Can you guess what some of my favourite games ever are based on my avatar? Yeah, day 0 purchases and with Remedy at the helm I’m confident they will be a blast to play. Can’t wait!
Played it for 2 hours via xCloud. It’s Stalker alright. Janky, subpar animation, flat English dubbing, weak gunplay. It plays very well on xCloud but I doubt I will bother playing it. A letdown so far.
@Rich33 I may be biased because CP2077 is my favourite game of all time (huge cyberpunk and sci fi fan here). I’ve been gravitating towards cloud gaming heavily recently and CP2077 looks gorgeous streamed via Geforce Now with all the bells and whistles enabled (except Path Tracing). I suppose CDPR is big enough not to care about the launch issues of their games (Witcher 3 was also bugged at launch). Witcher 4 is bound to be a huge success so they probably just decided to focus on that instead.
@Rich33 They don’t need to ingratiate themselves with Sony. They’ve done more than enough to make up for the fiasco that was the PS4/Xb1 version of this game. Runs and looks great on PS5 base and I think even the Pro would have difficulty running this game in 1440p/high/ultra/60 with RTX on ultra (giving the PS faithful more reasons to complain).
Finally. Sony following in MS footsteps with streaming. Now make it possible to stream those games via an app and I can stop buying hardware altogether. Already using xCloud and Geforce Now more than my consoles, so yeah.
@ChimpMasta
I had a gaming PC two years ago with an RTX 3070 so I know it can work if done correctly. That said, I still experienced blurriness, artifacts and the frame gen to me feels fake (you can easily tell these frames are just an illusion, so to speak). Played CP2077 and Stafield using both DLSS and frame gen and in both cases the image quality was good, but I still found the native versions to look superior.
@zebric21
Came here to say this. These are typical upscaling issues that we are told to accept because devs keep pushing for higher resolutions instead of optimising at a lower res, while focusing on the fun/content. Not a fan of upscaling at all.
I think you forgot his rather noticeable involvement in the Max Payne series. That said, I love Remedy and all their franchises/games. I’ve yet to play Alan Wake 2 and keep hearing great things. I might get it in the Christmas sale, though.
On PS5: Yup, still Horizon FW.Doing all the side quests so I can stay in this world as long as I can. Absolutely loving every second of it! On xCloud: finished BO6 campaign which I liked a lot. Now jumping between Forza Motorsport and Horizon 5 while waiting for Stalker 2 to drop. Have a good weekend everyone!
I don’t play platforms. I play games. Some people here really wish for Xbox to die, which is really sad. Sony is already pulling some major BS this gen and they need someone to keep them in check. Just for clarity and to counter those gloomy forecasts for Xbox: I mostly game on PS5, but I also game on xCloud a lot and I’m currently enjoying the hell out of Black Ops 6 that way. I’m using the Amazon Fire Tv 4K stick for xCloud and it’s working great for me. Once Xbox lets me stream the games I own (already in the testing phase) I won’t need an Xbox, ever. I hope Sony makes the same possible for Playstation games at some point.
Glad I’m not the only one turned off by Push Square’s suffocating amount of articles and gushing over the Pro. I get it, it’s new hardware, but it will still sell less than 50% of the base console. Let’s not pretend it’s going to take the world by storm.
HFW is already the best looking game I’ve ever played on the base PS5. Can’t imagine it looking any better (I’m playing it on a 4K OLED monitor and with HDR enabled).
Another vote for Astro Bot. This type of game comes along once in a blue moon and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who hates it. Such games should be celebrated and promoted.
Good thing if true. I know my gaming monitor has VRR and this makes it possible (via PS5 settings) to apply VRR to games that don’t officially support it. Haven’t tested it properly, but I get the impression in some games it does actually improve the smoothness of gameplay.
@breakneck Yeah, I guess some people didn’t like the game as much as Zero Dawn (and hated Burning Shores) but it seems it’s the same with any game that launches these days (the new Dragon Age being the most recent example). I love this franchise, the universe and Decima Engine is just leagues better than UE4/5. All this coming from someone who hates most open world games lol.
