@Ysobad Your misconception on how the rich spend their money is hilarious, they don't go out and buy overpriced consoles. They don't buy the latest iPhone every year, they look for value which you've confused with being poor and shows some naivety about you.
It won't sell well, Sony thought Concorde would do well... they thought the PSVR2 headset would do well at its high price point, they thought the PS3 would sell well at its original price point.
PlayStation and high price tags have never equalled a success in sales. The PS5 Pro will be no different, even more so when it offers nothing over the standard system that makes it justify its price tag.
@Pranwell You can be in denial all you like, go outside of this site onto social media though and everywhere the new PS5 Pro is mentioned, so is the price and why no one will buy it. But spend the money, have fun, you’ll be a rarity that’s for sure in owning one.
Looking across social media, not ONE person has said they’ll be buying this, only people on here have said they will. Everyone complaining about the ridiculous price and the fact you couldn’t really tell any difference in the games they showed running on it. It isn’t looking too good for Sony I have to say, they may have priced themselves out of the market with this one.
Stating it’s an absurd overpriced piece of equipment is as much a fact as stating the sun will rise tomorrow and it gets dark at night. I hope they only make it in the thousands as that’s all they will sell!
What is worst is it doesn’t even seem to do anything to justify anywhere near its price. Exact same CPU, slightly better GPU, and in the comparison videos it was very hard to tell it was doing anything to make the games look better.
My biggest concern is that Sony price the PS6 at a ridiculous price point like £650 or above.
I stated you would be a fool to think it would be priced below £600, with a couple of replies telling me I was wrong, but I didn’t expect it to cost £700 WITHOUT a disk drive or stand even, nothing extra at all.
Are we going to be talking £1000 for the PS6? Xbox is no where now, and the Switch despite being the same thing targeted at the same market, is seen as different. So Sony are doing what they like and pricing things as such.
But I do think it will face competition from PC's but also the new PC handheld market.
@CKFilms Yeap, and you wait many believe Nintendo will reveal the Switch 2 this month, and it could cost say 350 to 400 max. That's the one I'm excited for. I've got my far PS5 disk and might not bother with a PS6 to be honest. Sony just releasing overpriced underpowered (for the money) mid gen refreshes.
It has 2 terabytes? Why? WHY? Seriously, what idiot at Sony thought it a good idea to make it MORE expensive by doubling the storage?
Seriously you are not going to persuade people to buy more digital games by pricing it so high! They seriously should have left that extra terabyte, oh and left WiFi 7 OUT and slashed the price by a hundred or more.
Sony, what the hell are you doing? I dread to think how much they'll charge for the PS6 now, they've gone back to their PS3 launch days...
As I said, if you thought it was going to be below £600 you are DELUDED! Have fun paying that £700 price tag for some 'slight' graphics improvements and 60fps in 'most' games 😂🤣😂🤣
So looking forward to laughing when they announce the ridiculous pricing for it.. anyone thinking it'll be below £600 is delusional IMO considering they've INCREASED the PS5 price, twice.
And it'll give devs another excuse not to bother optimising games properly to run in the current hardware.
I'm much looking forward to the Switch 2 as DLSS has proved itself to be vastly superior to anything AMD has come up with lately.
@Decoy_Snake Exactly. Sony have PLENTY of IP, all they need to do is make games from them! I mean people have been crying out for Resistance and SOCOM games but no we haven't had anything for ages. Sony seems reluctant to make any FOS action games and instead is obsessed with the over the shoulder story games. They can get a bit tiresome after a while so some Sony IP FPS games would be nice.
@Shadcai Now that is an interesting one, that game runs on the Steam Deck very well, but Xbox don't have it??.. If I recall devs said Xbox changed all their tools for this new gen and they aren't as matured hence it can delay games coming to the platform. Don't know if that's still the case though, but I wouldn't have thought it was down to lack of power in the Series S?
Yeah right sure it is.. that's what they want to have you believe whilst they accuse Sony of paying for exclusivity, which they have never advertised and came from some random games journalist originally. Sony and MS are ad bad as each other lately.
@StrickenBiged I’ve seen it with films too, if you follow that particular route, you’ll realise the market for this path is not very big at all, just very loud but they don’t buy your games or watch your films, and the majority who do do that will now boycott you.
@NEStalgia I totally agree, and Sony are going down a path that will lead to their demise, they cannot survive without the PlayStation income, yet they seem to be royally screwing it all up.
A Pro console rumoured with an extremely high price tag, and games no one wants to play for ‘reasons’.
