Guess I'm the only one excited about this? I swear, the bitterness of gamers is exhausting.
Turok was my favorite franchise and this trailer captures the spirit of everything I loved about it. The perspective makes no difference. Co-op games can always be played solo. I don't see what there is to cry about here.
This news makes me resent Horizon even more. I can't stand the gameplay. They definitely accomplished their goal of making it the opposite of Killzone.
@Neither_scene Agree with all of this. Imagine if Helldivers 2 waited to release on PC until right now, long after all the hype...obviously would've sold nearly as many copies.
Timing matters, and Until Dawn is 9 years too late to PC. Personally, I stopped playing the PS4 version because it runs so horribly and was waiting for a remaster/PC-version, but ended up playing it last fall when Supermassive didn't release a new game. If this game had come out 12 months ago, I'd have bought it.
@Waluigi451 Good idea...I personally buy every MK DLC at launch, but always just play as the base roster characters in the end, haha.
Like for Khaos Reigns, I was torn over if I should main Sektor, Cyrax, or Noob because they're all so cool, but suddenly I'm obsessed with playing as Rain!
@B_Lindz IKR. It's like...just make games, stop doing weird stuff. That's the problem with publicly-held companies. The investors want their stocks to increase in price, so here comes all the live service stuff, safe sequels, and drip-feed game subscription services for old games.
I mean, imagine if you invested in PlayStation stock. Would you rather have them make a risky new game IP, a remake of an old successful game, or a reboot of an old beloved franchise that's a live service game built around FOMO and a mobile game economy?
GEE, THANKS BUNGIE. Now we might not even get any multiplayer at all. I think most players wanted something simple, similar to the first except with the new mechanics and graphics. It's a side mode, ffs.
If they're abandoning it because they couldn't monetize it effectively (presumably they'd just have cosmetics like before, maybe a battle pass, which just sounds wrong now that I actually type it), then that's just dumb and anti-consumer. Boooo!!!
@Beerheadgamer82 Yooo, RE6 was the best-selling game in the series until the RE2 remake, and is vastly under-appreciated IMHO. I feel like you had to play it co-op or it wasn't as fun. I loooooove that games (as in it's basically 4 entire games in one).
@z0d15g0d Good lord dude, the 90s and 00s had whole new game come out every year or two for full price. How do you not remember that.
And if you think devs should push the release date back for years until the game is "done" with DLC to release it, you're in luck! Just wait 5 years to buy SF6. You can even wait 10 years and probably get it for $5.
People concerned about PC getting TLOU when they should be concerned that PS5's library is all just PS4 ports and like 5 noteworthy actual next-gen titles.
@Sequel I don't get the push for this character either. We'll see what happens in the story mode? Personally, as time goes on, I actually don't like how ANY of the characters look in this game. They're all kinda ugly and/or have super weird bodies, IMHO.
I always wanna get these lesser known fighting games, but then friends IRL rarely want to play them, and the online goes dead almost instantly (even for bigger names like Capcom's recent collections). And even if friends actually DO want to play, unless they invest time into learning the game, it's frankly no different than any other game where you're just mashing or throwing out special moves. And then solo play with fighting games is just not the same since you can't play mind games with the A.I. or guess what they're gonna do because it's not a real person...solo play is really only there to practice for PvP and try and connect with the characters via their bios and endings. What a tough sell!!!
@Deityjester Shadow Fall's drone was a neat idea but yea, I hated that thing and avoided using it. So frustrating that it wouldn't deploy the shield unless the ground was 100% unobstructed flat surface. The forced stealth level was trash, otherwise the hive-mind enemies made stealth pointless elsewhere in the game.
Multiplayer, tho...still a top 5 experience for me. Loved the class balance, map design, the fact it had spawn bases, etc.
I mean, if people can't buy COD, they'd buy something else, not get a whole new $500 console.
Plus, MS would be stupid to not cash-in on a giant user base. All they have to do is delay the PlayStation release by a month so all the content creators have to buy an Xbox.
Ranked matchmaking please! Regardless, can't wait. Assuming Sin or Jam next based on leaks? Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't, tho. Hoping for a brand new character that's trap-based.
I really liked this game! Played it while holed-up when my place got flooded. Really fun and different take on Battle Royale, with some cool gear and skins. The use of magic and abilities was really fun. Too bad it's gone.