Still Horizon Forbidden West. I’m enjoying it immensely and personally feel it’s better than Zero Dawn in every possible way. As it should be with it being a sequel (still love Zero Dawn and the universe in general). Also, the game might be the most beautiful game I’ve ever played. It’s just a feast for the eyes everywhere I look.
Love the Vampire franchise (Redemption, Bloodlines and even Coteries of NY) so I will def be getting this day 1, regardless of the state the game is in.
Any time is good to buy gaming hardware. With PS5 I have so many games in my library I’m covered till PS6 arrives at least. That said, PS5 Pro is still readily available for pre-order everywhere over here in Poland and I suspect it’s not going to sell nearly as well as Sony is hoping.
Sony is like a guy who’s been married for 15+ years. They know it’s better to keep quiet than risk a media storm by saying/showing something that modern gamers may not like lol.
Nah. I put in 120 hours into my playthrough on PC. I’m done with BG3, but I have to admit I am surprised by the number of games enhanced for the Pro. The list looks much better than in the case of PS4 Pro. Still, I’ll be waiting for PS6 to take advantage of those enhancements.
Welcome to Jensen Huang’s (nVidia’s boss) world!! Lol. The world in which it does not matter what hardware you’re rocking. What matters is upscaling, DLSS, FSR, PSSR, which is to mean tools for devs to compensate for their inability to make a game run well and look great on modern hardware. Huang straight up said the only way forward is upscaling. This goes for all consoles and PC, as well. I’m not going to indulge him. There’s too many well-optimised games out there to care.
Still Horizon FW. I’m taking my time with it, taking in the vistas and doing all sorts of open world stuff that I usually hate. Yes, this is how much I’m loving this game and universe. Added The First Descendant to my library on a whim and gonna see what’s what. I expect to be underwhelmed by the gameplay loop, horrified by the amount od grinding I’ll have to do to progress and uninstall the game. That said, I dread the possibility that I will like it and start playing…(gulp) live service games from here on out.
Sigh. Reading stuff about games and talking to fellow gamers used to be fun. Now it’s nitpicking and moaning about everything. I love Horizon and have already bought the upgrade. Currently only ankle-deep in Forbidden West and loving every second!
I noticed the change yesterday. Doesn’t really add anything of value to my experience, but it does obscure the screen quite a bit. I prefer to look at game art rather than stats, trophies etc. Not a big deal, though.
People wanting Killzone back- that’s just nostalgia speaking. I replayed Killzone and Resitance on my Ally a few months ago (played them originally on PS3 at launch) and they are okay games at best by today’s standards. I really like Horizon but I expect I will have had enough of it by the end of the third game (whenever that comes out).
@djlard Tomb Raider games seem to be the obvious recommendation, but you have probably played them already. Sadly, there aren’t that many games with a strong story focus, decent exploration and such. You may also try Mass Effect.
Oh man. That gets me hyped…not. Wake me up when there is finally a reveal and not „people in the know” who give us breadcrumbs expecting to be excited. Naughty Dog is my favourite PS first party developer and I expect nothing short of greatness from them anyway. Be that a linear single player game or an open world game.
I found DLSS to be a much bigger deal than raytracing when I still had my gaming PC. RTX on usually meant the picture quality (sharpness especially) suffered and IMO RTX is a gimmick not worth the processing power and the heat it makes the machine generate. That said, FSR is pathetic in comparison and PSSR getting its first trial run in PS5 Pro makes me seriously consider getting the PS6 in the future (not getting the Pro).
@TheTony316 Agreed. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City work flawlessly on UE3. The mess starts with UE4 games. I hope it gets sorted as devs become more familiarized with UE5.
@TheTony316 @nomither6 This. Also, Unreal Engine 5 is the way to go for the forseeable future sadly. Even CDPR is adopting it in favour of their in-house engine for CP2077 (which looks and works great). My only hope is that devs learn to utilise it properly on PC so the issue of shader stutter goes away. There’s a lot to like about PC gaming and I may yet go back, but for now I’m sticking with PS5 and see how things are shaping up when PS6 launches.
