Re: Poll: Are You Playing Star Wars Outlaws?

@AfroMario Fyi my five year old understood the subtext.
I'm all for slavish devotion to stupid things. My favorite band is GWAR and my favorite series is Doom. It's like admitting that life is pointless, so just have fun, imo.
But I'm going to call out the culture warriors, sorry not sorry.

@TrickyDicky99 Does that include the prequels or no? Because those are absolutely the worst of the worst. How about the Star Wars Holiday special? Invoking the spectre of the sanctity of Star Wars is hilarious to me.

I am sorry your story about all races coming together to fight space Hitler got all silly on you. I really hope the next toy or cartoon they make is more your speed. Backflips and pew pews and member berries and lightsabers. George Lucas is a big ol' lefty, btw. If you didn't catch any of the anti-war or anti-American imperialism themes, I mean...

Star Wars isn't really my bag. The fans are scary and endlessly entertaining, but the actual Star Wars IP is pretty boring. I might pick this up when it's $20 or so. It isn't doing any one thing that other games don't do better.

Normally I'd be happy that a game isn't a rogue like. I like a lot of them, but I also prefer handcrafted areas, enemy placement, and weapons.
That said WOW DO THOSE LEVELS LOOK LIKE SOME PROCEDURALLY GENERATED ASS PROCEDURALLY GENERATED LEVELS! Holy crap. Just mishmashes of non-descript tiles at flat right angles. And enemies teleporting in too. Woof.
Oh, also, check out The Ascent if you dig this kind of overhead shooting. It's more an ARPG, but it's absolutely incredible. Gorgeous world, feels great. It's like Dredd meets (dontsayBladerunneryouhack) Bladerunner...

Re: Site News: Where's Our Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Review?

LikelySatan

It looks like the Ubisoft Ubergame but Star Wars now. That will go down fine when I'm in the mood for one, but who knows when that will be? I've been a bit put off by the reviews comparing the missions to RDR2. Seems to be a lot of "you are leaving the mission area, wee-ooh, wee-ooooh." After BotW and TotK, I find it hard to abide by that kind of design.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 543

I am playing Super Wooden GP 2. An absolutely spot on isometric racer, straight out of the 90s. Even the music is some 90s-ass techno. I'm really glad I put it on. Went through some depression and overall cynicism that made it difficult to enjoy anything besides Knee Deep in the Dead and Quake...everything Quake. I was really happy to find something that I am excited to play more of.
Also this segment still makes me think of Hey Ash, watcha Playin'? Games are better now, but gaming sure was better then.

Ah man it's pretty funny that people who flipped out over Stellar Blade censorship etc are just all over this thing. You guys know that the publisher told streamers they couldn't discuss "feminism," "politics," Covid, or quarantines? Isn't that really, really funny?
I'm sorry! I want everyone to have fun. It's just funny.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Concord?

LikelySatan

@IamJT $100 says they put in "he/him" pronouns for that robot because he fights with what looks like a vacuum cleaner, lol. I don't care about that stuff, the "culture war" is tiring imo, but it's pretty funny watching these publishers trying to be so inoffensive.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Concord?

LikelySatan

@KeenAerondight The co-publisher (Hero Games) sent a doc to streamers warning them to not discuss Covid, quarantine, feminism, and "politics." Seems on the up and up, lol. That's actual censorship, fyi.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Concord?

LikelySatan

There are more people playing Balatro right now than Concord. And more playing Dead Cells.
But remember, publishers need to spend hundreds of millions to develop a successful modern game! I bet the marketing budget for Concord was more than the entire cost of both of those games, combined.
Thing is that people didn't realize that Concord is also a battle royale. Like, an irl one. They started with about 100 players, and soon they will all be out of the game. Concord is actually incredibly ambitious, guys.
