Re: Until Dawn Is One of Sony's Worst Performing PC Ports to Date

stinkyx

@Neither_scene Agree with all of this. Imagine if Helldivers 2 waited to release on PC until right now, long after all the hype...obviously would've sold nearly as many copies.

Timing matters, and Until Dawn is 9 years too late to PC. Personally, I stopped playing the PS4 version because it runs so horribly and was waiting for a remaster/PC-version, but ended up playing it last fall when Supermassive didn't release a new game. If this game had come out 12 months ago, I'd have bought it.

Re: Rumour: Naughty Dog's Troubled The Last of Us Multiplayer PS5 Project Was Sniped by Bungie

stinkyx

@B_Lindz IKR. It's like...just make games, stop doing weird stuff. That's the problem with publicly-held companies. The investors want their stocks to increase in price, so here comes all the live service stuff, safe sequels, and drip-feed game subscription services for old games.

I mean, imagine if you invested in PlayStation stock. Would you rather have them make a risky new game IP, a remake of an old successful game, or a reboot of an old beloved franchise that's a live service game built around FOMO and a mobile game economy?

Re: Rumour: Naughty Dog's Troubled The Last of Us Multiplayer PS5 Project Was Sniped by Bungie

stinkyx

GEE, THANKS BUNGIE. Now we might not even get any multiplayer at all. I think most players wanted something simple, similar to the first except with the new mechanics and graphics. It's a side mode, ffs.

If they're abandoning it because they couldn't monetize it effectively (presumably they'd just have cosmetics like before, maybe a battle pass, which just sounds wrong now that I actually type it), then that's just dumb and anti-consumer. Boooo!!!

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Announced for PS5, Out 19th September

stinkyx

@Kanji-Tatsumi Pre-ordering is fine on other platforms. If you preorder, play the game and don't like it, then you can get a refund, no questions asked. Easy. But Playstation's terms of service won't let you refund a preorder if you even start downloading the game for 1 second (never mind actually playing it).

Sony and Nintendo reeeeally need to change this policy. It's just incredibly consumer un-friendly, IMHO, and would take away most of the leverage publishers have when offering pre-order bonuses.

Re: Capcom's Crazy Win Streak Continues as Publisher Confirms Record-High Profit

stinkyx

@Beerheadgamer82 You're not wrong, but I personally feel that RE6 had more of the RE soul than RE7. Depends what you love about the series. Personally, I never thought of the series as scary, it was more about the campy heroes and lots of gross monsters. RE7 dialed those things back big time, and while I loved the game and change of formula, it wasn't necessarily a "return to form" IMHO.

Re: Street Fighter 6's First Wave of DLC Includes Rashid, AKI, Ed, Akuma

stinkyx

@z0d15g0d Good lord dude, the 90s and 00s had whole new game come out every year or two for full price. How do you not remember that.

And if you think devs should push the release date back for years until the game is "done" with DLC to release it, you're in luck! Just wait 5 years to buy SF6. You can even wait 10 years and probably get it for $5.

Re: Capcom Ducks Street Fighter 6 News at Capcom Cup Finals

stinkyx

@Sequel I don't get the push for this character either. We'll see what happens in the story mode? Personally, as time goes on, I actually don't like how ANY of the characters look in this game. They're all kinda ugly and/or have super weird bodies, IMHO.

Re: Mini Review: Breakers Collection (PS5) - Cult 90s Fighter Finally Finds a Bigger Audience

stinkyx

I always wanna get these lesser known fighting games, but then friends IRL rarely want to play them, and the online goes dead almost instantly (even for bigger names like Capcom's recent collections). And even if friends actually DO want to play, unless they invest time into learning the game, it's frankly no different than any other game where you're just mashing or throwing out special moves. And then solo play with fighting games is just not the same since you can't play mind games with the A.I. or guess what they're gonna do because it's not a real person...solo play is really only there to practice for PvP and try and connect with the characters via their bios and endings. What a tough sell!!!

Re: Sony Throws EA's Battlefield Under the Bus to Make a Point on Call of Duty

stinkyx

@Deityjester Shadow Fall's drone was a neat idea but yea, I hated that thing and avoided using it. So frustrating that it wouldn't deploy the shield unless the ground was 100% unobstructed flat surface. The forced stealth level was trash, otherwise the hive-mind enemies made stealth pointless elsewhere in the game.

Multiplayer, tho...still a top 5 experience for me. Loved the class balance, map design, the fact it had spawn bases, etc.

Re: Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Belatedly Swings to PC on 19th October

stinkyx

@Korgon Personally, I've stopped "playing from the beginning" when it comes to games series. Youtube is where it's at. Life is too short to play a bunch of old games (however good they may be, but more than likely poorly aged) just to play the latest iteration in a franchise (assuming you're not sick of the series after cramming through a bunch of games, and assuming you ever actually finish them all).

Re: The Callisto Protocol's Boss Underfire for Appearing to Glorify 15 Hour Shifts

stinkyx

@Yupyupyup I don't know if you've ever worked in an office job doing 12-16 hours shifts 6-7 days per week under a hard deadline (I have), but it's absolute hell. The thing about these situations is that they're entirely avoidable with proper management. If you have to essentially double the output of your workforce when you only have ONE main project you're working on, then upper management is just grossly incompetent.

Re: Killzone Shadow Fall, Other Guerrilla Games Now Stripped of Online Play

stinkyx

@Flaming_Kaiser Yea but the multiplayer was NOTHING like COD tho. Had different classes with activated abilities, plus was one of the few mp shooters with spawn bases for all modes, which of course means you never had someone spawn behind you and cheap-shot you in the back. Definitely top 5 multiplayer shooters of all time for me. R.I.P.

Re: MultiVersus Trophy List Looks Like a Massive Grind for the Platinum

stinkyx

What? No way, this is an easy one!

Winning 300 games in Street Fighter V took me about 60 hours, and that includes spending about 1/2 of that time in practice mode or single player or watching replays. Playing 500 matches took me even less than that amount of time (considering my win rate was 40% at that time).

The longest trophies to get will probably be 100 ringouts using your downward spike move, and get 200 ringouts with a projectile, but honestly...the downward spike is such an important move that it'll do you good to master it. Projectiles will be kind of annoying, I'm predicting. Personally, I'd rather they had a trophy like "Reach XX Rank" that's more skill-dependent instead of grind-dependent, but like people have said...that's one way to help player retention.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 427

stinkyx

The entire Final Fantasy XIII series is amazing, IMHO. The linearity makes the pacing really nice because you never hit a wall where you're like "Guess I'll go grind out easy enemies for hours so I can beat this boss!" Love the characters and the story, and especially the music (even played it at my wedding's reception). Screw the bandwagon hate it gets.

Re: Call of Duty: Vanguard Multiplayer Is Free to Play Until Tuesday

stinkyx

@nomither6 You forgot Gunfight, which isn't in Vanguard (replaced by the inferior Champion Hill), but is hands-down my favorite multiplayer mode of all time. 2v2 on 3-lane maps with all the same loadouts means all-skill, all-strategy, and not getting shot in the back ever again (unless you get outflanked big-time).
