@Maubari it’s genuinely one of my favourite films - but depends what you like! Very little dialogue for half the film, lots of visual story telling, great OST and cute characters. Worth giving a watch, it’s on Disney+ or Cheap as chips (cheaper, even) on DVD.
I get the idea, but there’s something slightly dystopian about gamers just watching a game being played because they’re bored. I watched Wall-E for the bazillionth time the other day, and each year it feels like we’re one step closer to living life zipping around a holiday liner living our whole lives watching a screen, never interacting with anything.
Or maybe I’m just getting older and each year become more and more “These youths and their screens! Back in my day…”
One quick question, I know it’s set before the final mission, but is still fine to play then if I haven’t finished the main game yet, or would it spoil anything?
I plowed about 80 hours into Unicorn Overlord but think I’m done with it now, very fun at first but got a bit stale. So I’m finally checking out AC: Black Flag a few years late, and I’ll play some more ‘Immortals of Aveum’
Just seen the first episode and I’m absolutely hooked. Really surprised at how strong a start it is, captures a fantastic atmosphere of humour, horror and absurdity that fits the game source material perfectly while forging its own path.
Looking forward to seeing the inevitable deathclaw.
If funding helped studios grow above their means, and ultimately resulted in the need to lay off over a thousand people, the blame still lies squarely on the management that allowed them to grow above their means.
He may be ‘a nice guy’, but I’m sure a lot of people that lost jobs, projects they were excited about, feel stressed and insecure in their jobs daily, were nice guys too.
I wouldn’t give the CEO a break, but to be fair the blame can be shared around: The CEO, the board, shareholders etc. are all equally to blame.
That’s it, the straw that broke the camels back, satire is truly, irrevocably dead. If a joke website ran this as a capitalist meme it would be rightly considered ludicrous.
“Don’t you see, we’re doing these poverty-stricken people a FAVOUR. Look at that one, he has a steak dinner. A STEAK dinner, at the restaurant I now own. They always look forward to their annual treat. Wow, we’re doing such good.”
I still can’t shake the feeling the game is an excuse for the director’s fantasies about his favourite irl model, but hopefully the game is decent too.
The games looked interesting and fun from the first bit of news, but I’ll wait for reviews. One thing I’m not short of is JRPG’s this year, but looks different enough to stand out
Aveum looks interesting, looking forward to giving it a spin. Same with Skul. 0 interest in the Minecraft spin-off, but I’m it’ll suit some folks that want a more chill game.
Looking at the negatives, sounds like it’s basically Skyrim - poor performance and animations, lacklustre story, repetitive enemies (and lots of them), but overall the fun stuff is fun.
I’ll still pick it up sometime, but I’m happy to wait a bit.
Really excellent to hear they have a clear, realistic goal - we need more sensibly scaled AA games. It gives freedom to be a bit more creative, and if you can forgive some jank often present some of the most memorable moments.
Life is Strange remains one of the very best games I’ve played, it was exceptional where it counted.
Every generation a game comes out that makes my jaw hit the floor, it does something I know the previous generation could never handle. We’ve just not had any of those games this generation.
We’ve had plenty of great games, but the ones that weren’t cross-gen (and few those are in themselves) haven’t blown me away graphically or mechanically in the same way.
Immortals is the sort of game I keep PS+ for - bit janky, but fun and trying something new. I wouldn’t want to buy except on a mega sale, but I’ll look forward to giving it a spin
Putting that diamond blood money to fine use, in Musk’s eternal hunt for love & adoration. But sounds it’s really helping this lad, hope it carries on making a difference.
Sounds like it’ll be really enjoyable, but I’m going to give it a month or two when they’ve released a couple patches (and I’m finished with Unicorn Overlord)
It was somewhere between the boobs jiggling more than the flying gryphons, and the fox ladies who make strippers look modest, that I realised I was, indeed, playing a Japanese Game.
Glad I waited on it - as always, you get a cheaper and better game a couple months of so down the line. The only reason I pre-order now is to support a developer, or help boost sales numbers of a more niche game
Looks like it’ll be fun, with good attention to visuals. Like pretty much all Amazon shows, it’ll likely lack heart and be generally forgettable, but entertaining for its duration.
