push.
Basically I have a PS5 for your big end AAA campaign exclusives just like I had all my other PlayStations for.
Now get you heads out your arses cut with the PR chat and get producing, else’s being harsh, what is the point of PlayStation for me.

Re: Sony Takes Down PS5 Pro YouTube Leak, Suggesting It's All Legit
Would help if they release the PS5 Pro this year if they had big AAA campaign game along side it, to show it off with. I.e Uncharted 5 or whatever.
Without a big shinny new game to show off the PS5 Pro power we will just get lumbered with slightly upgraded games.
There was a rumour of a delay until 2025 so they had a game to show and sell with it.
Re: Fresh PS5 Pro Report Reiterates Sony Demands for Upgraded Games
For a good few years now I have had TVs with VRR support, top end TVs.
Started with the Xbox one x mainly.

VRR is great to have.

A bit late to the party, but Rise of Ronin.