They will now be facing a new Nintendo console hardware and the explosion in PC gaming handhelds, unless they get some huge single player AAA games out like they are know for they will be on very rocky ground.
I was going to buy this, didn't pre-order though thank God. I waited for the reviews and now, well maybe I'll get it once it's on very cheap sale and it's had several patches. Shame.
@Kalime78 no one knows when the Switch 2 will be actually on sale. But a renowned leaker who has predicted every single event they've held this month, and is the ONLY person to have done so. Including this week which Nintendo has never done before, is doing it to move up the release and launch schedule of the Switch 2 and it will be officially announced next month. It is at this stage as confirmed as this PS5 Pro launching next month is.
Oh and the Switch was announced officially in its reveal trailer in October and was on sale the following March / April.
Rumours are suggesting a 500 to 600 dollar price tag, that's DOA if it is! Plus Nintendo are heavily rumoured to be unveiling the Switch successor in the next 3 weeks, so Sony will be all the luck in the universe to get any PS5 Pro sales that price against a competing platform. Higher FPS isn't going to do it alone. When they ua t got anywhere near the limits of the current hardware..
Meanwhile Nintendo has got the Switch so good it's running games like Hogwarts on handheld tech that's nearly a decade old!
If it exists, I actually don’t see it selling well. The PS5’s power hasn’t been fully utilised as it is. Why bother with brute forcing games to try and run better? Devs should be optimising more instead. Plus unless they do a significant PS5 price drop, it’ll be one heck of an expensive console.
The fact the Steam Deck has sold several million is massive in the first place! Before it came along, the PC console handhelds from the likes of Aya Neo or GPD were only selling in the thousands! Valve has literally thrown a hand grenade into the marketplace!
And they have the money as do Asus and Lenovo to make refresh new models regularly. But these handhelds already have a humongous games collection, HUGE collection readily available to run on them.
Sony is a different platform, it doesn’t have the scope to build a dedicated handheld system and entice enough developers for it. But its remote play has been pretty darn reliable and good for a while now, it was genius to make the Portal, as it proved people love having a dedicated handheld, and it’s cheap enough to be presented as a gift.
It’s gathered quite the following now, like the Steam Deck and other PC handhelds.
Nintendo had had the biggest success though for sure, but, to make the Switch a success it overhauled its entire business, and scrapped any dedicated home or portable console departments, they don’t exist now and they are all in on the one device. And it was a genius device that is just so seem less going from handheld to desktop mode. It’s such a successful model it’s why the next console is just continuing the platform. Not reinvent ting the wheel.
I think Sony should stick to their guns, the PS5 is more powerful than these handhelds for now, and it offers the console plug and play experience. It should just release an updated Portal if anything, with better WiFi and an OLED maybe, so long as it doesn’t increase that price point as it’s been key to its success. But its owners just want that continued plug and play experience on the road of the better more powerful hardware. No cloud involved either.
Since the Switch handheld gaming has had quite the revolution, and it’s only set to continue. But like Nintendo, I do not believe Sony has the resources for two dedicated teams, one for handheld and one for home console, so like Nintendo stick to the current formula as it’s working well. It’s simple to use your hardware teams to design a handheld remote play device, it’s much harder to then make a dedicated handheld and support it with software like a home console.
I think the way Sony are handling it all is fine. Put their big games onto, PSN after a year or so. But they need to boost the games on their trial system as I’ve used them loads to see if I like a game. People may say but they are paid demos, well yeah in a way, but we’ve not really has game demos like you got it PS1 or PS2 for years and years now. To me Trials is a brilliant feature. And with Microsoft making cut after cut after cut in staff and increasing the price of Game Pass multiple times it’s good Sony hasn’t copied them.
Game Pass is just too much, you seriously need a LOT of free time to make the most of it.
Get the team behind Twisted Metal to make it, that's a good show that one. I enjoyed it anyway. Also move away from Netflix they have a lot of misses as well as hits.
God Of War Ragnarok, picked it up second hand last weekend, never played it. I find the kid damn annoying as is the game practically telling you what to do lol. But smashing monsters with blades on chains never gets old, stunning looking game too.
Agree with the top spot but not the second one, think that should be third of fourth. I’d bloody love a new one exclusive to PS5 though….
I think the puzzles and set pieces were brilliant in The Lost Legacy.
I would really really really really like a new Uncharted console game, and I’d love them to make a mobile Uncharted game too, if the Vita could run on so can a phone.
For me Uncharted is better then The Last Of Us, part 2 especially.