That’s disappointing, this isn’t my usual game but this seemed to have genuine promise. Maybe when it’s patched and free as a PS+ monthly game I’ll give it a spin
@MrMagic I’m not sure a game about a squirrel with a gun is the right place for a big debate, but I’d say the opposite is also true. People develop beliefs and morals over time.
BUT, I think we can both agree, that’s why it’s nice to have completely silly games like this. Put all that to the side and just run around shooting government agents as a squirrel while pulling sick tricks in your toy RV
“In a world of secrets, my secret is secret. And I don’t like secrets. That’s my secret. And your secret won’t be secret anymore, you want to know why? It’s a secret. And secrets don’t stay secret for long. The true secret secret, is there are no true secrets, truly.”
Looking forward to sone gameplay, and if the terrible dialogue plays into the whole with a bit of tongue-in-cheek pulpy fun
Unicorn Overlord ended up being my soul purchase in this ridiculous month, I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Bit of a silly, pulpy story but the gameplay is incredibly addictive and recruiting charming heroes to crush the evil army is really satisfying.
Looks like gamers being gamers - if there’s a chance to have a scantily clad big-boobed lady then by George they will take it. Still, we’ve not had a ‘Dead or Alive’ in years so we’re overdue something like this. But a bit cringey.
I will be playing it if my delivery ever turns up, it was due 3 hours ago. It’s almost like DPD overworks their understaffed workforce and set them unrealistic delivery windows.
Even more hyped for release now, it’s the first game since Cyberpunk 2077 I’ve pre-ordered before release (for some mysterious reason). Hoping Game deliver it tomorrow, can’t wait to carry on from where the demo left off!
Unicorn Overlord! After the frankly absurdly long demo, I preordered and can’t wait.
Stellar Blade gives me weird vibes, I just feel it might launch a bit broken for some reason, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin, will have to wait, but what an absurdly stacked couple months. Poor Outcast is almost doomed to be lost amidst the maelstrom
I’ve only ever played the first, but it was fantastic. Hard as nails at the start, but when you get into it it’s an incredibly intense game. But be exciting to play it again and the other two!
Personally I blame the youths and their Iphonics and Fortnightly forays, back in my day we had games that would take you a week just to get out the first room or past the tutorial
I’ve played entire games shorter than the demo, and loved every minute of it! I’m curious to see if the story takes any twists, or if your choices matter, but otherwise so far it’s a nice series of little vignettes defeating the bad guy and saving the day, with fun characters.
The original was janky as anything, and the voice acting was difficult to take seriously, but it was a real diamond in the rough. The idea of creating a unique accent was cool, and it kept me engaged for a hefty playthrough, this could be something great!
@reek absolutely, I love how playful it is but that could backfire. The first two playthroughs are glorified introductions in comparison, but really set things up (trying to avoid spoilers).
As someone else mentioned, personal feelings aside, I think we’re going to see a huge increase in AI use as its use is further explored, incorporated and developed.
Never thought the robot takeover would begin with creative jobs, but here we are.
@Nepp67 Automata is a weird one - the first ‘playthrough’ is fun, but the characters and story didn’t really hit me until late on. Then comes your second playthrough, and things hit a little harder. Then comes the third playthrough, and everything just makes sense, it kicks into overdrive and becomes one of the most intense, riveting heart-breaking experiences I’ve found in gaming.
But “put in 30+ hours minimum and it gets really good, honest” is a tough sell.
Definitely intrigued enough to check out the demo, but I’m still disappointed at the lack of any, let alone an overload of, unicorns. Just looks like a tonne of humans ;(
VIII was the game that got me into gaming - if a 9/10 year old can figure out the system, I’m sure a modern day audience could. But it was clunky, and could certainly be improved upon. But otherwise a fantastic game, can’t think of many other games that involve an assassination attempt on a popular figure, zombies and bloomin’ Space in one game.

We’ve not seen the PS5 reach anywhere near its true potential. If games aren’t cross-gen, rarely have they really pushed things to wow me.
I’d consider a Pro if it does offer that wow factor, but I’ll be looking at examples post-launch
