@Titntin Sorry it is final fantasy VII REBIRTH that I’m doing this testing on. Either I’m going blind or all this is a load of old Mumbo Jumbo. I have now also tried on a Samsung S90C 65”. The same results. Hardly any difference between 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps in terms of standing still looking closely at objects apart from a very slight sharpness uptick. I can’t even see the smudged image that DF get and I have tried to replicate this with the field and yellow flowers example they did. Maybe it’s the TVs I use top end of the respective makes. I mean even when you watch a 1080p film on them, there is hardly any difference between that and a 4K movie using physical discs. These new TVs do have amazing upscales in them and they both advertise that as special feature and a selling point and reviews do praise both the TVs upscaling abilities. Just a think a top TV doing the job of upscaling amazingly. Any comments welcome please 😊
@Titntin As you know I have preordered a PS5 Pro but now having second thoughts. So I’m reaching out to your knowledge. Ok my set up Sony X95L 65” TV. Good 4K sitting distance from the TV. game mode and VRR on and best settings adjusted accordingly.
Playing final fantasy VII remake the game that DF have done a lot of PS5 Pro analysis on.
I play the game in 60fps performance mode, resolution I think is about 1080p at 60fps.
I thought hang on the 30fps mode runs at a 4K resolution most of the time but dynamic, but according to DF 4K most of the time.
So I started getting close to objects standing still zoom in close to get a say a plant or box or character big on the screen.
I kept switch from performance 1080p to quality 4K. I am baffled apart from a tiny bit of sharper image there is next to no differences and I really tried hard.
So if the PS5 Pro is going to run the game using PSSR to 4K and I can’t hardly tell any difference between the 1080p and 4K on the PS5 what is the PS5 Pro giving me.
Is it my tv, I know Sony TV upscaling and motion is the best in the business, is that making the 1080p better than it should be as it is also a Sony TV with a Sony PS5.
Taken the plunge and preordered PS5 Pro. On the PlayStation direct store UK. They use DPD delivery service and have ordered stuff before, excellent delivery service and free delivery on PS Direct.
Of course it is two main factors. 1 more PS5 consoles sold on the market. 2 The only Sony Studio game released this year and also probably until around may ish 2025.
@zebric21 I think developers could do a lot more optimisation with their games to get there.
Trouble is it takes some experience and time especially if the game is multiplatform.
I expect Sony could get the closest as they develop only for the PS5 consoles.
Unlike Xbox developers do multiplatform and PC etc. That’s why they will never get the best out of the series x console. Would love them to make a game just for series x only to see what the console can really do.
I did think the Pro would have started with a higher base resolution maybe 1800p then upscaled. And still be able to maintain the 60fps. I mean this an old a game . Maybe the new Sony games will.
@zebric21 I have a new top end Sony TV and I get your point. They upscale so well. I did certain settings for my Switch and the motion and upscaling make it look like Switch 1.5.
@GamingFan4Lyf I have no war with consoles, have had every Xbox console day one. Mine is just the simple logic below that works for me.
I totally agree with you sell on as many devices as they can, it seems that’s what they wish to do. But always remember they need to make great games to sell them. Of course we know COD and Minecraft do well. But they need to start making amazing games if they want to sell the others on other devices. Apart from Forza Horizon this generation I can’t think of another Xbox studio game I would buy. I tried Redfall, Forza and Starfield on GPU and they are worth zero to me. If Indy is like those games I won’t buy it. If it is top AAA then I will get it on PS5. That is why GPU is not worth it to me or an Xbox console now. Not enough great games from Xbox studios and if they actually manage to make an amazing game say Indy or Doom or fable then I buy for PS5. I then get the best of all worlds and probably the best versions on PS5 Pro.

@HonestHick Lots of great games coming up all being well. Will be interesting to see what Xbox does next. I’m still not totally convinced we will see another one or what it will be, time will tell.
Anyway good news on my slow internet. Went to a 5G no line router and I’m getting about 200mb/sec. So all happy now. No more 6mb/sec.
@ORO_ERICIUS In the UK the white series x discless £430 Still more than the discless PS5 slim at £390. Not sure what they think they will achieve with this strategy. I think their departments are too big and management may have lost the way. We know interdepartmentally communication is not great.
@ORO_ERICIUS Well that’s obviously. The developers need a return on their investment. And Xbox with a low user base and uptake on buying new games from other developers, the developer may not make a profit when putting the game on Xbox consoles. It’s simple business investment over return on investment. Duck knows why Phil has to ask them that. Anyway I left Xbox yesterday, got £300 for series x, can’t be bothered with them anymore. If they actually manage to produce a great AAA, maybe Indy or Doom, then I will buy it for PS5 Pro and get the best version.

Did you ever have a Neo Geo?
The money I spent on that things games 🤣
Guess more expense next year for Switch 2 as well.

You going spending mad over at yours.
Ordered mine from PS Direct as well.

Re: Forget Sonic, SEGA's Classic Arcade Shinobi Series Headed for Hollywood
Well that is all a bit low key with PS5 Pro preorders for general stores release today in the UK.
For those that wish Argos UK have preorders up.
Can’t see anything for Game UK or Smyths Toys.
Though Smyths Toys last week told me they not sure they even getting any yet, waiting to here from Sony.

Said it before on here and pure Xbox.
Nothing beats native 4K.
Play a game in native 4K and it looks pristine.
But I’m told that to get native 4K @ 60fps on modern games with high LOD and flashy stuff, would make an extremely expensive PC worth thousands.
Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video
@Pranwell
I went with the Sony X95L 65” mini led. but considering the A95L 65”. Hopefully a price reduction this Black Friday.
Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video
@zhoont
HFW even on PS5 takes a native 1800p then checkerboard upscales and hit 60fps.
And it does look amazingly good.
Not sure why they are starting at 1440p with last of us 2.
Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video
I did think the Pro would have started with a higher base resolution maybe 1800p then upscaled. And still be able to maintain the 60fps.
I mean this an old a game .
Maybe the new Sony games will.
Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video

Well if you spend millions making games like Avatar and SW outlaws and some how don’t make them top AAA games then what do you expect.
You reap what you sow, it’s as simple as that.
Basically terrible manufacturing process leading to poor games.

At the end of the day if Microsoft want to sell games on other devices including PS5 and PS5 Pro they need to make them worth buying.
Publishing games is a massive but extremely competitive market.
It’s no good Microsoft going in half arsed and getting nowhere what’s the point.
If they go in half arsed then that idea/project will fail and Xbox will another disappointment on their hands.

I think most big games and companies did PS4 Pro enhanced version.
Guess it’s on a game by game basis.

Yep that is the most annoying penny pinching thing with Sony TVs only 2 HDMI 2:1 ports and one of them is the earc.
It’s like they only want you to have one console.
Also even in the HDMI 2:1 they don’t allow all features on at once.
Like you can’t have Dolby Vision and VRR on together.
With all that effort that goes into great upscaling and motion, they then do stupid things.

I will see one thing for Sony their top end TVs upscaling and motion processing is second to none. And I have a good few top end TVs.
I now have the X95L 65” and never looked back.

Gaming as a whole though is starting to ruin itself and it’s showing in the numbers.

Last generation 5 of us day one PS4 Pro.
