I read a few comments about having a PS handheld dock to a TV. For those who have a SteamDeck, did you get one to replace your PC or as an alternative way to play your steam games?
For me it's an alternative. Similar to what I'd want from this product. A premium extra device that's part of the PS ecosystem.
@riceNpea locally is the keyword. No Internet connection required to play your games. I can't bring my portal on a train, plane, or even some hotels because it's so dependent on the Internet connection.
We don't need a dedicated console to make games for, just a device to play our library of games locally on the go.
I'm sure they can make something and sell it for less than PSVR2 and then you don't have to support it with software. That's what was a good selling point for the SteamDeck. It's your current Steam Library on go. Just give me the PlayStation version of that.
I have not played Inquisition. Is it worth checking out before Veilguard? Does it hold up still? Better to play on PC instead of Playstation at this point?
@thefourfoldroot1 Well it kind of does. If Sony makes 100 discs of Spider-Man 2, and sells only 22 of them brand new, then the same 22 are being bought and sold over and over again. Maybe 10 of that 22 are never traded in. I'm sure they have some formula to know what percentage of their games are bought used. The percentage is still low enough, IMO, to do away with the disc drive.
At launch MS had a two tier option for hardware. The entry level into the new Xbox ecosystem was lower than that of a PS5. Sony, yes, had two models, but it had the same specs minus the disc drive.
Fast forward 5 years, the Series S is holding back the Series X severely since they need to be treated as one console. Lesson learned.
Anyone having issues with using the touchscreen for the touchpad button? The overlay lights up but takes several taps for it to recognize the button press. I would say the touchscreen is broken on mine, but it works very well for when I'm in the Portal's menu.
@sanderson72 ESO has always tempted me. Worth trying? Is it an MMO "light" like Destiny or more like a FF14?
I enjoy Destiny a lot. It was easy to get into and wasn't always necessary to be in a party to enjoy it. As for FF14, I found it very overwhelming when I tried it, definitely leans more into what I know of MMOs, which aren't as much my thing.
@rjejr it's a lot easier to make NYC for Spider-Man 2 when it was 70-80% made from two previous games. Rebirth has more newly built environments from the ground up with essentially new gameplay engines from the games expanded scale.
Agreed that a lot of this games flaws are similar to FF16's, which I thought was fantastic.
My expectations were so low for Remake because it was hard to imagine Square pulling it off taking into account their large titles leading up to release. They pulled it off.
For Rebirth, I expected more of the same of what Remake did, which sounds like it is. I'm not here for a groundbreaking, genre defining, game of the year title.
I want a solid gaming experience with the characters I know and love, that soundtrack, those big story moments, and continue to expand on the foundation FF7 left. Day 1 for me.
Could this be a product of there being too many games? Not every game can be a huge hit, so for any studio that has a flop, there is going to be layoffs and studio closings.
I'm hoping this isn't too on the nose with referencing JRPGs of the era it's influenced by. I started Chained Echoes, and while I was enjoying the gameplay, the game straight copied some set pieces and had too many wink/nod moments to CT for my liking. Locations that looked like Magus' Castle Boss Fight or Zenan Bridge. Just give me something original and new to experience.
Tough to give a game a 10 when it is just a better version of GoW (2018). It didn't redo GoW like 2018's did. Same gameplay and then some in the sequel. More world building, more story, but it doesn't reinvent the wheel like the previous. The jump between the two isn't far enough apart for me to put one over the other.
After just finishing RE1 for the first time, I was about to jump into RE2, but Cyberpunk dropped that patch, so I jumped into that instead. The gaming gods have saved me again!!!
@ShogunRok People forget Witcher and Skyrim had UI overhauls later in it's life cycle. The foundation is clearly there with Cyberpunk. Now with it being more accessible in it's intended form, I'm excited for what CDPR has planned for it in the months/years to come.
@ShogunRok Might be more similar to the kind of patchwork and mods on the PC version. Maybe closer to FFXII Zodiac Age. More of a bump up in quality plus some new bells and whistles than simply a "HD port"
Similar to the Mojang acquisition. You don't let some of the yearly top selling games become isolated on Xbox. Included with Game Pass here, $70 there. Cash in on both sides while also pushing the benefits of Game Pass. Not shocking news
I hope they rebuilt or improved on that game engine. I played a handful of the telltale games on ps4/pro and I had game crashes often. Which for a primarily cinematic, laid back, passive game was strange.
The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands were easily the best two though. I would definitely consider getting this right away if they are done with episodic releases.
Now yes Guerilla and Insomniac have made shooters in the past, but this definitely fills Playstation's void for a premiere FPS studio. The talent coming over can move off Destiny and maybe develop the next Resistance, Killzone, new IP, etc. Let Bungie do what they want to do.