@NEStalgia I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t. Ditto for The Lord of the Rings (also happen to love the trilogy). Hell, I haven’t read any Witcher books and I really like the games haha. CDPR really excells at creating believable worlds that feel inhabited, alive. The grief you mentioned only manifests through haters these days. The launch was bad, but only because of the last gen versions. The PC version and the XSX version ran fine from the get-go. Deus Ex is also one of my favourites, though my favourite is Human Revolution. I was into Unreal Tournament when the first game launched and these days the original is too outdated for my liking (I know of the mods that give the game a coat of new paint, but the mechanics are still rough). I’m currently on PS5 and even though my last foray into PC gaming went awry I will definitely give a lot of consideration where I go from here. Got a big PC library of games (GOG and Steam) so might just go PC when PS6 launches. Especially if PS6 costs $700+ which is what I expect it to. Exclusives are no longer a factor so yeah.
Now, I’m with @TheTony316. I tried the PC gaming experience 2 years ago and I disagree that consoles will die and most people will migrate to PC. Here’s my experience: bought a Ryzen 7/RTX 3070/32 GB RAM for about $1600. I thought I had spent a fortune and games would look and run great on it. I already had a monitor and a keyboard, otherwise it would be $2000+. Apparently, it still wasn’t enough as while the specs looked good on paper the prebuilt I got had crappy cooling and horrible RGB lighting. Playing games on full load it sounded like the PS4 Pro playing God of War/TLoU2 and generated enough heat to keep the entire flat warm in winter. Windows is still not a system geared towards gaming. System updates still take ages sometimes and can break more than they fix. HDR is still iffy on PC- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Shader csching in Unreal Engine games is a mess on PC. Lots of games have stuttering issues that no amount of patches seems to fix. Case in point- WRC 23. I love rally games and this game is almost unplayable on PC despite patches, while it runs buttery smooth on PS5. The numer of storefronts/launchers you need to use is mindboggling. On PS5 every game is in the same place. PC has the biggesr game library- sure, but most people will never play retro games (I tried, nostalgia gets a brutal reality check fast) and few gamers actually care about indies as only a handful of them are worthwhile. To sum it all up- PC gaming does have a lot of advantages (freedom, cheaper games, more flexibility, mods, VR) but to an average gamer who just wants to game it’s just too much of a hassle and the money you need to spend to get a better experience than on a console graphics and performance-wise is really questionable in today’s economy. Unless tou have lots of disposable income.
Sony’s hand was forced as the PC folk are already playing Spider-man 2 because of the hack. The full game was leaked and some talented people did the port before Nixxes got their hands on it. It’s been available online for a long while now.
@NEStalgia
Oh man. I’m so jealous, but also happy for you bro 🙂 Enjoy it! I know of the mod and I tried to play CP2077 with it installed when I still had my gaming PC and a Quest 2, but Ryzen 7 and RTX3070 couldn’t handle it… Still, I can at least say that I played the game in 1440p, RTX on Ultra and the game looked glorious. It’s still the game to beat the way Crysis was for so many years IMO. That said, I think it looks great on PS5 on an OLED display and with HDR set up properly. Again, enjoy it! I played CP2077 on PC, PS5 and XSX. Put 300+ hours into it, finished the game 5-6 times and have seen all endings (including the Phantom Liberty ones). I still play it on PS5, even if only to just cruise around Night City for a while listening to my fav radio station Pacific Dreams. For context- cyberpunk is my favourite genre and Blade Runner my fav movie 😎
@Mikey856 Agreed! Add to that the fact that it’s my first time playing it on an OLED with HDR and you can imagine the way I feel. Actually, I find myself often just stopping to look around at the beauty of the scenery, lighting effects and character animation. Gameplay mechanics are also a notch above Zero Dawn so I’m really enjoying the game 🙂
Already bought the upgrade. Currently playing Forbidden West and it is so gorgeous it blows my mind. I’m a fan of Horizon so that was an easy decision to make.

I loved The Medium and I loved the trailer. Definitely getting the game.
Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Sounds Like a Ridiculously Good PS5 Upgrade
@Mikey856
Agreed!
