Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Like a Dragon Gaiden?

RBMango

I'd say a 7/10. The writing, acting, graphics, music, and combat are top-notch. However, I was really disappointed with the sidestories, how they were structured, and how the campaign forces you to engage in the tedious Akame Network quests in order to progress in some areas. After playing it, it's obvious this was planned DLC retrofitted to be a standalone game.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

7/10 for me. Maybe a 6.5 if I could vote that. I don't have a single sentence that succinctly summarizes my thoughts. Outside of Miles Morales, I guess I'll have to live with the fact that Insomniac's games don't wow me anymore. I'm still waiting for a PlayStation exclusive this gen to blow me away like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II, and Astro's Playroom did.

Re: Spider-Man 2 Is Already Doing an Amazing Job of Keeping People Playing on PS5

Got the platinum today as well. I'm not going to lie: I found the overall game kind of disappointing. The underwhelming main story with the frustrating stop-and-start pacing, the stupid parry mechanic screwing with the already sloppy combat, and the annoying appearances of modern PlayStation-isms and game design pet peeves of mine soured quite a bit of the game for me. I wish Insomniac's game design and writing matched the brilliance of their amazing tech.

EDIT: Despite my major criticisms, I do like the game overall. It's a decent experience, but it doesn't have the staying power of other exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal, and God of War: Ragnarok, in my opinion.

Re: Jim Ryan Retires as PlayStation Boss in March 2024

I can't say I'll miss the guy, but he was amazing from a money-making standpoint. I won't take that away from him. Also, I know people in my social circle will celebrate this, but I refuse to pop bottles until I know who the next CEO will be. Hopefully, it's someone at the company who actually plays video games and sees the value in smaller, art-style-driven games.

Re: Indie Hit Stray to Be Adapted into an Animated Movie

I adore Stray, but what I got out of it the most was the interactivity of exploring every nook and cranny of its small cities. Take that away and it's kinda just....eh.

Plus, I REALLY doubt they're going to stay true to the game by not having any voiced dialogue beyond the robot language, so I expect the robots to have cutesy quips just so the kiddies won't get bored.
