The trailer is done. Square Enix executives have seen it. The release window is set. It really is just when they plan to pull the trigger. But it is time for some damn transparency. They said Spring. We are now into Summer. So, time to really figure things out. State of Play makes the most sense rather than a PS5 exclusive being lost in a sea of Summer GameFest announcements.

The world is pretty but empty with no real rhyme or reason to it. I am left quite confused by the whole thing

The hate towards Chrono Cross Remastered is so ridiculous from this site. Yest, the framerate was not good but the character models looked fantastic and the filters they added to the backgrounds looked beautiful (like paintings). Way better than the awful pixelated smears the FF8 and FF9 Remasters did to the OG backgrounds.

I don't believe they expect most people to choose streaming. Though with PS3 titles that kind of stinks, especially since Dragon Age 1 and 2 have so many DLCs...thankfully I can play those on Series S

Why on earth? Nothing about this upgrade is making me want to touch it, beyond the god awful offerings they are trying to call "classics"

Seems like folks who tried to stack and cheat the system are getting their just desserts. I feel no sympathy. Why did you think you could stack for years on end and then magically get Premium for a small price?

Why is game's success now determined based on streaming counts/player counts? Who's to say people aren't just enjoying it on their console?

I am playing through the first one now. It is really good for AA game with a lower budget. They just need more character customization features and better lipsyncing.

I wouldn't touch those tiers with that piss poor selection of Classic PS1 games with a ten-foot pole.

God awful PS1 Classics list which is all I cared about. So I am happy to cancel my PS Plus over this horrible offering.

@nookie_egg It only began FULL development in November 2020. I highly doubt this is anywhere close to release at this point.

I adored Welcome To Raccoon City because it nailed the music and atmosphere of the games and while doing its own thing, FELT like the 1990s. THIS? Looks like Anderson on steroids.

Happy I own a Series S along with my PS5. I can play the short adventure on GamePass.

Spring for Japan runs through end of June, so I expect they do a showcase in May/June for this. He really did stick to his decision that the next time we see it would be when they can attach a release date to it.

My top 3 are FF8, FFXII and FFXIII. Done.

I expect many PS5 exclusives will wind up cross-generational (like FF16). I know Microsoft paid for priority chip placement, it seems the PS5 is just going to be super rare for a couple more years.

@ShogunRok Final Fantasy is doing absolutely fantastic. FF7 Remake received critical acclaim and sales. FFXIV is one of the biggest MMOs and a huge success for SE and they have XVI which is being produced by the team behind the successful 14.

Why would you expect a PS1 game to be completely alter how it works? It's a PS1 game, they can't just be updated without basically remaking it, which this isn't. The game looks better than it ever has and the way they've used background filters vs. just upscaling the original backgrounds to a pixel mess is very nice. You seem to expect way too much for a REMASTER of again a PS1 title. This site has been really nasty toward the game since it was first announced anyway. I expected nothing less from you.

Also, complaining they haven't completely revamped the battle system on the remaster is a joke point since why would they? And I am checking the marketing materials and NOWHERE did they promise a locked 60 FPS.

Microsoft has the money to sustain GamePass but it isn't exactly profitable. I rather Sony continue to do what they are doing.

@Tielo Most people want PS1 and PS2 classics, and this is the first time they will be available on next gen systems.

I watched a bunch of videos and really dig it. The world is absolutely gorgeous and haunting to explore.

Did they ever fix the choppy cutscenes or are they still running below 30 FPS while the game runs at 60?

The first two were great but were unique because they were action RPGs combined with side-scrolling aesthetic. It saddens me they abandoned the side-scrolling aspect.

The fact Capcom trolled everyone with a possible Dino Crisis revival and then showed that swill infuriated me.

I am currently 32 hours in and I still haven't even made it out of the area right as you cross into the West and I am in NO rush either.

@LiamCroft I love to play ranged and plan to go with bandit and use summons as support and focus strictly on bows. Can this be done?

@get2sammyb Yes, it is starting to be a brought up on social media and the sub reddit. Definitely seems to be an issue. Thankfully, performance still looks gorgeous to me.

Currently trying to figure out why Resolution mode the cutscenes have a noticeable pause before camera angles change and why the saturation darkens when you move the camera or are in motion but then everything lights when you stop moving. It is very odd and driving me nuts. Neither of these issues happen in Performance mode.

@Luigia The story is fantastic and one of the most well-written experiences ever to be in a video game with side quests rivaling anything I've ever encountered. You need taste.

The game is absolutely stunning on PS5 and my V has never looked more detailed. Put 200+ hours into two playthroughs before this and can't wait to do a third.

I always play ranged if I can, so Bandit for me so I can excel in bows.

I always play games in Resolution mode, so 30 FPS is no issue for me.

We must not have played the same game because I am finding the story and characters completely captivating. I've experience sidequests longer than the main story quests, and I am just having a blast. 35+ hours into the game, I am only 1/3 through the main story with tons to do. Definitely a 9/10 for me.

@mucc They redid all of the background art and they redid all of the character models. That's way more than a simple HD port. Get your glasses on.

@Voltan They've redone ALL of the background art into HD. That's way more than they've done for the other remasters.
