@PegasusActual93 meh. I respect that the combat was pretty close up the majority of the time, but it all just moved so slow. It felt like the shooting in an immersive sim. TNO was their best gunplay though.
@MrPeanutbutterz SW2 has a great rally campaign. It feels wonderful to hit the turns in that game. Wipeout is my go to, usually. I play it on my Vita a good bit. If you have a switch or Potato PC, The Next Penelope is also great!
@MrPeanutbutterz Distance, Super Wooden GP/GP 2, Hotshot Racing, CTR, Hotwheels Unleashed, Wreckfest, Redout, etc. There's a few. Still nothing that quite hits the mark.
I'm not going to play it for a while, so no rating from me. I am playing AC Origins, and if I stick with it I probably won't want to play a new Ubisoft open world game for a while.
The dual sense is great. It's just over engineered to a really silly extent when about 10% of games use its features. I would gladly trade most of the haptics in for more games that use gyro or availability of third party controllers. The dual sense is too expensive for me to just hand off to my five year old. The "little brother" controllers plural in our home are the two with terrible drifting.
Whole family, from the five year old to my wife, are all smiles. That's basically nirvana for me, so thanks Sony. MORE of this, please. More joyous celebrations of the bizarre!
I just spent way too much on games the last month, but man does this look like pure gaming bliss. In a month or so. Hope everyone has fun. I went with Astrobot and Bakeru on Switch. We still have Mahvel next week too, and I need to get a few copies of that one!
@TheDudeElDuderino Shadows is the "break glass in case of emergency" setting. If I play through all of Origins and it burns me out, I'll just wait a year or so. Sometimes open worlds are good for a vacation, if you know what I mean. But after I play them I need a break from open world games, lol.
@RoomWithaMoose woman in Jedi ass Jedi outfit, using the force to move rocks- insulting Mary Sue. Woman doing split kicks, splayed towards camera, in leather thong and metal bra- badass.
I'll grab it next time I want a big open world. That might be a while. I started AC Origins, and hear it is stupid long? I don't know, I'm enjoying it. But that's in large part due to the last Ubisoft Ubergame I played was Far Cry 5.
I started Origins when I picked up a Portal and I'm pretty surprised at how much I am enjoying it. It helps that it's 60 fps Egypt, especially at night. Anyway, I like the look of the stealth options here. I have a feeling I won't want to play a big open world game for a while after Origins though.
@Olmaz I think people like it because it's a lot of fun. I'm not sure that's a fringe take. Seems like a lot of people agree, so I don't think many people are out there trying to show how rad their tastes are.
@riceNpea I don't care for watching any sports, but I used to watch some world cup in the military, working with people from all over. What stuck out was the replays. Of everything. Someone almost scored, replay. Someone almost got hurt, replay. Something interesting ALMOST happened, nine replays from every angle. I'm not here saying "no, it's the kids who are wrong," or taking shots at anyone. I was just really surprised.
I am wondering what these HP games are the tip of. I don't trust WB acting like they have integrity. Like they're going to add insane mtx to the upcoming definitive edition of HL or something. I feel like they're lubing us up...
They qualified that Quidditch will not have mtx "at release." Zero possibility they won't screw players into the dirt when they have the chance.
@Olmaz I'm 43, so the edgy take isn't because you are an old. I am an old as well. Oh wait...you said "contrary," not "edgy." Silly me! If more devs/publishers would pay attention to break out successes like this, Balatro, etc etc, maybe we wouldn't end up with bloated, focus-tested junk like Concord. A game doesn't need to be some $200,000,000, path traced "epic" to be amazing.
@Frmknst Yet again with the most asinine takes. And that's coming from me. There's zero chance you don't know better, but Tarkov has like 10 million registered players, and people still talk in hushed tones about the greatness of Bloodborne and pray for a remake or even remaster. Around 10,000 people still play Bloodborne, daily. More than Concord has reached, and I am pretty sure Bloodborne has been out for longer than a week.
@TrickyDicky99 I'd say it's more likely for someone outside of the USA to rag on about. At least I'm self-aware. A lot of Americans think they are completely above reproach.
I thought "loony lefties" meant Americans. Because left means something different around the world. But since you don't know anything about America and don't care, I'll assume you meant the French Communist Party.
oops!
The DS Castlevanias. This is a damned good collection. I also am a hypocrite and bought a PS Portal. My sticking point has always been the ridiculous lack of Bluetooth, but I didn't know it had an aux also. So I'm really excited for that. Like to a silly extent. I'm not sure what I want to play first on it though. It's coming in tonight, but I am working. I just keep repeating that they need me at work. I can't call out. They need me. I can wait til labor day. We do have that new lady, though...and she seems to be a ringer too. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Nah I can't call out.

