Out of these I've completed Resident Evil 7, Tekken 7, I Am Setsuna and Thomas Was Alone.
I'll probably just try Tacoma and Lost Words since they're very short, maybe Hue as well. I'm kind of curious about Ace Combat but not quite in the mood for that gameplay right now, and I didn't like Setsuna enough to commit 50-ish hours to the devs' other two projects.
Gives it a better chance of success in the long run, at least.
My Plus subscription ran out on the 9th, but I'm planning to grab a month in a few days. This happens to be releasing during that month, so I may at least give it a try.
While I can certainly appreciate some positivity, I feel as though you guys are setting yourselves up for utter disappointment with this many rose-colored predictions.
Needless to say it's an abysmal game, but being able to see actual footage for the whole game instead of the awful ol' stills is a pretty big change nonetheless.
Years ago I dug up the PC version online and played it due to the funny AVGN video, but I wouldn't pay for this just to continue the joke. Still, the above change at least means it's not just a basic re-release, so I'm sure someone out there will be curious enough to pay.
"(...)presumably Final Fantasy XVII, the first time in the series' long history that four Roman numerals are required in the title?"
XIII says otherwise. So does VIII.
Anyway, I'm fine with Rising Tide being the last thing we get on FFXVI as I think it's a pretty complete story and world as is. On the other hand, it's a bit sad that this quick disbandment is probably related to 'disappointing' sales performance rather than what the team envisioned would happen from the start. Yoshida feels a lot less enthusiastic about his game in this interview.
Thirty seconds is ridiculous, an overwhelmed dev can barely even collect their thoughts within that time, even if they prepared a speech beforehand. Let alone enjoy the moment.
Imposing rigid time limits for this kind of thing is a bad idea to begin with, but if you're gonna do it, make it at least a minute and half. You're supposed to be celebrating these people and their games, so at least act like it.
Their position as dead last in the console market is more clearly defined than ever. At this point, "we want GamePass on the other systems" has a different connotation to it.
Months ago, it could have been seen as "we want to dominate every space in the market", but now it sounds more like "we're giving up and planning to slowly turn into Netflix with extra steps". As the popular narrative changes so do the statements that attempt to reshape it.
@bpomber By healthy competition you mean trillion dollar company Microsoft continuing their studio buying spree because they don't see any other way to succeed, therefore turning more and more games into console exclusives which is always a detriment to players as a whole?
Yeah, no thanks. The sooner they throw in the towel the better. At least then I'll know that the third party games I love aren't going to get locked to Xbox.
No surprise there, any game that sells poorly is a prime candidate to end up in a subscription service since it's such an obvious way for developers to recoup costs.
That said, it must have done particularly bad if the CEO is already openly discussing the move.
Giving Lords of the Fallen (2014) another go. Still every bit as janky as the first time I tried it, but I'm more motivated to deal with jank at the moment.
It feels like a punishment when I decide to explore and do side content in an open world game (kind of the point of having an open world) only to then realize I'm massively overpowered for the main story content that follows. Dynamic difficulty/scaling might alleviate this.
I hope they'll give up sooner rather than later and just abandon the market altogether. Normally I'd be against that because a Sony "monopoly" (in tandem with Nintendo) would not be a good thing either, but compared to the awful de facto monopoly Microsoft is aiming for, it'd still be a lesser evil.
If Microsoft bought SEGA, it'd be the first acquisition of theirs that would actually bother me, as they've got quite a few IPs that I don't want to lose access to.
I'm glad this doesn't look like it'll happen at any point in the foreseeable future.
Title and sub-title are funny considering that, just today, I read a rumor about at least two more projects involving the P5 cast (one as part of a series crossover, and another focused on them).
No worries on my end Yokoyama, I'll stick with it no matter how long it takes. If anything, the thought of another Yakuza 0/5-sized game makes me excited.
Like Gremio said, if there's a physical version when I decide it's time to play BG3, then I'll probably go for it.
@Genocide3681 The Japanese release is heavily censored to comply with the region's guidelines. Maybe do your research before just dropping a link and pretending you've made a point.

Re: Looks Like Netflix Exclusive Valiant Hearts Sequel Is Coming Home to PS4
Gotta say, I shudder a little whenever I read "Nextflix exclusive" referring to a videogame.
Re: Stellar Blade's Japanese Dub Won't Be Available Worldwide, But Korean Will Be
Korean works for me. When it comes to any kind of entertainment media, I always go for the original audio whenever that's available.
Re: State of Play Announced, Covering More Than 15 PS5, PSVR2 Games
Finally some Stellar Blade, huh? About time.
Also looking forward to seeing more from Rise of the Ronin.
Re: Capcom Assures Fans Dormant Ace Attorney Series Will Continue
I'll always be there for more Ace Attorney, but I'd be lying if I said the long period of news drought hasn't put a damper on my excitement.
Re: PS Plus Extra Loses Another 10 PS4 Games Next Month

Re: New Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Trailer Is a One-Minute Thrill Ride
Pitching in with the rest of the "not watching any more of these" crowd. By now I've lost count of how many Rebirth trailers I've ignored.
I'm sold, Square. You've got me. Please let me go into the game as blind as possible.
Re: Tekken 8's Opening Movie Is a Stunner, Eddy Gordo Confirmed as First DLC Character
Reina's looking like a "reina" indeed.

