That's a lot of different softlocks I thankfully didn't experience at all when I was 100%ing this yesterday. The most I got were minor audio bugs such as Aloy randomly saying stuff like "I can use this later" at inappropriate times (e.g. while flying), or a manual marker bugging out on me.
It's a bit interesting that the buyer must pay a compensation fee if the deal doesn't go through even when that's because of circumstances beyond their control.
In any case, if Microsoft was a dude and three billion dollar bills existed, he'd wipe his ass with those everyday. I doubt that amount's much of a concern.
They may or may not be "the future" for playerbases at large, but on a personal note I get an insane amount of value out of my Extra subscription. I end up amortizing the price of a year-long subscription several times over in just a month or two, and that's not an exaggeration. The amount of games I'm completing (not just 'beating') at no additional cost and the money I'm consequently saving by not purchasing all of them is seriously significant.
I guess all that is to say that if game subscriptions are meant to end someday, I'll certainly keep squeezing this one dry for as long as it lasts.
Working on a live service game is the only thing I can imagine being worse than playing one. Years upon years of post-launch support tweaking and adding stuff to the exact same pile of code just to keep a product profitable, unable to move on to anything that's creative or stimulating in the slightest.
I enjoy Sony's exclusives, but other than perhaps Ghost of Tsushima I wouldn't really be interested in animated shows for them. Or shows period, to be frank.
I think this would have actually been a huge hit if they ported it to PC, but due to the nature of the game it's easy to imagine why Sony didn't want Dreams in a platform that allows for so much, er, creative freedom with assets.
Woah, actual combat footage for the $20 expansion releasing in less than a week? They're spoiling us.
But in all seriousness, the finisher looks cool. I appreciate having a way to do one of those without needing to be right beside the target machine, because that wasn't always feasible in the more hectic fights.
I'll probably watch it as I'm still not fully convinced I want to buy it Day 1, although I am leaning towards doing so. If I was already sold through and through I'd definitely avoid the new SoP as well.
@LeeHarveyOzgod You're thinking of actual speedrunning there, which has nothing to do with this.
That is highly optimized and requires hundreds if not thousands of hours of practice. The kind of challenge RE4R offers is the developer telling you "hey, can you beat the game kinda fast?" which is leagues below what actual speedrunning requires, and just about anyone can give it a shot or even accomplish it first try with a good plan.
They know very well that the ideal route for the S+ speedruns relies on getting the infinite Chicago Sweeper, so naturally the upgrade ticket is essential. Normally you don't get to unlock it until Chapter 7 so speedrunning the Village (especially on Professional and limited saves for S+) is tough, but with this pay-to-win ticket you can start blasting infinite ammo as soon as Chapter 2. They know what they're doing.
In the end, people who put in the effort to beat this normally are presented with a fair challenge at no extra cost, so I don't have any complaints myself since that's the camp I fall in. P2W is always scummy, but as long as the base game is fun and balanced it's all very easy to ignore.
Because it's not like the difficulty of these runs is unfair to a point where you feel as though Capcom is luring most people towards the MTX - just the lazies, and those who genuinely can't handle it due to some personal limitation. Whichever the case is - their experience, their money.
Just be the slightest bit transparent and say the money was good, dude. Other indies say it plainly and most people get it, videogame development is tough for a small team's budget and every cash injection helps.
Not really, no. I prefer playing in front of a big monitor anyway. Admittedly handheld play might be nice for the rare day I'd rather lay on bed, but does that once in a blue moon day warrant shelling out for a whole new peripheral? Nah, not to me.
Really enjoyed the game and I fully completed it, but I don't think I'm motivated enough for another playthrough and I've got my hands full with other games. Super solid update for the bigger fans, though.
I might buy VI at least, it always looked pretty good to me. I'd much rather get an experience close to the original (whether it's grindy or not) so I doubt I'll touch the toggles, but they sound good for folks who are just revisiting.
While the idea for this DLC is less interesting than what I hoped for (i.e. a new region to explore, such as Wano), I like the comment about the increased focus on combat, since the main game was indeed far too easy.
Cool to see Enel as well, I wonder if we'll be seeing other big villains besides him.
Sounds better to me than a Vita 2. Why split Sony's efforts between two different pieces of hardware yet again? It's not like they're swimming in upcoming first-party titles for just the PS5 as is.
Then again it's Jeff Grub, so ocean's worth of salt.
I've coincidentally been hoping they would add the first Ryza game for months. It's not a priority game for me (otherwise I would just buy it on sale) but if they added it to the service I'd probably start it right away.
I'll be playing Zanki Zero before it's gone. Ideally I'd fit in Caligula Effect as well, but I doubt I'll have the time.
Would recommend Steins;Gate Elite to anyone who cares about a good story, by far one of my favorite visual novels ever. Shibuya Scramble is pretty good as well, not on the same level but still.
Hopefully this game will do well, because last I heard about Shikura's company it was in a bad situation - and the people responsible for Steins;Gate deserve to make the stuff they like for eternity, not file for bankruptcy.
@get2sammyb I'm not sure what this reply accomplishes because nothing in that paragraph alludes to what I asked about loading times. As I implied, the lack of any of the other improvements mentioned there is not a deal-breaker for me.
It's not like the game is stunning visually, so in these cases my main concern really is just the loading times. Are they long on PS4 and did the PS5 version improve them? If the answer to those questions is yes, then I probably won't bother playing the inferior version.
There's a lot in there I want to play and probably no way to handle them all before the next update - especially with RE4 just around the corner.
But hey, no rush, I'll just get through them one at a time and enjoy the ride. Haven will probably be the one I'll start with, followed by Untitled Goose Game.

It's wholesome that the title narrator (?) believes in the heroes so strongly he just had to throw his take in there.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for May 2023 Leaked Early
Worst month in a while as far as I'm concerned, but I'm already swamped with things to play so that's fine. Extra's where it's at for me, anyway.
