@IamJT I mean I personally will be picking it up on a sale. I think the vitriol is pretty funny considering how many people have been saying the same thing. Like you already said you haven't bought the game or played the game because you are waiting on a sale. No real reason to keep dunking on it. I don't think this article is that though. Push would have reported on this if it happened to a sacred cow like GoT too.

@mac_da_man interesting that the parkour mod for Dead Island was one of the most popular for a long time. I really want to love Dying Light, but those characters are rough. Everyone looks like they sell shades in a mall in Kuwait or something. Like I can smell their cologne through the screen. Look how hard this guy vapes...

It's a dumb thing that annoys me. If I was in that world, I'd constantly be interrupting people to ask "what are you wearing?"

Like I said elsewhere, I am sick. I'm just going to take a sick day from work, eat some pho, and hang with Parvati in The Outer Worlds. Maybe I'll secret hunt in Killing Time. Really happy to have a remak...ster(?) of that game. I never got to play it, because I wasn't a rich kid, lol. I am so happy Nightdive exists and kills it every damned time.

Oh I didn't realize that IV is a live service. I'm good.

@PsBoxSwitchOwner it's not weird. They released that the price is $50, so they also wanted to clarify that it has just as much meat on its bones as a typical $70game...then they provided some more context as to why they chose this price point. People asked the obvious, not weird at all question, and they answered.

I can't imagine picking this up over Metaphor as my next big RPG, but Metaphor won't be complete for a while...hmm.

I'm most definitely in! It looks a lot less like a walking sim/visual novel than their earlier games.

I'll be moving on to another RPG after I finish The Outer Worlds (and I can keep myself from starting a new playthrough), but I'm really not sure which. I still have Unicorn Overlord to finish, so maybe that. Avowed is not until February, so I'll probably be able to complete a few bigger games before then...

My disc drive broke. So now in order to play this game that I own, I need to pay $49.99. Pretty cool, Sony.

It's pointless for me. These kinds of stats will never work for my home because the kids use my profile to play their games and I use the Portal so much (it doesn't accurately reflect how much time you've put into a game).

I definitely understand fronting a few dollars to play early. If it were Doom, I'd be tempted...but I wouldn't do it, and probably see it as tainting a series I love instead of some fomo, silent threat. I react really negatively to that kind of arm twisting. Besides, everything releases with a huge day one patch nowadays. Then a month, three months, and year one and year two patch, lol.
Admittedly, I don't have much of a dog in this fight. My PS5 is mostly for me to play PS4 games on the Dadstation Portal and for the kids to play Teardown, Minecraft, Fortnite, TABS, Killer Clowns, etc. I don't buy a lot of "AAA" games at launch.

I'm not great at Tetris, but I love it. I'll support most anything DE releases.

@jgrangervikings1 This is a Digital Eclipse release. A lot of the enjoyment comes from the documentation and history in their releases.

@Yagami When everything is a digital walled garden, maybe. I get a little careful when we start talking about the second-hand market being bad for consumers. It's different now though, with bots buying up a bunch of games before any real person has the chance.

Anyway just because those aren't your preferred physical retailer (lol) doesn't mean the game is digital only. That's just your own qualifier.

@MrPeanutbutterz There's a standard physical release on Play.Asia (on sale for $50 rn) and a Deluxe Edition ($80, with the full game on discs and a lot of tat) on Larian's site.

It's changed how much I play my PS5 from maybe once or twice a week to every day. I still play PS4 games on it primarily. That's fine. I used to main on my Switch but that's changed since I got the Portal. It's not for everyone but I love it.

I won't play a live service or buy games with ads, I won't buy an Atlus RPG at launch, etc.They're making a celebratory version of the game with more tat than usual for megafans. Should that just be the standard version? I don't see the problem. If you just want the game, go order the physical version from Larian. Like I said above, it has the entire game on the discs. If you want the tat? Sounds like a you thing.

Got my Deluxe Edition preordered. I'm happy they are putting the entire game on the discs, plural. It's $79.99 on Larian's site.

If no one here knows the lineage of Siren, you need to look into it. Japan Studio, Team Silent, Gravity Rush...it's nuts. It's really, really weird and cool. Even if with a guide, you should play it. If a project like this were announced today people would lose their minds.

Sunshine is strange. The FLUD could propel Mario all over, so Sunshine had a lot of big chasms to jump that you wouldn't see in most Mario games. But it definitely didn't work as well in tight corners.
The planetoid gimmick was done better in Ratchet and Clank than Galaxy, imo. At least that game didn't ask the player to crest a horizon blindly while jumping on an enemies head.

@Member_the_game except you can see where you are going, the controls are not awful, and it isn't based on a gimmick that gets tired after three "worlds."

@zupertramp It's totally not only that. It feels great, and is almost as effortlessly creative as the best of the best Nintendo games. I'd compare it to Smash or Sonic Racing Transformed. The nostalgia and references are thick, but the games stand on their own, imo.

I'm of two minds on the game itself. It's incredible, but also like dancing on a grave...or a cemetery. Like, "Yeah I DO remember Wipeout, whatever happened to that dev-oh RIGHT. Oh cool Ape Escape. What is Japan Studio up to these days..? Ohhhh...sweet." For me, it gets depressing.

@Kenobi42 I was looking at that. I have it on Switch but the performance is pretty meh. Think I'll pick it up for PS5.

Still on The Outer Worlds. I'll probably 100% it. I haven't enjoyed an RPG this much in a long time.