Someone somewhere is psyched.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?
I would, but my wallet is weeping currently. Astro, Mahvel, Zelda, and this. Way too much rn.

They seem like a class act. I love it
Re: Guns More of a 'Fallback Solution' in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
That's nothing but good news. Ever since they were Starbreeze, Machinegames have had wonky shooting.

@PegasusActual93 oh God. Thanks for letting me know to avoid anything he touches.
Re: Sony: It's Massively Important PS Studios Develops Games in Various Genres
Yes. Astrobot is so refreshing. I hope they keep it bizarre. Third person moping is not always the way.
Re: Days Gone Director Roasts 'Small Game' Astro Bot PS5 for Deacon St John Cameo
Never would've guessed he would be an unlikable guy. His character in Days Z is so affable!

Re: Soapbox: Astro's Playroom PS5 Did Live Service and You Didn't Even Notice
@gollumb82 it's okay to have an article that's just a thought exercise when you're an enthusiast of a thing.

Gotta give it to Sammy. Got people talking about something current without any trash culture war bait. I mean it, good work.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Astro Bot?
Whole family is getting together around it. My favorite kind of release!
Re: Soapbox: Astro's Playroom PS5 Did Live Service and You Didn't Even Notice
This reminds me of a friend who once tried to sell me on Phantasy Star Online because it has live service elements "just like Nights." Nice try, guys.
Re: Where to Buy Astro Bot and Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller
This one got me in trouble with Ladyface...then she played it for three hours straight, lol.

@LN78 a profound waste of time?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Vampire Survivors?
It's a 10 for me, no question. I would love a physical, once they stop updating it. This is more a game for my Switch though.

Re: Enjoy 22 Minutes of Developer-Led Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gameplay
This game is reminding me of Hogwart's Legacy. Definitely not what I expected. It's got that YA thing going on.
I don't know about this.
Re: PSA: Astro Bot PS5 Copies Leak, Gameplay Spoilers Are Everywhere
@Kidfunkadelic83 Andrex sounds like an anti-zombie drug in like Days Gone or something.
Re: PSA: Astro Bot PS5 Copies Leak, Gameplay Spoilers Are Everywhere
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah sometimes I wish I didn't get to see any Mario Odyssey before release. New Donk City and the T-Rex specifically.
Re: PSA: Astro Bot PS5 Copies Leak, Gameplay Spoilers Are Everywhere
I forgot this is out in just a few days! How exciting. I've been loving the Dadstation Portal, but I'll need the kids to play this one too.
Re: Surprise! Barmy Shooter Son and Bone Arrives Imminently on PS5
@JB_Whiting fairly certain the name is a reference to Turok: Son of Stone, and the over-the-top death animations definitely are inspired by Turok.
Re: Surprise! Barmy Shooter Son and Bone Arrives Imminently on PS5
That's amazing news. I love the first two Turok games. I'm glad first person shooters are allowed to be dumb fun again.
Re: Surprise! Barmy Shooter Son and Bone Arrives Imminently on PS5
@rjejr this has a lot less run backwards and shoot.