Re: 14 Games on the Way to PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
For people who haven't played RE2 yet, I imagine this is a good month. Unluckily for me, that's not the case. Oh well.
Re: Spy X Family's PS5, PS4 Street Fighter 6 Cameo Doesn't Quite Meet Expectations
The actual collab content was clearly going to be dismal, I'm just glad we got that cool little animated fight between Yor and Chun-li.
Re: Podcast Chit-Chat Prompts Fresh Xbox First-Party on PS5, PS4 Rumours
I'd love Hi-Fi Rush on PS5, it's pretty much the only Xbox console exclusive currently out that I'd really like to try.
Re: 30 PS5, PS4 Indie Games to Watch Out for in 2024
Silksong is the one I'm looking forward to the most, but I'm not expecting it in 2024.
So more realistically I'm itching to try out Baby Steps, because I actually love Bennett Foddy's Getting Over It and this is his latest work.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for January 2024?
Yeah, I'd been hoping for Requiem on either Essential or Extra for a while. At least they're starting off the year on the right note.
Re: Surprise! PS5 Exclusive Stellar Blade Has Been Delayed to 2024
Oh man, I was so looking forward to it launching one minute before New Year.
Re: Almost 5,000 PS5, PS4 Games Discounted in Colossal Christmas Sale
Baldur's Gate got a mini-discount for the first time ever, so I guess I might as well get it now. I'll also buy World of Horror.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 507
Super Meat Boy deathless runs... Pain and suffering.
Also Valhalla, which is awesome.
Re: The Tekken 8 PS5 Demo Is Available to Download Now
Eh, not much of a point for me if I can't practise Asuka nor try out Reina. Hope others will enjoy the demo.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla?
Currently stuck with finishing another game, but the Valhalla update is next in line. If all goes according to plan, I'll start it today.

Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5 Game of 2024?
Top 4 right now would be Like a Dragon 8, Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin and Metaphor, in that order. Not sure about the fifth.
Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS5 Game Announcement or Reveal at The Game Awards 2023?
Shadow dropping the first FFXVI expansion was pretty cool. I wish I could play it today.

Re: Final Fantasy 16's First Expansion Should Be Revealed This Month
Excited for it, FFXVI was one of my favorite things this year.

Re: 11 PS5, PS4 Games Are Leaving PS Plus Extra in December 2023
I'm going to play El Hijo and Foreclosed.
Maybe Caladrius Blaze too, but I already completed that on Steam years ago. It's an alright bullet hell/shoot 'em up.

True to their name, GameMill keep churning these out without a thought.
Re: Talking Point: Like Japanese Games? Early 2024 Is Going to Destroy You
Yeah, I want to play almost everything on that list eventually. 😂 Crazy schedule.
Sticking to just Like a Dragon 8 and Rebirth for early 2024, though. And maybe I'll squeeze in the Elden Ring DLC, if the rumors hold water.
Re: Arguably PS5's Best and Worst Games of 2023 Now Have Trials on PS Plus Premium
Mmm, Premium suddenly looks a lot more appealing, but it's also going to need a Rise of Kong trial to win me over. 😉

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for November 2023?
They're alright. I want to play several things in there - mostly Dragon's Dogma and that Daedalus visual novel.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 503
Giving Lords of the Fallen (2014) another go. Still every bit as janky as the first time I tried it, but I'm more motivated to deal with jank at the moment.
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Reveals New Dynamic Difficulty Setting Where Enemy Levels Scale
Sounds great, I'll probably try that one.

@HonestHick As long as I can still get the games I like on my system of choice, they can throw all the money they want at SEGA.

Re: 14 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Coming Next Week
Fewer games than usual, but still several I'm interested in. Dragon's Dogma in particular is one I've almost bought on several occasions.
Also curious about Eiyuden, Daedalus and Nobunaga's Ambition.
P.S. Superliminal is a pretty good puzzler, but I already completed that.
Re: Persona 5 Tactica (PS5) - Quality Combat Sends the Phantom Thieves Out in Style... Hopefully
Title and sub-title are funny considering that, just today, I read a rumor about at least two more projects involving the P5 cast (one as part of a series crossover, and another focused on them).