@Korgon Personally, I've stopped "playing from the beginning" when it comes to games series. Youtube is where it's at. Life is too short to play a bunch of old games (however good they may be, but more than likely poorly aged) just to play the latest iteration in a franchise (assuming you're not sick of the series after cramming through a bunch of games, and assuming you ever actually finish them all).
Playstation not letting us cancel preorders or refund digital games is still more anti-consumer than this.
Plus, the deal never says what will happen AFTER the 3 years. It could just be an extension of the current deal. No one is saying it WON'T come to Playstation ffs
@Yupyupyup I don't know if you've ever worked in an office job doing 12-16 hours shifts 6-7 days per week under a hard deadline (I have), but it's absolute hell. The thing about these situations is that they're entirely avoidable with proper management. If you have to essentially double the output of your workforce when you only have ONE main project you're working on, then upper management is just grossly incompetent.
@Americansamurai1 Yeah, I thought releasing a few days before Halloween was bad (since it takes me and my wife a week to get through these), but sheesh!!!
I dunno guys, I played the MK Arcade Collection last week and all the games suck a lot more than I remember. Like really bad. And this is from someone who used to love them. Nostalgia is a heck of a thing, but man...those old games suck, IMHO, lol.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yea but the multiplayer was NOTHING like COD tho. Had different classes with activated abilities, plus was one of the few mp shooters with spawn bases for all modes, which of course means you never had someone spawn behind you and cheap-shot you in the back. Definitely top 5 multiplayer shooters of all time for me. R.I.P.
Winning 300 games in Street Fighter V took me about 60 hours, and that includes spending about 1/2 of that time in practice mode or single player or watching replays. Playing 500 matches took me even less than that amount of time (considering my win rate was 40% at that time).
The longest trophies to get will probably be 100 ringouts using your downward spike move, and get 200 ringouts with a projectile, but honestly...the downward spike is such an important move that it'll do you good to master it. Projectiles will be kind of annoying, I'm predicting. Personally, I'd rather they had a trophy like "Reach XX Rank" that's more skill-dependent instead of grind-dependent, but like people have said...that's one way to help player retention.
Tried it for a couple hours and refunded it on PC. It's solid, but lacks extras and doesn't seem like something I'd drop SFV or KOFXV or Strive to play.
Btw, PSN sorely needs a refund feature so people on the fence can try the full game out before they commit!!!
The fact that you feel a need to explain yourself thoroughly about why you didn't like it, and that many people are reluctant to criticize this game, goes to show how overblown and overhyped this game actually is.
@uptownsoul If Todd Howard really meant that, developing for PC is a big mistake, lol. I'd also like to see Bethesda try and make an open world game not riddled with game-breaking bugs...just ONCE!
The entire Final Fantasy XIII series is amazing, IMHO. The linearity makes the pacing really nice because you never hit a wall where you're like "Guess I'll go grind out easy enemies for hours so I can beat this boss!" Love the characters and the story, and especially the music (even played it at my wedding's reception). Screw the bandwagon hate it gets.
@nomither6 You forgot Gunfight, which isn't in Vanguard (replaced by the inferior Champion Hill), but is hands-down my favorite multiplayer mode of all time. 2v2 on 3-lane maps with all the same loadouts means all-skill, all-strategy, and not getting shot in the back ever again (unless you get outflanked big-time).
@Voltan Ah, okay! Well have fun. It's good for a trip. I recommend starting out with just one month in case the nostalgia-factor does hold. Definitely at least worth that!
@Voltan The PS3 Ratchet and Clank games, along with all of the PS3 games on this list (as far as I can tell) have been available on PS Now for YEARS. Like, I'm talking like 5+ years, lol.
@Nem I personally loved Homecoming and Downpour. I think the devs did a great job of taking themes from SH2 specifically and applying them to new protagonists. Of course, my standards get lower the longer we go without a new iteration, but they're fun games all the same.
@WaterKirby1964 Would be nice if I could play all the PS1 Tekken games I already bought on PS3 without having to shell out more cash. Same with the buttload of other digital PS1 games I bought.
Surprised about the backlash...I mean, most games are a "gimme" anyway, in terms of beating them. Like you don't actually have to be good at games anymore since leveling-up systems make it so you can just be bad over and over until you win. I mean, you're not going to impress anyone saying you've beaten a game, not even Elden Ring (again, the leveling-up stuff).
Instead of no building, they shoulda added more shortcut types and increased the material drop amounts to make building even easier. Building is what makes this game more than a generic BR, and greatly ups the strategy and enjoyment once you get the hang of it.
